I received the Rokinon 85mm lens and it looks great, however, when attached to my R5 the shutter button would not activate the lens to take an image. I had high hopes for this economical lens but looks like now I will have to go with the Real RF-85.

Bought this to round off my collection of lenses. Tried it out once, once you get use to focusing manually it’s a great lens with great looking background! Recommend for anyone on a budget!

Sometimes it bugs out and autofocus stops working until you reattach the lens. But no regrets purchasing it. Sharpness rivals the best that is available out there. Autofocus is fast, its one of my favorite lenses. Love it.
Overall summary:A nice lens with decent sharpness when you hit focus. When shooting high contrast scenes I would suggest f/2.8 and smaller as the color fringing/aberrations are very noticeable with anything wider. Certainly a good purchase if you don’t want to spend the $2700 on the canon 85mm and want a native RF mount portrait lens with a very narrow depth of field. I would rate this lens a 3.5 out of 5 for having a nice bokeh, shallow depth of field, good low light performance, and being a decently sharp bit of kit. I am keeping it but it isnt my favorite. The good:While it is hard to keep a subject in focus, the super shallow depth of field this lens offers is very nice for subject separation from the background. There is very little distortion, it is almost ... MoreOverall summary:A nice lens with decent sharpness when you hit focus. There is very little distortion, it is almost not noticeable. The lens seems very sturdy and is constructed mainly with metal. The focus ring is tight but smooth to turn, there is about 110° of movement with the focus ring so you can make small exact adjustments when focusing. There is very little vignetting that is only noticeable below f/2.8.The not so good:It is a manual lens so you have to be sure to hit focus where you want and with the incredibly shallow depth of field this lens has; any changes in distance to your subject will equate to an out of focus shot unless you are using f/8 or small of an aperture.I find that in most situations f/1.4 is unusable for a few reasons, the chromatic aberrations are very pronounced, the depth of field is so shallow that you have to use a tripod and shoot a completely stationary subject to get what you want in focus, and there is a very noticeable bright area in the center of the frame which is more noticeable in low light scenes. The sharpness overall is not spectacular however shooting with f/2.8 and above does increase the sharpness of your focus area.Does not take advantage of the new RF mount communication protocol so it does not have a control ring.
I REALLY want the Canon EOS R RF lens for my RP, but it costs entirely too much. Thankfully, B & H had this lens for a fantastic price and it's worth every penny. Sharp as ever and great quality, the only downside is that it is a manual focus lens only, but I am used to manual focus on camera gear.
Although it said refurbished, it looks like brand new out of the box with original packaging, etc. I was surprised that it came with the latest firmware. It works with my R6 ibis and H+.
This is a great lens if you are willing to shoot with manual focus. It works perfectly with the Canon R system, you just need to enable release shutter without lens in the menu. Photos are sharp and quality is beautiful! This has by far been a better experience than I had with the 85mm f/2. Plus this lens is less expensive AND has weather sealing. A no brainer in my book!
