Why these aren’t more popular and why more people don’t own them I do not know. We like the minimalistic approach that no big tv sitting on the wall or tv cabinet. A 98” TV weighs approximately 100kg requiring several people to relocate it. This can be relocated between rooms in a matter of minutes. When it comes to formula one or rugby, this thing looks insane and for the price that these are, I’m surprised they’re not as popular. The online reviews about rainbow effects and speckle is rubbish. People spend way too much time looking at spec sheets and looking for issues rather than seeing them for themselves. Just buy one and I guarantee you will no longer want a normal TV anymore. Biggest advantage, no harmful blue light or eye strain.

Look, this thing is wicked. I came from a 1080p Benq long distance projector and holy moley, is this an upgrade! The colours and overall brightness are INCREDIBLE. This thing is crisp as hell too. We are currently projecting onto a very light grey wall and it is amazing. Don't get me wrong if you can afford a ALR screen, get one! But it is absolutely not necessary. Some cons and wishes: - Harder to set up than long throw projectors. Prepare to take some time messing around with it. - Your projection surface must be FLAT and I mean FLAT. Any variation in surface smoothness/angle will butcher the image. - Projector has to be very low and surprisingly far from the wall to look any good and usable. The input response for gaming at 60hz is fine, and I don't notice any input lag. But still, it's a shame. It's hard to find any specs online for the HDMI. Turns out it's HDMI 2.0 with eArc support. This projector does NOT support HDMI 2.1.

Excellent product!

We were skeptical about how the image would be during daytime. Where we stay, JB Hifi doesn't have it for demo. So I guess, they don't promote it much. I googled around and learned that a white screen is in fact not recommended if you have ambient light in your viewing area. We have painted our wall Gray (Dulux: Endless Dusk to be precise) and we are loving the picture during daytime as well, and works at night of course! Since everyone is bringing out the good points (which are a plenty seeing I've given 5 star ratings) I'll list the shortfalls first: 1. So-so sound, w/o the Bass. I'd definitely hook it up to a dedicated sound system for that cinema effect, like we have done. 2. There are curves, since it'd be a plaster board wall on a wooden frame (which is how they make houses here). So despite adjusting the image, you'll still see that horizontal lines will curve one way or the other. You'll just have to live with that - or buy a dedicated screen that cost upwards of $2000 for 120" or so. 3. The remote could have been better - no dedicated buttons, no backlight and there's plenty of lags - 2 or 3 seconds. So sometimes you press keys and end up selecting the wrong menu. 4. Not all latest codecs get supported. So if you cannot play the movie that's on your USB stick, try connecting it via a dedicated media player that supports it. 5. Try going for a lower TV stand (around 300mm high) for a bigger picture. Most TV stands are at least 450mm tall. So if you can't find any, think of a coffee table. Lower the better. If you can keep it on the floor - nothing like it. But then the wires and cables get exposed. Now some good points on why we love it: 1. We got it at a discount. So good value for money over spending a little less and going for an 85" Sony. 2. You switch it off - you reclaim the wall. Can't do that with a TV! 3. If you have used a Samsung TV, you will hit the ground running. Everything feels the same. 4. Definitely worth spending more money than the other lower Laser projector being offered by Samsung (SP-LSP7TFAXXY). 5. There's no physical cover to the lens. So unless you cover it when not in use, (we use a white cloth), expect the lens pick up dust that you'd normally vacuum way on the floor. They should have given an automated cover like they do on point and shoot cameras. 6. Ensure you can darken the room as much as you can for a better experience. 7. You'll hear comments that it should have been black. We love it white. During night, when you look at the screen, you'll not notice it. And during daytime (and night) when its off, it'll just camouflage with your surroundings - we've had guests who didn't even realise its there! So yes, white it is!

