Excellent Product to Replace an Older SSD with less capacity. Although aware that Windows10 fits quite comfortably on a 240GB, after much cost deliberation took the plunge to replace an 240GB SSD Sandisk Plus with the 1TB SSD Sandisk Ultra. The older drive was home for only the Windows/10 OS. The upgrade allowed keeping the OS, and all essential data, photos, music and videos on the same drive, each category in its own partition. Other non-essential and large files (think movies) remain on HDD. As I do some photo-editing and video-editing, it is pleasing to know that all load much quicker now. Oh, I stuck the old SSD in an old Netbook so there was also a gain in speed there. Glad that I made the decision to upgrade.

I used this for an old Mac laptop and replaced the original hard drive to this SSD. As expected the speed was 10x faster from boot time to loading applications. Even with a 10 year old processor i5 this SSD made the Mac faster than it was originally. I also use Samsung SSDs but this one has the same speed but cheaper. I also used Sandisk USB to load the Mac OS which is very reliable. I partition and format it many times loading Mac or Windows OS. So this is one of the brands I trust.

Installed this drive in an older i5 4670K system that is still plenty fast enough for most tasks even today. My older laptop is happy and much faster, the SSD replaces an HDD. The base speed of the computer is the same, but where the disk is part of the operation, it has gone from a few minutes to less than a second in worst case response times. Hooray. The WD Dashboard tool is not working on my machine at the moment. Before the upgrade Acronis was having problems, but I created a bootable USB on one of my other computers and ran Acronis to clone the SSD. I hope WD Dashboard will start working again soon.
Good Points: This is the second time I have replaced the Hard Drive in my laptops with a SSD 1TB hard drive. I am very impressed that this increases the speed of my two laptops and certainly they both now start up and down load emails within a few minutes where previously with even my HP I7 it could take me at least ten minutes to switch on and download the first few emails. Very pleased with both laptops an I5 and the I7.Improvement Points: The two SSD drives are excellent. I was quite a task moving all my software programmes and data across to the new drives. I purchased a caddy case and installed the old drive in that and used it as an external drive so I could copy everything across. I would recommend this SanDisk SATA SSD to anyone. I installed a 480GB SanDisk Extreme Pro in my daughter's laptop (cloned it from existing HHD) back in 2015 and she has had absolutely no issues whatsoever. Made her laptop several times faster to use while saving on battery. I purchased this 1T SanDisk Ultra to replace my existing 1T HDD in my computer. I run an i7-8700K desktop with GTX 1080 Ti GPU that boots from a Samsung 960 Pro M.2 512GB NVMe SSD but it still uses a 1T WD HDD for extra storage. I need the HDD to install in my old (first gen i7) computer to give my granddaughter to allow her more storage beyond the 256GB SSD boot drive in it. So, rather than buy another hard drive as I had been planning and because SSD prices have dropped so much, it made more sense to me to use faster SSD storage instead. Anyway, SanDisk is a good brand that offered speeds as fast as the most popular brands and at a better price. Also, their warranty is for the same period - 5 years.
Using Western Digital's Acronis, I could neither clone from my Western Digital Blue internal HDD nor "restore" from my Western Digital external hard drive. It declared that my Archive was corrupted. So, I had to test it. I have another drive. It is a Western Digital Blue HDD. I was able to restore from the external drive. Conclusion: The Sandisk SSD is defective.
I bought this for an Atomos SSD recorder and it works great! But pretty much any modern SSD would do the trick for high data-rate (200mbps+) video recording because 200 megabits/sec is only 25 megaBytes/sec. SSD write speeds exceed 200 megaBytes/sec. The big benefit of SSD is the transfer speed moving video to a drive for editing. It's blazing fast compared to the fastest SD cards. If I needed an SSD for a computer OS drive, I'd get the Crucial MX500 instead for better overall performance for about the same price. Overall, though, I think this is very good SSD.
These Sandisk ultras are my go-to drives for clients due to their historically reliable performance. When it comes to SSDs, speed really isn't my concern even though these do run pretty fast for a sata drive. What I care about is the long warranty and good TBW rating. This is also one of the last models that still has DRAM and uses TLC tech (if they haven't changed it without telling anyone) so it should theoretically have lower failure rates than something with MLC/QLC. Price has been fluctuating but at the moment still pretty decent price per gig.
