My primary use for it was as a consistent step tracker, so that I can accurately measure my activity with and without a phone.After using it for roughly a year however I have found more of the other features useful as well. This has suited me just fine, as I just set it to charge overnight anyway. The proprietary charging puck is a little unfortunate, but it is what it is, and it's small and magnetic, so I can set it on metal and fairly easily slide the watch on.The customizability of the watch faces is great, the ecosystem of watch bands plentiful, and the rotating bezel is a favorite feature, providing a tactile and just plain entertaining way to navigate apps and control volume levels.The watch has held up to sand, water, and the dings perfectly fine, and I'm happy with it still.

My only suggestions for the 5 and future models are: 1) Dramatically increase the IP value of the watch as part of my regiment of keeping it clean is to wash it when it gets dirty under the sink. My Gear S3 died because sweat got into it, despite my care. 2) I think the gyro needs more sensitivity and would be nice if simply turning the wrist at some speed activated the screen versus having to bring the whole arm down and then back up.

The LTE feature is completely useless. The watch will overheat after a few minutes on the phone if your signal strength isn't completely full. I'm talking even just one bar lost will cause the problem. Overheating even if it's 40F outside. My watch is updated to the latest software available as of today. A quick Google search reveals that this overheating during calls on LTE is a HUGE problem a lot of people have and that they got replacement watches that had the same issue, and it blows my mind that no online reviews, no Youtube tech channels, NOBODY has mentioned this MASSIVE flaw with the watch which would be apparent after using this feature at all.I see that other people with this issue have contacted Samsung and Samsung blamed carrier settings, but sorry, ... MoreThe LTE feature is completely useless. I even don't mind the battery that only lasts a couple days -- I charge it when I am getting ready in the morning and it goes from usually about 35% to 75% which is all I use during the day (for those who are concerned about lithium battery longevity, 25% to75% is the best operating range anyway) even with stress and Sleep monitoring/oximetry active.I only wish the interbeat heart rate variability data was available separately and not just integrated to the stress reading. That measurement was one of best at measuring cardiac heath risk and is now only becoming practical with wearables (although I do worry with all wearables that the surrogate measurements may not always be accurate in some people whether HRV or sleep)

I'm not sure that's enough for some people but for me those are the only two reasons I'd upgrade? That physical rotating bezel is a big selling point for me.
