If not do download the iXpand Drive app from either Appstore or google store. Once the app is downloaded it quickly asks you to backup all your pictures, videos, music and files and the transfer rate is fast. It took around 20 minutes to back up more than 2000 pictures and videos from iPhone 12 pro max. Once backup is done, it gives you an option to delete all the pictures from phone to create more storage space or you can select not to delete. If you do not want to store your pictures on iCloud or connect your phone to your laptop/mac then this is a great alternative. This also lets you to view your pictures/videos on mac or computer using the USB C. Password protection of files is also an option that makes the files more secure.Overall, really like the design, small formfactor and the convenience of having lighting adapter and USB- C to transfer pictures from iOS to android to windows with minimal setup. You should purchase this flash drive if you need more storage for your phone or for quick backup and is relatively inexpensive to free some space on your mobile devices or to transfer across multiple devices.

Both are BRAND NEWBrand New, iPhone 14 Pro• Operating system version. iOS 16.1.1Neither drive works with the current iOS/iPhonesIt is recognized ONLY by the iXpand software but is unable to be accessed/recognized by the rest of iOS or any of the compatible apps that are supposed to be compatible and used to be able to access these drives as an external storage while plugged in. (This worked great when it was operational like this) in the past, iXpand drives could copy files back and forth using either the iXpand software or the Apps on the phone such as media players and iOS’ Files app as well. None of these are possible currently. And, iXpand can’t seem to copy any files. It goes through the motions taking a long time as it used to, but it never actually copies any of the files. Again, BOTH BRAND NEW drives do this on a brand new iPhone ! Probably due to the inaccessibility of the drive by the current operating system? Also on many occasions of trying, the drive just stopped even being recognized altogether by iOS and kept prompting to insert iXpand drive even though it was already inserted. I tried changing operating system and software settings. Nothing worked. This was the case for both of the new drives. And right now they are completely useless on the iOS device version 16.1.1 for whatever reason. If I had to guess I’d say an update is needed somewhere to fix this. As of today, these drives are only good as basic flash drives on my PC or Mac and that’s it. They literally do not work with the latest version of iOS.

The SanDisk iXpand 128GB flash drive plus is a great addition to my iPhone 12 Pro. I create DIY fix videos around the house and edit them completely in my iPhone. Having this flash drive to hand is great for easily storing either those finished videos for archiving, or to take the b-roll footage off of my iPhone and free up space. The drive itself is really easy to use, it has a sturdy aluminum case, with some weight to it, and a convenient swivel action to reveal either an Apple Lightening connector, or a USB-C connector. It does have a small cover for the exposed connector, so make sure you keep track of that, it is not tethered and could potentially go missing. There is also a loop built into the back side of the drive to attach it to a keychain, so that it's with you, always ready for use.Simply plug the lightening connector into your iPhone and you will be promoted that the app required to use this device is NOT installed and you need to download the iXpand Drive App from the App Store. Once installed, the user interface is really simple and clean, easy to use and makes great sense. There are some audio/music files, and some pictures already on the iXpand Drive, which I chose to delete right away, as they are simply taking up space. The drive plugged straight into my iPhone, WITH a silicone case on, great that I didn't have to remove that first.Looking through the app, once you have transferred files from your phone to the drive, you are able to preview your photos and play your videos, so you are in complete control of your files on the drive. You have the option to set up automatic back ups, I chose not to do this, as I have a 256GB iPhone, the main use for this drive for me, is to have a nice, clean version of the videos I create, as a back up. You have the ability to password protect and create secure folders on the drive if you so choose.Flip the drive around 180º to expose the USB-C connector and you're set to plug the drive directly into your computer. It comes preloaded with the required software for both Mac and Windows machines to make the transfer of files seamless. Again, easy to use and intuitive, a nice transfer solution. I haven't had any issues with the drive at all since I started using it.Overall, I am very happy with this easy-to-use, versatile, robust and convenient 128GB SanDisk iXpand Drive.

