I was looking for a 27” Monitor to use primarily for recording music. 4K would be nice to also watch performance videos but it wasn’t necessary. I came across this monitor during Black Friday of 2022. I purchased it but…you guessed it, I caught Covid so the monitor was placed back in stock. When I checked online after I was Covid Free, the monitor price had gone up significantly. After waiting another 6 weeks, the monitor went back to the Black Friday price, and I grabbed it. This monitor is perfect for me. It’s 4k picture was fantastic. You’ll have to calibrate to your exact taste but the fact that you even do that is a plus. It has (2) HDMI 2.0 Inputs as well as (1) Display Port Ver 1.2. The screen is 28” and not 27”. You would think that this would be barely ... You won’t regret buying this monitor, especially if you can get it for under its $350.00 retail price.

I now own the Mac Studio powerhouse with the Studio Display and a 4k display to replace the Sony was in mind. I didn't want to spend a ton of money as Apple did a good of draining my pocketbook. I looked at the Bestbuy website and saw that this monitor was on sale for $219.00. It was in stock. Unfortunately there was not one on display. At first I was totally impressed with the resolution and clarity of the picture but the colors were completely off. I did some playing with the monitor settings. There were some improvements but still not close. My next steps led me to look into the Mac settings to the monitor. By default the Mac will list the color profile as the monitors factory settings. I chose Display P3 as a color profile and that changed everything! My $219.00 Samsung was looking comparably as good as my $1600 Studio Display. Granted I get that the Apple Display is designed for professionals where color accuracy is of upmost importance but at the same time for casual users the Samsung will not disappoint. Given that it was 1/6th the cost of the Studio Display it is well worth the money. BTW I used $109.00 in free Apple Cash that I earned when I purchased the Mac Studio and Display. All said and done I got this monitor for a little over $100.00 out of pocket.

The picture is beautiful! I'm very picky about colors, and the colors on this one are gorgeous. Using it with an HP Spectre laptop. The 4K display is clear; no complaints there. But I hate the design. The base is huge; takes up way too much space on the desk and sticks out 6 full inches in the back! That's 6 inches of wasted space on your desk, folks. I didn't have room for this huge base on my desk, so I thought I'd try to use the monitor with a display arm to free up desk space. That's when I discovered the second problem: The monitor is supposedly compatible with VESA mounts, but the back of the monitor has contouring that causes the VESA bracket not to lie flat, which meant it couldn't be used with the screws that came with the mounting kit. TL;DR - Overall a solid monitor, especially if you can get it on sale (was under $300 at time of review), but might want to go a bit larger unless you either have good eyesight, sit close to the screen (~20 in), or plan to use scaling. Pros: 1) 4k resolution in a fairly compact package 2) IPS panel looks sharp, and did well in a fairly-well lit room 3) Price Cons: 1) Full 4k might be too small for some people without scaling 2) No USB ports 3) Stand is terrible 4) Workaround to utilize VESA mount holes Full Review: I'm not a content creator or anything like that, and don't really game - my use is tons of spreadsheets, email, web browser, etc. and I wanted a cheap 4k monitor that would enable me to have multiple applications open simultaneous without needing to tab ... Display (I'll spend the most time here because, let's face it, you're going to be looking at this thing, like, a lot): I bought this alongside a 32" 4k to compare what I'll call "usability" of a 28" vs 32" 4k at 100% scaling. This monitor has roughly 24.5" of horizontal usable screen space, so at 4k resolution, you're looking at 157 PPI (pixels per inch), which is very dense. For comparison, a 14" 1080p laptop is about 153 PPI, so a pretty good benchmark. 32" 4k is generally around 140 PPI. The positive here is that text is very crisp, but the drawback is that it's small... especially if you start getting into smaller fonts in word or excel, then fuhgeddaboudit. I have fairly decent eyesight (I wear contacts) but not perfect, and I can confidently say this is the smallest I would ever consider going for 4k. IMO you lose the advantages of 4k resolution when you start scaling above 100%, but my use-case is probably different than most. All that said, it is doable, and in the 2 weeks I've had this, I haven't noticed any eye strain (10+ hours/day for quite literally the past 14 days). Ports / Connections: Having both HDMI (x2) and DP is nice, but there are no USB ports. I was hoping to