Samsung really needs to get their act together. At this point, I don't plan on buying another piece of electronic equipment from them going forward. I also see many people claiming to be having nothing but a great experience with the Neo G9, but it's too much of a dice roll and I wouldn't recommend this monitor to my worst enemy at the moment. Buyer beware.

The monitor as strictly a monitor is a very good monitor and connects to my MacBook Pro both wirelessly and via hdmi without issue. There are many video settings and options for calibration with my MacBook Pro.. The Streaming options are wonderful and rich with Samsung TV. Features not tested:or only limitedly - SamsungDex and the web apps for Microsoft. I have O365 on my MacBook. However, in my opinion, you need to seriously know the limitations that I encountered that could affect your use and expectations. The biggest fault is poor/missing/inaccurate documentation and a support team equipped to answer straight forward questions. If there are ways around these short comings, I was unable to find Google articles or support documents - either missing or failed worked to make them work. ——1) I think the smart features are A) missing important apps that most customers would need: Facebook, Messenger, and Zoom (note you can access via the internet browser but the browser will not allow access to a webcam!) B) half-baked, poorly documented and customer sales support is woefully uninformed a) I tried to follow the instructions to setup a Google Meet, but every set of instructions I followed did not allow me to setup a new Google Meet account on my iPhone and/or iPad.. This would likely be a call to support, but it is not Google Meet I really want to use. Everyone I am meeting with uses Zoom or Messenger Video Calls. B) The mobility app refuses to allow me to fully connect from my iPhone and iPad. They are all on the same Wi-Fi network but they fail to display the screens. I had to purchase screen mirroring apps to display my iPhone and iPad screens on the monitor wirelessly or use a hdmi cable. C) No way to download apps via an App Store Video WebCam Experience: I knew from reading Amazon q&a that the camera wasn’t included, but I waited until I received and setup the monitor before selecting one. Also note that in all of the manuals there is nothing that mentions which cameras are supported and which are not. Nor does it mention that there are only 2 ways / apps that even use the camera. Upon receiving my webcam, I plugged it in and couldn’t get it to recognize that I plugged it in and selected the connect a device - web camera. It instead displayed a message “connect a supported web camera…and listed several Logitech 9xx & StreamCam models and 2 Samsung models. And referred to a document on the web that listed supported cameras. The instructions on the monitor are not current and point you to missing documentation on the web. I called support to see what I must be misunderstanding. The support agent that answered is the only person from whom I received any real support. She confirmed it was missing and said that this isn’t a support call but customer sales support, gave me the number to call. Ultimately, I ended up returning my camera because I could not get anyone to confirm whether it was supported or not…after 2 hours of being passed from one team to another 5 in all and the last one was to pass me to the correct team…15 minutes later my call was dropped. After ordering and receiving the Logitech StreamCam, I tried to connect and use the supported Webcam, but I got the same screen instructing me to plug it etc. But this time, I decided to try differently. I went further and discovered I could get it to activate if I wanted to see myself alongside a video ie exercise see&do. This established the webcam is recognized and works under this scenario. But not very helpful for video calling. Ultimately to use webcam for Zoom or Messenger I had to connect it to my MacBook Pro and the MacBook Pro to the monitor. It limits where and how I use this feature.

I thought maybe seven or so months after release Samsung would have solved this problem, so I ordered one during Samsung's Black Friday sale. It was delivered and hooked up to my PC immediately using the display port cable they ship with the monitor. By default it's set to 120Hz mode and you need to go into the monitor menu and change it to 240Hz mode. As soon as I did this I immediately noticed a difference in the monitor's display. It's like looking at the monitor screen through a screen door, with finely thin noticeable lines all throughout the screen. If you disable 240Hz mode and re-enable 120Hz mode the screen door issue disappears. ... Well no one ever called me, but I did receive an e-mail saying I should create a repair ticket. I attempted to do so, but the automated system wanted to charge me $230 to send this off for repair. So that lead to another chat support session which eventually lead to chat support creating the repair ticket themselves. They provided a QR code and told me to take the monitor to UPS and have them package it for shipping for repair. So now I'm waiting for a monitor that I just purchased to get repaired and be sent back to me. By the way they don't provide an ETA for repair time and shipping the monitor back. I would like to say it is not all doom in gloom in regard to the monitor though. When I used it in 120Hz mode it was fantastic! The amazingly bright HDR2000 display gets so bright sometimes that I have to squint to not go blind! On the flip side, the black levels are on par with any OLED display I have ever seen, and I am not exaggerating that statement at all! The curved panel took a bit to get used to, but once that happened I actually miss it now that it's gone out for repair. Sitting at just the right distance with the curved panel almost gives it a surround vision vibe. All in all I really do love this monitor and I can't wait to get it back repaired and ready to go!

Now when I watch the latest MCU epic, I cringe to imagine seeing it in anything less than glorious 4k. The 240hz refresh at only the moderately lower WQHD resolution allows me to catch details I never noticed before in some of my long time favorite movies and shows. Even with the newer Odyssey Ark set to release in September 2022, this is still an exquisite monitor. Some may like the newer model for the taller height, higher refresh on 4k, and innovative portrait mode viewing option. I prefer this design for it's ability to mimic a dual display setup using one piece of hardware, and it's total immersive curvature.