I’d give 5 solid stars based on the build quality of the hardware. This thumb drive has some weight to it and doesn’t feel cheap in the least. Unfortunately, the associated (required, as far as I can tell) app is rather clunky and could really use some improvement. My main complaint is in the encryption and decryption of the files and the fact that you cannot (seemingly) go directly from your iOS device to the encrypted folder with files and vice versa. You have to first copy them to the non-protected part of the drive and then select them (or the folder they’re in) and choose to protect them. Moving a protected file onto your device is the same thing… you can’t move it directly, you have to first decrypt it into a folder on the drive itself, then you can copy the ... Moving a protected file onto your device is the same thing… you can’t move it directly, you have to first decrypt it into a folder on the drive itself, then you can copy the file to your device. It’s an extra step that adds extra time and makes it nearly impossible to keep your files in their original sub folder structure within the encrypted portion of the drive. Still, it does give you a way to back files up from your iOS device directly without having to use any hardware adapters and it does have a very quality feel to it.
This is sturdy for sure, but it gets overwhelmed with uploading things. It has stop uploading things now, and it won’t tell you it can’t until you’ve chosen what you want, highlighted it in the app and then started the process. I don’t know what got saved on it and what has not, because it craps out halfway through, which makes me feel I wasted time trying. I bought a real external hard drive. This was a bandaid fix anyway. For small jobs, it will do. The ease of having lightning to usbc is awesome. My need was more than this can handle, but it got me past the point of stuck-I was 7nable o take photos on my iPhone. It allowed me to create room without losing pictures.
As someone who is always making content & has their storage full, this is an absolute life saver! It is so straight forward to use/setup. It's pretty much just, download the app and plug it in your phone. It is super quick! Can transfer about 200 small files in 2 minutes (larger files may take longer). I absolutely love that you can also transfer the videos & pictures into a folder!! You can make folders on the app once you click all the photos and organise it perfectlyI wish they made a 1TB, but i will just have to transfer onto this flash drive then transfer it through to my harddrive on the computerAlso i love how it gives the option to delete the items after it has been transferred. I say it all the time about Sandisk flash drives, some are better than others but this is a very nice one to have. A little more pricey than some but well worth it when transferring data from an apple device that still has a lighting connector to a PC or even a new iphone 15 or newer Ipad. They come in handy a lot for me and would absolutely recommend to others. These make life a little easier when dealing with the technology part of your life. Best thing to do in my opinion is format them before using. Get rid of Sandisks built in bloatware and security features. The security features may be nice if you're storing confidential information but come on, who needs that nonsense for what normal people use these for.
Me trying to explain to support the current problem. Sharing here so that others understand their drives, at present, are only half functional than they should be due to an incompatibility with the software on iOS.Okay. I’m trying to be as clear as I can. I’m going to try and make this as simple to understand as possible because it really is very simple. There is nothing wrong with the DRIVE(s) as in plural. As in TWO brand new drives a Luxe version and a GO version. Brand new. Okay? Got it. Alright. Now. The drives are FINE. Alright? Both flash drives work fine on PC and Mac operating systems as basic flash drives. Just as my old iXpand drive did I bought years ago. Both flash drives work fine on PC and Mac operating systems as basic flash drives. Just as my old iXpand drive did I bought years ago. The problem is, while I can move files from the iPhone to the drives, I can not move files from the drive TO THE IPHONE. Okay? Does that make sense yet? In other words it’s half the functionality of my old drive… for whatever reason. MY GUESS is the drives or iXpand software on iPhone need an update to bring that full functionality back so that files can once again be moved both ways. Both to the iPhone and from the iPhone to the drive. Does this make sense? Example, I’m able to copy about 5 Gigabytes of photos to the drive easily and successfully. The PROBLEM lies in the ability of the drive to be able to copy files FROM the drive to the iPhone. Something that the iXpand drives used to be able to do easily and a function that is built into the software which proves this ability should be there. Why doesn’t it work? Easy. I suspect the drives and/or software for iXpand NEED an update to work with the latest iPhone iOS completely as it should. As of now, only being able to copy files to the drive and nothing else is half the functionality it should have. It’s that simple. I don’t know how to make this any clearer. The drives are fine, they need to be updated to restore full functionality and compatibility with the latest iPhones. It’s that simple.
This device DOES NOT work with Type-C devices advertised. I tried two android phones before and after contacting Customer Support to find the App listed in the instructions to use the advertised features. The App for Type-C devices is nonexistent. Instructions given by the Customer Support Specialist to use the product features as advertised didn't work.SanDisk had traditionally been my go-to brand for reliable high quality external storage for decades, and I assumed this product was no different. Unfortunately, I was wrong and bought 2 Luxes. It's too late to return for a refund. Why put Type-C on the unit that doesn't work? A true waste of my money and time.
The SanDisk - 128GB iXpand Flash Drive for Lightning & USB-C Devices is certainly versatile for physically transferring and backing up content from any device with a USB-C or Lightning port devices like an iPhone, iPad, and capable android devices. Mobile apps (it appears they required) are available in your favorite App store. Windows software is already on the flash drive if you wish to install it on your Windows PC, I found it unnecessary on my PC as I did not plan on using the encryption capabilities. However if you take exhilarating media with your mobile device, using encryption might make sense if the flash drive becomes lost. The iOS app was a bit sluggish on my iphone 12 Pro, seemed it wanted to index or thumbnail my photos/videos after I had backed up/copied them to the flash device. In any case the iXpand Flash Drive is a super convenient way to download and transfer content between devices. As for the speed of this device, 81.5mbps using the USB-C interface, to copy to a large movie file to an SSD equipped laptop is speedy. What I found pretty impressive was playing back content on the flash drive directly connected via USB-C or the Lightning port. Using VLC Player for Android provided flawless playback, without any dropped frames or stutters in video taken at high bit rate using the FiLMiC Pro app on my iPhone 12 Pro. The drive delivers impressive throughput for both copying and being used as a playback source. Overall, this is a super handy device and a must for anyone who uses their iPhone or other mobile device to create content.Pros:- Interesting physical design, with a Lightning and USB-C interface- Fast throughput, I noted 81mbps when attached to my SSD drive equipped laptop- Provides a non-cloud, no connectivity dependent way to get content off your deviceCons:- Although well built, was always paranoid I was going to snap off either tip when the flash drive was connected to a device- Mobile device app experience could be improved.- physically connecting may be a problem with some device case types