power my monitor light bar via the monitor itself, but wasn't able to (I knew that going in though). If you're using this with a desktop, or have a docking station / USB-hub, this likely won't be an issue for you. Ergonomics: If there's any area where this monitor fails, it's here, and it fails miserably. First off, the stand absolutely SUCKS. It felt flimsy, the tilt function was finnicky, and the stand itself is just a "pressure" fit (i.e., no screws to attach the stand to the monitor). On top of that, as many other reviews have noted, the raised lip around the vesa mount holes presents a challenge. But, this is pretty easily circumvented - go to everyone's favorite retail conglomerate (the one named after the the rainforest in South America) and search for tv mount spacers and there you have it. I had tons laying around from wall mounting TVs in the past, so this wasn't an issue for me at all. However, Other thoughts: - Bottom bezel is a bit thick, but if you're not stacking these monitors, it isn't an issue. I actually think it looks pretty sharp. Side bezels are what I would consider to be thin - Monitor supports sound, but doesn't have speakers. There's a headphone jack in the back of the monitor though. Not a big deal either way to me but might be for some people - Menu is accessed via a "joystick"-type button underneath the monitor. This was new to me, but after playing around with it for a few days, wasn't a problem - This might be a Samsung thing, but if my laptop ever went to sleep while the monitor was plugged in, it would cycle through all of the inputs (2 HDMI, 1 DP) when I woke the laptop again. Minor annoyance, but still, something to note
First things first, this isn’t the worst monitor that I’ve used by far, but it’s not one that I can recommend. I used this monitor for roughly a month, on a daily basis, before I returned it. I used this monitor for various applications that it should be well suited for. From basic web browsing, to watching videos, studying, programming, I even fired up a few games to see what the monitor is capable of. For most basic tasks it’s a serviceable monitor. Text is crisp, colors are acceptable (don’t plan on photo/video editing with any color accuracy) and the size is great. Build quality is decent, and cable management channels are built into the provided stand which is always a nice touch. The screen itself has small bezels and a slightly matte finish. Glare wasn’t too much of an issue, but the brightness isn’t anything to write home about. I didn’t personally have any issues with the menu configuration, or the strange VESA mounting solutions needed for if you don’t plan on using the included stand. These are still concerns other reviewers have voiced and you should factor them into your decision to buy. The problems I had were more regarding the specs and shortcomings of the monitor’s features. You probably won’t find gaming enjoyable on this monitor. 5ms response time paired with 60hz refresh rate feels like molasses compared to the 1ms 144hz I was coming from. The other thing that I had issues with was the variable refresh rate feature of the monitor. When active (and only capable of 48-60hz variance), the screen would noticeably flicker. This was not an issue with cables or my computers. In fact I tried it with both a PC using a 3070ti for output, and with a MacBook Pro M1 Pro with multiple cables (DisplayPort, HDMI, USB C to DP) and the issue persisted. I can’t say if this was just my monitor that had these issues, or if it is widespread. Overall, if you’re going to be using it for office tasks and watching videos or looking at photos I’d say give it a shot if the price is right for you. Personally I’ll be shopping for something with a higher refresh rate, better response times, brighter screen and probably something with 1440p resolution.
This monitor WAS amazing. The picture was stunning, 4K looked beautiful. HDR looked bad so I just left it off. But I used this for gaming (before I knew what 60hz meant) and the color and clarity were unbeatable. For some reason now matter how I adjusted it (which there isn’t much to adjust) it always looked crooked. Idk if my mounting for the monitor wasn’t centered at assembly or the mount was crooked, but with a level it was definitely crooked. Now my purchase history shows I bought this monitor March 13, 2022. It’s March 7, 2023, and last night the display went out. I was sitting there at my desk and the screen just went black. The backlight was still on, but not even the system menu would come up, the whole panel just quit working on me. Samsung’s warranty ... MoreThis monitor WAS amazing. Samsung’s warranty sucks, and at this point I elected to just purchase an Asus monitor as a replacement. I gave it 2 stars because it worked amazingly for a year, but this is an expensive monitor to become useless less than a year later.