Excellent projector, impressive image quality
7 October 2022

Brought this laser projector on sale to replace an old LED projector. Totally pleased with the purchase. The image quality is excellent, even without a screen. Keeping the projector ~40cm from the wall will give a 120" image. 4K image quality is impressive, with sufficient brightness and accurate colour reproduction. Compared to my 75" QLED TV, the projector gives a huge and immersive viewing experience. Although the inbuilt speakers produce decent sound, you may need a good soundbar to match the large image format. I have combined this with a Samsung Q990b sound bar, which takes movie watching to the next level. Initial setup is not too difficult, but you may need to make some fine adjustments to get the image without any geometrical distortion. i.e. if you want to move the projector around, you need to adjust it each time. The projector comes fully loaded- WiFi, TV tuner, 2 HDMI ports, ARC port and major streaming apps. It works with Google, Alexa and Bixby. The Premiere offers a dramatic home cinema experience that will make you feel like you're in a theatre. In summary, this is an excellent all-in-one solution that can provide a home cinema experience right out of the box with an easy setup. Really worth the money. Strongly recommend. (NB: Those who are purchasing a projector for the first time- you need a dark room to get a good image quality, period. A projector will not replace your TV for daytime watching in a brightly lit room, even if you have an ALR screen, which costs more than one grand)

I currently own an Optoma UHZ65UST which produces an absolutely amazing 4k picture on my ALR screen, however the smart UI is extremely poor on the Optoma so i decided to purchase the Samsung LS9PT, mainly based on the Tizen operating system and the Triple Laser colour rec. I was super excited to receive this projector and was ready to chuck out the Optoma. When i received the unit, i was really pleased with the design. It looks much smarter than the Optoma and feels like a typical premium Samsung product. The throw range is entirely different to my Optoma which meant the projector needed to be much higher up than my current setup. It looks much smarter than the Optoma and feels like a typical premium Samsung product. The throw range is entirely different to my Optoma which meant the projector needed to be much higher up than my current setup. This was an easy enough fix though and i just purchased a stand that the projector sat upon on my entertainment system. Setup was super simple using the smart things app. I did have some trouble with aligning the projector, it's certainly not as simple as the Optoma which just uses a smartphone app to auto align the image. Samsung is a totally manual adjustment process. I have a £2k premium ALR screen which produces amazing 4k pictures with the Optoma, however this is where it all started to go wrong with the LS9PT. Because the projector needs to sit much closer to the screen I had unbearable laser speckle. 4k & Full HD videos looked appalling. It looked likeIi was watching SDR content rather than 4k video. I tried everything over a couple of days to sort this issue as I was desperate for the projector to work. I read hours of forum post where the LS9PT is discussed as well as watching lots of youtube videos. It does seem that the LS9PT suffers from laser speckle or glittering in quite a big way according to other independent reviewers. I spent hours adjusting the image trying to tone down the speckling but to no avail. I did speak with Samsung tech support, but to be totally honest based on my previous experiences with Samsung support and their customer service I did not hold out much hope. Every time I had had to deal with Samsung customer care team they have proved to be abysmal - they never understand what you are saying to them and you just go round and round in circles. My experience this week was no different. I love Samsung products, they definitely make the nicest looking tech, but they seriously let their customers down with there customer care. I feel this massively damages their brand. I found the whole process of dealing with Samsung Customer Services extremely stressful and even distressing! I was left with little choice but to very regretfully return the LS9PT. It was actually devastated as i loved the projector, but there was no way i could cope with the extremely poor video output. I did consider just accepting the laser speckle as i really did love the projector, but at over £3k i just couldn't justify it. I am not sure if this is a problem with how the triple laser works or if it is just due to the fact the projector has to be so much closer to my screen, causing huge light reflection and hotspots. Bizarrely there are absolutely no settings to turn down the brightness on this projector!! On my Optoma everything is fully adjustable including the brightness. I honestly think that if Samsung introduced a firmware update to reduce the brightness then this may have solved the appalling laser speckle/glittering effect. Positives from this projector are, looks amazing, fantastic Tizen UI - much much better than Optoma. All the VOD apps you could ever want in the UK. Built in DVB tuner (amazing!). Fantastic eye popping colour. Negatives are, no brightness control, no USB DVR facilities for recording live tv. Massive amount of Laser Speckle/Glittering which makes the image look like 30yr old SD content! I truly am so upset that i am forced to return the LS9PT. I wanted to love it so much. I don't want to put anyone off of purchasing this device, however if they don't sort out the laser speckle then you may find yourself in the same situation that i was in. Gutted isn't the word! Final word - Samsung PLEASE sort out your customer care!!! It is beyond awful, so much so that it puts me off of buying your brand!! Train them, reading from a script is just frustrating to your loyal customers who love your products!

