There's no reason that the "thin" iMac/Pro couldn't have had SOME ports on the front - but the designers were afraid of running the symmetry and cleanliness of the product. Satechi's Hub Pro is as near perfect as they could make it. And the attachment method is genius.

This is by far the cleanest and coolest USB hub I’ve seen. Easy to install and move around, it brings forward all the ports you might need on a daily basis. Perfect fit, flush with the front of your iMac.I haven’t seen any problems with the cooling vents or speakers that might be blocked by it.Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, this device doesn’t meet my needs. The power delivery through the USB-C port is slow. The USB-A ports do not allow me to charge devices such as my Bose Bluetooth speaker or my iPad Mini. I wanted this device so the ports would face me so I wouldn’t have to go around to the back of my iMac to reach those ports. The USB-A ports on the back of my iMac allow me to charge devices and the USB-C ports on my iMac allow much faster charging than the SATECHI hub. Looks like I’ll continue using the ports on the back of my iMac.

It would get 5 Stars if it's limitations would be either clearly stated or, much better would be corrected.Limitations:The USB-C socket is not a real USB-C, attaching my iPad 12.9 (3. gen) nothing happens, no charging, no data transmission. to me it is of no use.Too bad, the design is almost perfect.
This device is as well made as it gets and works as advertised. Ports are sturdy and tight and can power small devices like USB Microphones and Thumb Drives. Only issue has been the used of the Micro SD slot. But having ports front facing along with an SD card reader is well with the fifty bucks!!! On a glance it looks like an original part of the machine!!!
Most ports are ineffective or run at slow speeds. great to have the sockets in front, Sad that they don't support more than one device at a time, powered devices or high speed devices. Also sad that the type C socket doesn't support anything except my davinci resolve key dongle. I've given it away as it does not in any way benefit workflow.
Brilliant! The Hub was easy to install, well made and fits the Imac perfectly. Great quality product which makes using USB items and memory cards on the Imac so much more convenient.
The device is a great piece of design and complements the iMac very well. My gripe is that the USB-C outlet port is only USB3 and that this isn't clearly stated in the technical specifications - so it is SLOW is you are looking to attach SSD via the Type C port. Nor is there any mention that the charging output into the Type A ports is only 0.5 amps.The net of it is that with a 2017 iMac you start off with a T3 port and if you attach this device, you end up with a number of USB3 ports and no T3. Given the price, that is a trade-off that you will need to think about. Ideally you would take a T3 input and get a T3 daisy-chained output, or at least a USB 3.1 output via the Type C...
I love my iMac Pro, but it's in a location making rear port access not convenient. Enter the Clump Hub Pro. It quickly attached to the bottom of the iMac Pro providing convenient access to card readers, and USB A and C connectors. I was surprised at how sturdy it attaches - there's no wiggle at all. I'm impressed and using it daily. Go grab one for yourself!
I was very excited that this item actually came before my macbook did---and I actually think now that I may have been better off with something that fits flush rather than with a cord. But because is came so quickly, transferring from a backup from my old computer to my new one was seamless.My only concern is that the unit feels warm, even when nothing is plugged in. I do hope it's not a sign that it won't last long----but it's been fine in every other way, including matching the color perfectly.