This monitor will not show the content on screen to scale accurately and this is why - their spec sheet lists the Active Screen size dimension as 620.928 x 341.28 mm and I can confirm this is correct. If you divide the bigger number from the smaller you get 1.819 which is the aspect ratio factor number, meaning, for every inch on the vertical side you get 1.819 inches on the horizontal. The issue is all standard 16:9 resolutions this monitor is advertised to work with have the same 1.777 ratio factor across the board (you can divide 1920 by 1080 or just 16 by 9 too). What this means is squares are not actually squares when measured on the monitor with a ruler because the 4K resolution is being compressed in a screen size that doesn't match the same aspect ratio as ... What this means is squares are not actually squares when measured on the monitor with a ruler because the 4K resolution is being compressed in a screen size that doesn't match the same aspect ratio as the resolution is set at. The document you have in front of you is supposed to be 8.5x11 but it's not actually represented as such. Only workaround I've found is to set the screen resolution to a custom size that works (3840x2112) on Windows or 2560x1408 (retina HiDpi) on macOS because they will give you a ratio factor of 1.818. This is to closely match the manufactured screen size ratio, so now all content will be scaled properly to the display with squares actually look and measure as squares... Samsung just forgot how to do math with this model. I wouldn't use this for any color critical work either considering there's too many compromises here, although it's not awful since it's still an IPS display. Just the saturation is always cranked up and there's never a great calibration you can get out of it. Also the first monitor I bought 2 years ago has really started deteriorating fast in color vibrance and started to introduce pretty noticeable image retention - not a huge deal breaker but something to point out. The second monitor I got was at least 1 yr after the first and so far so good but I'll monitor if there's any issues popping up with this one. This is still probably one of the cheapest 28, 4K, ~$300 or less IPS display out there but knowing about the issues above, I would consider looking into purchasing another brand like Dell Ultrasharps if you do anything more than basic computer work.
The info at the time I purchased said it didn’t have a headphone out/computer speaker port. It does. It supports standard 3.5mm cable and the speakers I paired with the monitor work flawlessly. The monitor has built in volume control as well. I had to purchase a Display Port to USB C cable to get this monitor to be crisp at the right scaling and resolution. The included HDMI cable is just to get you connected but doesn’t support the maximum specs. It also limited my graphics card resolution options and made my icons look stretched and fat. New Display Port cable did the trick and really sharpened the picture. New Display Port cable did the trick and really sharpened the picture. Now here’s where I’m totally peeved… there is ONE multidirectional knob hidden on the underside of the monitor and you HAVE to use it to switch inputs by pressing it, then going left, then selecting input every time. Then all it does is cycle until you find the next/right one. You can’t even click it twice or three times to keep cycling inputs. This makes it cumbersome and totally mind-numbing for someone constantly switching between 2 inputs/2 devices. I have read other reviews mentioning this and wish I would have considered the validity of their cries vs thinking they were tech illiterate. It cost this monitor a star for me but otherwise the display and picture itself rocks. Not only is the functionality of the knob all around inconvenient but it sometimes turns the monitor off instead of pulling up the menu, or if you accidentally don’t press the knob dead center and go a different direction you bump a different sub menu and have to wait for it to go away off screen to pull the correct one… there’s no quick exit or anything. Terrible, terrible but WONDERFUL for a 1 PC user! It also has only once so far auto-detected and switched inputs on its own. I cannot get it to do that consistently and most monitors these days should be smart enough to consistently detect a sudden feed of input and switch to that port, especially if you’re going to design such a janky knob design for menu and input selections. 3 stars only because it has a beautiful display.
This Samsung monitor is a great buy for the price in the 4K market. While not the most expensive Samsung 4K monitor it does the job well. Out of the box screen is bright as normal manufacturer settings so you will need to adjust your picture settings to a brightness and tone that works for you. Like other reviews I read, yea 4K is great for movies, working on pictures and also I find amazing with Excel numbers/line grids. However it does makes your letter a little too small when adjust to full 4K settings as all 4K resolution so use a regular monitor as regular surfing will experience a small text but you get use to it if use for a month or so. If you watch 4K content or use 4K monitor it will be harder to adjust back to regular monitor. Overall the monitor quality is super B, side big enough as 32” is a over kill for a computer monitor. Color is actually very good if you adjust your filters to your liking. I used the custom option to adjust my screen to the best settings for my need and then compare with the fracture bright settings. Also the split screen option is amazing because you can use it as your computer monitor half screen and stream like from IPTV on the other half just convenient. I give it a 4.5 star for price and quality.
The monitor worked from the very beginning. However, occasionally I have had to jump through hoops to get the monitor to recognize that both electrical cords are, in fact, properly connected, even though it is showing they are not. Other times only the HTML 1 box will display along with the adjustment screen. More hoops to jump through. The adjustment knob on the center bottom of the screen is a joke! The aforementioned knob is worthless in trying to navigate/overcome these challenges, and frequently other features are inadvertently turned on or off while trying to use the button to navigate/correct the initial problem. I had other more serious problems with an ACER monitor and grew tired of dealing with them. Even though the Acer Monito was still under warranty, I gave up in frustration and purchased what I thought to be a better-quality monitor. I was obviously mistaken.