Besides that, monitor offers really strong pros: - cheap 4k - cheap 144 hz - bright hdr (it is only hdr 400 standard, but still it is way more, than enough for me) - stable stand, which really moves lightly - back illuminance (was OK, but it was still too bright in the dark) - matte finish of the screen (rather a standard than a feature, but it is not always that way) - thick bezel - nicely looking black finish - lightweight - headphone out (shame it is not lineout for speakers, but it is better than nothing). I'm satisfied with that purchase, especially in that price range. 28" fits perfectly in gap between standard monitor size and big tv-monitor hybrids.
TDLR: Absolutely not worth the price, $350 flat fee to repair it even when they don't know what is wrong with it and it has multiple point of failures. Please do research before buying this blindly like I did from YouTube videos. Too many point of failures, this monitor has the be the pinnacle of problem solving. After of year this monitor just gave out, after flickering on and off often through out the year to completely blacking out. The display ports on the monitor just completely stopped working and so did the hdmi port, eventually I got the hdmi port back (I let it sit on my mount for almost another year before touching it again.) Please do research before buying this blindly like I did from YouTube videos. Too many point of failures, this monitor has the be the pinnacle of problem solving. After of year this monitor just gave out, after flickering on and off often through out the year to completely blacking out. The display ports on the monitor just completely stopped working and so did the hdmi port, eventually I got the hdmi port back (I let it sit on my mount for almost another year before touching it again.) After talking to an expert I got called and told it would cost $350 flat fee to pay for the repair, I asked if they knew what was wrong with it and they said no they have to check. So you are charging me right off the bat $350 for a repair that could be simple to fix. My brother has an Asus monitor for around the same price range that has superior colors and has lived longer then my own monitor. Paying so much for a monitor with multiple point of failures is ignorance and I fell for it. Please do your research on this monitor, it is not worth the headache or hassle you will go through, menu button unreliable trash, flickering, black screens and ports not working properly. It has been sitting for like a whole year gathering dust. When I did get help from a samsung expert everything they asked me to do failed. During this time frame my warranty just had expired (1 month from the date of expiration.) Samsung called me and said they could fix it for $300 to $350, I asked the rep what was wrong with it and they told me, we do not know we would have to check. So you are telling me I paid $700 for this monitor and you want me to send you it and pay you $300 for you to fix something that you don't know? So you are telling me if it is a simple fix I'll still get charged $300? Not worth the money at all, my brother has a Asus monitor in the same price range, actually less that has godly performance and quality. PLEASE BE ADVISE OF THIS WARNING, do your research, look it up, this monitor has MULTIPLE problems. It is absolutely not worth the price especially when they are ready to charge you $300 for a fix.
I upgraded to this monitor from a Samsung CRG9, which is several models older but also similar to the Neo G9, so not as dramatic a change as when I first used a curved 49 ultrawide as I am already used to that design. The Neo G9 is an excellent improvement over the CRG9 as it has twice the refresh rate, dramatic improvement in colors and HRD, and 10 Bits of color. I thought going from a 1800R curve to a 1000R curve might be too much, but in reality, I got used to it very quickly and now prefer the 1000R over the 1800R CRG9 I have used for the last three years. I debated for a long time if this would be a worthwhile upgrade from my CRG9, and I have no regrets about upgrading as the colors, crispness, and HRD are a dramatic improvement. I debated getting the ARK, but due to a lack of multiple input sources (BPB), I went to the Neo G9. I use the BPB function that both CRG9 and NEO 9 have to have my work laptop on the right half of the screen and personal desktop on the left side of the screen and can easily go from one to the other using my mouse and keyboard that have a built-in multiple Bluetooth connections. For me, that is a configuration that works well for work productivity. I received the monitor with older firmware. I highly recommend updating the latest firmware as it fixes many issues described in the earlier reviews related to HRD. I recommend using the Display port connection rather than the HDMI 2.1 connection if you want a 240 Hz refresh rate. The monitor will arrive at a refresh rate set to 120 Hz. You will need to change it to 240 Hz. Many walkthrough articles on setting up the NEO G9 will show you how to change to the 240 Hz refresh rate, etc. One thing that none mentioned is you are using HRD in Windows 11, which causes colors to be washed out in SDR (not the monitor's fault but a windows issue). Use the new windows HRD calibration app (you can find it in the windows store) to calibrate HRD. This will create a custom color profile and fixes the washed-out SDR colors. This also fixed the same issue with the CRG9. I did not have any dead pixels or any issues with the monitor's quality control that some reviews reported. Another issue frequently reported is a popping sound as the monitor warms and cools or changes resolutions. I have that issue with my CRG9, which is loud and distracting. The loud popping was one of the motivators to replace my CRG9, and I am happy to report I have not encountered the issue with my NEO G9. As for the negatives of the NEO G9, the monitor only has one Display port connection and two HDMI 2.1, whereas the CRG 9 had 2 Display ports and one HDMI connection. This seems to go backwards to only having one display port connection, as HDMI 2.1 is not capable of 240 Hz on this monitor. However, my work laptop is connected to HDMI 2.1, and my desktop is to the display port. When using BPB, the refresh rate is capped at 120 Hz, so using an HDMI connection for my work laptop is perfectly fine. If you have never used an ultrawide curved monitor, it will take a little getting used to, but once you do, you will never want to go back to anything else.
