An excellent fast manual focus lens. When you nail the focus (the dof at 1.4 is very, very thin) the lens is sharp across the frame. Nice colour rendition, great bokeh, very well made. Highly recommended.

I received my lens today and have been using it all day. I have it mounted on a D-5500 and it takes great photos. The manual focus process is something I wanted to test and its not that difficult. The bokeh is unreal and the mechanisms for focusing are smooth and easy to adjust. This is definitely worth your consideration if you dont have the money for expensive lenses but want this focal length in your bag.

Good lens at a good price, once they matched Adorama's price. It is VERY heavy for its size and that is a bigger issue than the fact it is not auto anything
If you are looking for an affordable with no compromise with image quality, try this lens. It's manual focus but you can achieve accurate focus with practice. Build quality is excellent. Focus ring is nice and damp. I will recommend this product.
I have been using this lens since I got it. I even Shot a wedding with it soon after I got it June 10. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. However, the only down side is the manual focal. Needs to be Auto in times like wedding shooting when you need to be quick on the action, the overall circumference could be a bit meatier and a shorter minimum focal length would make it a far Superior lens. But all in all. great lens for the price. Well done.
Excellent lens for the money, once you get the hang of it being completely manually operated on the focus and aperture. It's heavier than the Nikkor z 85mm, but not too heavy, it feels balanced and easy to operate with smooth even focus. Picture quality is outstanding, especially as a portrait lens, offering unbelievable bokeh. I think it's a no brainer for the kit bag if you use an 85mm on occasion and for less than half the price of it's Nikon cousin. If Samyang ever introduce autofocus and electronic control...watch out Nikkor! Nothing comes close for outstanding picture quality and value for money.
I never used Samyang before. This is my first tryout for the third party brand beside my favorite Sigma brand. I was skeptical at first but I did give it a try due the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the built quality. Once I get used to the manual focus lens, I can get amazing pictures quality. The color rendering and sharpness is pretty much comparable with Nikon pro lens. I cannot tell the difference with my Naked eyes. Unlike some other reviews, people might say the picture is not sharp and soft. I have similar situations at first, but it was just how we manually focused the lens. I figured that once I got a decent focus picture on the viewfinder, then I can verify the sharpness at 100% zooming in and I can adjust the sharpness if needed. Only taken a few photos with this lensLens is of good quality, nice metal feel but its heavy in hand and but ok when on camera.The lens hood seems to unclip very easy too.It's easy to use but hard to get perfect focus being a manual dumb lens.Photos taken with this lens seem clear, good colour and bokeh maybe just lacks saturation.For the price point it's an excellent choice, just ashame it's MF and not AF like the canon version.
Pro. The lens is sharp. Good value for money. Con. Manual focus. But can overcome by Zs manual focus assist. As the lens is for portrait man auto focus may not be helpful.
