Clever designed compact flash drive.

I use the drive attached to my key ring, so, its very compact size and narrow key chain connector work great. The double lighting and C connectors really help since you don't have to carry an extra memory device for your phone. Either end can be set to forward so which ever end you use most often is quickly available. The plastic guard fits either end and keeps the connector clean while in my dirty pocket. Only problem is that the lighting connector will not fit on my phone with the Otter case on the phone--the case has to be removed.

Again, BOTH BRAND NEW drives do this on a brand new iPhone ! Probably due to the inaccessibility of the drive by the current operating system? Also on many occasions of trying, the drive just stopped even being recognized altogether by iOS and kept prompting to insert iXpand drive even though it was already inserted. I tried changing operating system and software settings. Nothing worked. This was the case for both of the new drives. And right now they are completely useless on the iOS device version 16.1.1 for whatever reason. If I had to guess I’d say an update is needed somewhere to fix this. As of today, these drives are only good as basic flash drives on my PC or Mac and that’s it. They literally do not work with the latest version of iOS.

Not happy that it requires the app to work with iOS. Apple updated a long time ago to support external storage on a system level in iOS so you can plug in any external storage with a lightning connector and it’s instantly in the Files app that’s already on the phone by default. The app is free, it offers things the standard files app doesn’t have like free offline backups without the need for a computer or paid iCloud upgrades, there’s built in security features even on top of standard iOS security, but to REQUIRE the app to use it? No. I doubt android is locked out from using it without the app but I can’t confirm.Im not happy with this but im not returning it since it was on sale for a price I couldn’t refuse, and as of now it’s the only flash drive I can find ... MoreNot happy that it requires the app to work with iOS. Selling drives online 3rd party sites is the easiest fraud for scammers. They can modify the tiniest thing to force it to report higher storage than whats actually available. Sell you a 16gb Flash Drive but label it 256gb and when you plug it in it even shows in your computer as 256gb.

Great for a hard back up
12 May 2023

It’s great I was able to back up at 36,000 of my photos and videos on this drive it took 8 hours make sure your phone is charged or you can charge it without the charging port. My concern is that if I delete the photos off my phone and back up the drive will it delete the photos I already saved? Borrowed my friends Macbook and was unable to transfer from drive to another external hard drive for extra back up due to my other drive plug requiring an adapter part that was too big. I’m a cautious person I ended up buying extra storage until I can down load everything else off the phone

I can easily transfer them onto the flash drive, unmount it from my phone and plug it into my laptop to put them on the backup drive. Even uploading to a cloud storage takes longer than this does. So easy to do and completely saves time! I really also like that it can be used with Apple and Android devices. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

Presently only half functionality on iOS updates?
22 November 2022

Me trying to explain to support the current problem. Sharing here so that others understand their drives, at present, are only half functional than they should be due to an incompatibility with the software on iOS.Okay. I’m trying to be as clear as I can. I’m going to try and make this as simple to understand as possible because it really is very simple. There is nothing wrong with the DRIVE(s) as in plural. As in TWO brand new drives a Luxe version and a GO version. Brand new. Okay? Got it. Alright. Now. The drives are FINE. Alright? Both flash drives work fine on PC and Mac operating systems as basic flash drives. Just as my old iXpand drive did I bought years ago. Both flash drives work fine on PC and Mac operating systems as basic flash drives. Just as my old iXpand drive did I bought years ago. The problem is, while I can move files from the iPhone to the drives, I can not move files from the drive TO THE IPHONE. Okay? Does that make sense yet? In other words it’s half the functionality of my old drive… for whatever reason. MY GUESS is the drives or iXpand software on iPhone need an update to bring that full functionality back so that files can once again be moved both ways. Both to the iPhone and from the iPhone to the drive. Does this make sense? Example, I’m able to copy about 5 Gigabytes of photos to the drive easily and successfully. The PROBLEM lies in the ability of the drive to be able to copy files FROM the drive to the iPhone. Something that the iXpand drives used to be able to do easily and a function that is built into the software which proves this ability should be there. Why doesn’t it work? Easy. I suspect the drives and/or software for iXpand NEED an update to work with the latest iPhone iOS completely as it should. As of now, only being able to copy files to the drive and nothing else is half the functionality it should have. It’s that simple. I don’t know how to make this any clearer. The drives are fine, they need to be updated to restore full functionality and compatibility with the latest iPhones. It’s that simple.

San Disk USB 256gb
22 February 2023

Compact & sturdy product that seems like it will last if it were tossed around or dropped. I like that it will fit iPhone or android. However, every time I try to load pics from iphone11, I get an error message about 1/4 of the way into pics & it stops loading. Have tried 3 different times to load & still same error message. Granted I have 1000’s of pics but I purchased the 256gb drive thinking it would be perfect for the amount of pics. Will have to call support or Geek squad for help. If I remember, I’ll update once problem resolved.

Works with Apple Lightning iPhones and iPads
13 September 2022

I bought this to replace a 2-year-old version of the SanDisk 128GB iPhone Lightning to USB Type-A thumb drive that started to fail at backing up files on my iPhone because the device wouldn't be recognized by the SanDisk App.This new version is about as fast as the 2-year-old version, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The slow write speed doesn't matter because the Lightning port is only USB 2.0 (480 mbps, or 60 MBs), but the read speed via USB-C should be faster especially when the old USB-A version was just as fast as this one.In addition, I have another SanDisk 256GB USB-A / USB-C thumb drive that I bought at the same time at Best Buy for less than 1/2 the price and it reads/writes twice as fast as this.Buyers, beware this thumbdrive is ... MoreI bought this to replace a 2-year-old version of the SanDisk 128GB iPhone Lightning to USB Type-A thumb drive that started to fail at backing up files on my iPhone because the device wouldn't be recognized by the SanDisk App.This new version is about as fast as the 2-year-old version, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Plug it into these devices and it will automatically launch SanDisk's iXpand Drive app to initiate a backup of your device. If you plug this into an iPad that uses USB-C, then the iPad will recognize it as an ordinary thumb drive and will not open SanDisk's app for backup. You can still copy/paste files to and from the thumb drive, just not automatically backup anything.

You SAY it works w/ Android BUT...
31 March 2023

So so I can get it to work somewhat all right with my iPhone. It could work better but at least it does somewhat work with the iPhone, but my Google Pixel Android phone? NOPE! Give several reasons why and one of them is talking about formatting it to FAT32 whatever that is. Doesn't really tell you how and neither does a website as far as I can tell. The whole reason I got this was so it would work with my Android phone my iPhone and my MacBook and interchangeably but no and it was quite expensive so kinda po-ed

Best alternative for storage than paying iCloud Premium Storage subscription! My hobbies include digital art on Procreate, so my excess downloads are; brushes, colour palates and fonts not to mention the saved digital artwork. Overtime this will take up a lot of storage space either on the device and/or iCloud and if you're like me refuse to consider paying Apple's ridiculous storage subscription. This is where the iXpand flash drive comes in handy dandy, to extract all the download files and digital artwork files off my iPad/iCloud and keep everything on the flash drive also keeping internal HDD clutter free. Simple to use.