I bought my Samsung projector TV a year ago. Its the best investment I ever made. I was renovating the house at the time and made sure the wall was as smooth as I could get it. That being said it's an old house with minor imperfections on the wall but the picture is just awesome. Now that I have this I will never go back to a 'normal' TV. The picture is massive. I bought a Samsung soundbar to go with it and it definitely improves the sound quality. I should have sold tickets to the neighbours. I love my Samsung projector TV. be prepared- the dogs will now stare at the TV and bark at large animals on it haha! I also bought Harvey Norman product care when I bought the projector, just in case anything went wrong with it. I have always found the product care well worth the money- but to date have not had to use it with the projector.

Not good enough to justify the price
12 September 2022

I had really high expectations from this projector - and rightfully so, it cost an arm and a leg! Set up was easy enough and the picture quality was a big step up from my old (and much cheaper) 1080p projector. But, and it's a big but, the contrast/black levels are extremely poor. And I know projectors aren't ever gonna be like OLED TVs in that department, but this projector's understanding of black is washed out grey at best. I think for the price, it could've been MUCH better. So I'm not sure if I could recommend this. (If it was half the price, then maybe). And a big issue I experienced with this one is the rainbow effect. My old cheap projector had no such issues, but it's definitely quite an issue with The Premiere. It's worse if you move your eyes while watching something (like a normal human would). I'm tempted to return this, but I hear Samsung can be quite difficult to deal with when it comes to returns, and I'm not sure I have the energy. We'll see. So all in all, I would say there are better ones UST projectors out there. If you catch this on an amazing sale, like half price or more, then maybe go for it cause then you might have lower expectations than I did.

It is also much larger, wider and heavier than I expected but to be fair the weight is due to the high quality construction. It's very similar to the first VCRs in terms of size and weight. (Remember those?) Performance-wise, it overdelivers far above its listed specs. Despite listing a max 120" projection size, I am projecting a full 147" picture onto a plain white wall without use of a projection screenwith absolutely no issues with clarity, sharpness, color, or focus. The picture is perfectly rectangular and focus is consistent and sharp even all the way out to the edges. The picture is bright enough in Dynamic mode to be visible even with full ambient lighting from both a chandelier and a floor lamp AND natural sunlight coming in through a window. Naturally this washes out the picture a bit but it's still quite watchable even without a special light rejecting screen. Of course, turning out the lights and closing the blinds brings out much more brightness, color and contrast for a richer picture. Still, absolutely no need to turn out all the lights if you don't want to. The sound from the forward facing 2.2 speakers is loud and clear and packs a surprisingly good amount of bass. The sound quality is far better than I've encountered on any smart television. The projector is a full smart TV replacement and has both a standard antenna cable and 3 HDMI inputs for cable boxes. The HDMI 1 port is E-ARC capable for console, PC and Blu-Ray player users. It has full smart TV capabilities and uses the same Tizen OS that Samsung's TVs use and offers the most popular smart apps. The settings user interface is also identical with projector specific controls. Keystone and focus are fully digitally controlled. For techheads, you have full control over the color gamuts the projector can use. The biggest challenge new users will have is setting up the projection properly. This requires physically manipulating the height the projector sits at, how close it is to the wall/screen, changing its left/right angles, pushing the rear legs up vertically to even the image out, and then digital changing the keystone and focus if necessary. It is not always clear whether a physical change or a digital one is needed to fix an issue with image. It took an hour's worth of experimentation to figure things out and sometimes involved literally adjusting the projector's position by mere millimeters. The end result is very much worth the effort, though. My only issue is that I feel the adjustable back legs could be much longer than they actually are. Okay, maybe the second biggest challenge. The actual biggest challenge will be the price. It's quite a bit higher than most high-end TVs and even some other competing UST projectors. That said, it bests the other USTs with its smart TV capabilities and doesn't require a separate streaming device and delivers a far larger picture than even the most expensive TVs currently available with just one exception: Samsung's own micro-LED driven The Wall modular panel TV. This is a fabulous device that has made me into a projector convert. There is absolutely no way I am going back to a regular TV ever again.

