I bought two Satechi hubs, slightly cheaper one for myself and this model for work. The work one is still chugging along after eight months. The personal one? the HDMI never worked and then the rest of it died. Here's where PB Tech stepped up, took it back, gave me store credit and I promptly turned around and bought one of these instead. So thank you PB Tech, both of these hubs are still going strong. It gets hot after some time but this doesn't seem to affect it's performance. Works perfectly for both my Windows PC and Macbook.

Very pleased with purchase overall. I bought this to be able to provide multiple USB connections to my iPad while being able to charge the device at the same time. Hub does this without issue, aside from sometimes getting quite warm during operation (exacerbated slightly by the metal casing). Build quality appears flawless and doesn’t have that cheap, toy-like feeling in the hand. Space grey metal casing is also a good visual match with my space grey M1 iPad Pro. Would purchase this product or other items from this brand again.

I bought this device because I need ethernet along with USB3 ports on my Macbooks. However, it has really bad connection stability. Adapter randomly mark ethernet connection as disconnected, and refuse to reconnect until whole adapter re-connected. Same problem happens for both intel and m2 macbooks.USB3 is working fine. Card reader and HDMI I haven't tried.

I bought two HDMA adapters: this Satechi one and another simpler one. After a year, this Satechi adapter makes my video flicker on my 4K monitor. I have swapped monitors, HDMI cables and adapters, so I know that this is the faulty component. The problem seems to be in the cable that connects the adapter to my MacBook Pro. I can move it to different positions to stop the flickering, sometimes. But sometimes the monitor goes dark altogether.
My unit exhibits a problem where the ethernet frequently disconnects and reconnects, about once very 5 minutes. When it reconnects it doesn't always work for all traffic. This renders the unit useless. This is using it on a recent model Dell XPS running Windows 10. Satechi has specific trouble shooting regarding this problem suggesting it's frequent. None of that worked for me and I am returning the unit, on the advice of Satechi technical support. They also advised "lease note: While our hubs/adapters will work with most windows devices, they were programmed to work best with Apple devices and overall functionality/performance may be limited." which is surprising considering there is nothing in the description to indicate PC compatibility issues.
1-star. It worked for a year. Then is started causing my MacBook Pro to give the error about USB accessories drawing too much power, which is ridiculous as the only things I had plugged in were a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard, a couple of self-powered hard drives, and a self-powered external monitor. Now this device is completely dead, and I can't even troubleshoot it! I bought two of these, and this happened to both!
Got this for a MS Surface Tablet. It dos the job OK but the power output from the Surface is so average that we had to play with what connections to optimise output to a 55" 4K screen and an eternal Poly webcam-speaker. There's not enough power in the Surface to run the 2 without a permanent power connection. We now run the HDMI via the Satechi Hub with a Logitech pointer in the USB-A port and the USC-B from the Surface to the 55"4K screen. It works fine with a 16" MacBook Pro as this has got a better power output and can even run to our external devices off a battery power supply.Just make sure you check the actual power requires before expecting this device to perform with all ports connected. It just won't be able to do it with some hardware.
This is my second product from Satechi. Over a year and half ago I purchased the first generation Type-C Multi-Port Adapter to pair with my space grey MacBook Pro. It was the only USB-C adapter available that had all of the ports I needed while complimenting the design and quality of an Apple product. Unfortunately, the HDMI port stopped working after the warranty period had long since expired. I emailed Satechi hoping they might give me discount code to purchase a new one and instead they offered to replace it! I only had to cover the cost of shipping the defective unit to them and within a week I received the newer second generation version as a replacement! I’m still keeping this as it works OK. What i don’t like about this is that my Mac Book Pro won’t go to sleep if I’ve a devices plugged into the HDMI. It doesn’t matter if the big screen TV is off, I have to unplug the HDMI cable for my laptop to go to sleep. The second problem is the the USB power frequently stops charging my laptop. MacOS will mention that it’s no longer charging but on battery standby. The problem is that sometimes I go to open my laptop and the power is drained.I’ve kept it because it’s a lot of effort to find a better setup. Although I had wanted to have a single cable to plug in, I can’t because I need to plug a speedster USBC for power.I’ve heard from a friend that the way to go is pick something up at the Apple Store as it’ll work the ... MoreI’m still keeping this as it works OK. I've been using one of these with my MacBook Pro for about six months now. It works great, even if it gets a little over-warm. But I've had a problem with it for all that time: the ethernet cable at my desk kept popping out of the adaptor. The cable wouldn't click in and lock into place like ethernet cables always do. It would stay in, until someone bumped my desk or anything moved around, in which case the cable would slide out a couple of millimetres -- enough to break the connection.I thought it was a busted clip on the cable. But by the time I got around to requesting a new one from IT, I discovered the new cable didn't click in either. Curious, I tried the same two cables on my colleague's Satechi adapter, and found that neither cable clicked in ... MoreI've been using one of these with my MacBook Pro for about six months now. Curious, I tried the same two cables on my colleague's Satechi adapter, and found that neither cable clicked in there.TL;DR: It seems the ethernet ports on these adapters do not allow ethernet cables to lock into place, so they dislodge very easily.