Terrible Value for Money
19 December 2022

I fully regret my purchase, and this projector has convinced me to never buy Samsung Again. This was supposed to be an "upgrade" from my 1080P UST Laser Projector (from another manufacturer). I'll admit the pros up front though Pros: -Very clear. The 4k is crisp -Bright. The Laser light source does it's job, but see con about contrast. -Quiet Fans. The fans on this projector are pretty much silent Cons: -TERRIBLE contrast!! This isn't a screen/lighting issue. Comparing to my previous projector, the Samsung is significantly washed out in Dim scenes. When the screen should be black, the Samsung still bleeds too much light. Bad light engine design. -ADVERTISEMENTS! After spending several thousands of dollars on this projector, Samsung sees fit to put advertisements IN ... MoreI fully regret my purchase, and this projector has convinced me to never buy Samsung Again. Comparing to my previous projector, the Samsung is significantly washed out in Dim scenes. When the screen should be black, the Samsung still bleeds too much light. Bad light engine design. -ADVERTISEMENTS! After spending several thousands of dollars on this projector, Samsung sees fit to put advertisements IN the projector itself. They're in the menu, not even inside apps. You'll see ads just trying to switch inputs -TERRIBLE Audio Support: Trying to use eARC with a surround sound system is a nightmare. After spending an hour with Customer Support, I found the Samsung Projector breaks surround sound with a Nintendo Switch, an incredibly popular and widespread gaming console! The Nintendo Switch and Sound system support "5.1 LPCM" But the Samsung projector will not pass through the audio, and instead forces it to stereo. Samsung stated they have no plan to fix this software. -Laggy/Broken UI: Samsung penny pinched HARD on their "smart" hardware. Any time I try to use the menus, everything lags. You hit the same button 20 times, nothing happens. Then after ages of waiting, the cursor will fly across the screen. The remote has no input button, so you have no choice but to navigate the home menu just to change inputs. What should take minutes, can genuinely take over a minute of infuriating waiting. I wanted to buy from a more 'reputable' manufacturer for my projector upgrade, and Samsung has made me regret it on pretty much every front. But at least the fans are quieter so I don't have to turn up the volume too much at night. Given the chance to go back, I would have purchased from a different manufacturer.

The greatest all in 1 short throw projector!
6 May 2022

I bought this item about 10 months ago when it first came out. I was actually told I was the 1st owner in Melbourne Australia to purchase such product, thats because of its hefty price compared to other short throw projectors! But my gosh this projector is worth every cent! I have seen and used many projectors and nothing comes anywhere close. 1stly the brightness, depth rich clour and clarity the tripple laser brings is OMG!! even in broad daylight I can still see so clearly and its proper native 4K resolution too, many others are upscale 4K, big big difference. The quietness as well is very important to me, I can't hear anything unlike other projectors with their loud fans! it never heats up and stays cool including the bulb, which is important for a long life ... MoreI bought this item about 10 months ago when it first came out. The UI interface is clean, easy and perfect (and in english lol) with excellant voice command. many other projectors somehow get all this wrong and its in a different language. Its not too heavy and bulky, I say its a medium size compared to others. And the sound quality for its stock stereo speakers is suprisingly not to shabby! Very clear with some decent low end. But I suggest pairing it with a Samsung surround sound system for the ultimate experience. I dont go to the cinemas anymore... All in all, this product is truely amazing in every way! Its the lamborghini of short throw projectors and I am still not able to find 1 little fault! I've not had 1 single problem since purchasing this product. I clap my hands and tip my hat of to Samsung. Well done....
