Thatās a positive.I thought I liked the extra cushioning at first but after a couple of intense wears, my knee hurts and my legs ache. Perhaps if youāre standing all day on hard floors the cushioning of the 22 makes sense?In comparison, the 18, the 20, and the RFG did not/have not caused any issues with knee, hip, or legs.If youāre looking for more width and volume and cushioning when compared to previous Triumphs, then the 22 might work for you. They donāt for me. I wish I could return them but Iāve put some miles on them. Also, because the fabric stains insanely fast (seriously, the light blue was stained after first and second wear and I usually buy lighter colored Triumphs), I have had to wash them twice after less than a month of use.

Having worn a few different Saucony shoes over the years I was super pumped about the new Triumph 22. I needed a new long run shoe and the timing of the release couldn't have been timed better. Having a wide toe box is a pretty limiting factor when looking at running shoes. The models are few and the color options even fewer. So finding the Blue/Gray combo, which was my personal favorite, in the wide size was a huge plus. Having worn a couple pairs of Kinvaras and a pair of Tempus I was familiar with the fit and size I needed. The problem is I can't find the right fit in these. Seriously, I know I just complained about foot pain, but these are really comfortable to walk around in and go about your business. The padding around the ankle is probably the best I have seen and the shoe in general is soft. The foam!!! OMG This new foam is amazing. I am really disappointed I don't love these, because this is springy, and soft, and forgiving. The Pull tab on the heel of the shoe. Thank you Saucony for the pull. This is so helpful and increasingly rare.THE BAD: Fit. Not the fit I expected from a wide shoe. Generally narrow still, and not conducive to my feet. The shoe may be a little stiff for some.

Same effort for tempos rarely yields anything under an 8 min pace. I have been using the Triumphs for the past few years and have absolutely loved them. They have been the perfect combination of springy cushioning and responsiveness. However, with the latest iteration of the Triumph, I have noticed the cushion is soft, but sacrifices way too much responsiveness. With the Triumph 20 and 21, I felt perfectly content with that as my only shoe in the stable. But with the 22's I feel like when I do anything more than long run speed, I am losing all of my energy into the spongy sole. I am really disappointed in the latest version. It is a great cushion shoe for long runs, but not really for anything else. Bummed about my purchase. I will probably not buy them again.

The Triumph 22 is cushier (or perhaps mushier), more stable (not that 21 was unstable by any means), and just feeling slower. What breaks the deal for me with the Triumph 22, and it is a puzzler, is how hot the upper is. My feet are literally cooking in those shoes. I ran an 8-miler in the Triumph 22 recently, and not only were my feet hot, they were soaking in sweat so much so, that after removing the insoles of the shoes at home, there were beads of sweat grouping on the inside of the shoes and the removed insoles were completely soaked. Triumph 21 was considerably cooler. I feel that with Triumph 22, I will need to dry and air them out after each run, a very first on any running shoes that I currently own! Some disconnect has happened at Saucony in the development of Triumph 22. A great and uniquely capable shoe, the Triumph 21, was replaced with something that just does not work well. This of course opens a market hole for competitors to quickly explore. The zeitgeist: What I feel Saucony should have done was to take Triumph 21 and widen its base, even retaining the PWRRUN+ foam, although I see how the PWRRUN PB foam assists stabilizing the base for sloppy gait, but otherwise keeping the shoe the same. The pillowy feel of the shoe that has been implemented in the Triumph 22 is not necessary! And Ride 17 is not the proper substitute for Triumph 21, since Ride is actually a different-feeling shoe. Please redesign the Triumph soon and bring back the spirit of the Triumph 21.
I have been fitted for a 10.5 in my running shoes and was recently recommended these at my local running store. I loved them in store but bought through Saucony because there was a sale and wanted them in a different color. I was fully aware that I wouldnāt be able to return them after taking them for a run but felt fine since I had previously tried in store and test ran in them. When they came they fit bigger than they did in store despite the same 10.5 and were so wide my feet were swimming. Tried with the heel lock and seemed ok I took them out for a little easy 5k and have lost about 3 toe nails now just from that one run and had major foot pain; these absolutely wrecked my feet. I bought this when it first released. I am a long time Saucony fan and was disappointed after putting 50 miles on it. For background, I enjoyed the triumph 21/20 and endorphin speed 4. I am a collegiate runner and loved the triumph line apart from instability which is why I wanted this newer version. This version fixes stability (width-wise) and has a better upper. Overall good job on comfort and easy lockdowns. However thereās a caveat with the foam. This shoe is so difficult to run in. I am a long time Saucony fan and was disappointed after putting 50 miles on it. For background, I enjoyed the triumph 21/20 and endorphin speed 4. I am a collegiate runner and loved the triumph line apart from instability which is why I wanted this newer version. This version fixes stability (width-wise) and has a better upper. Overall good job on comfort and easy lockdowns. However thereās a caveat with the foam. This shoe is so difficult to run in. I do like PowerPb in other shoes and Iām okay with it be tailored to training in this shoe so I had lower expectations. The issue is that itās too soft with a rubbery landing with little energy return and instability. It feels like this will appeal to walkers and not runners. Iām a serious runner and this didnāt work. I really gave this shoe a try and 15 runs and every time I felt beat up which is the opposite of what I want from a āmax cushionā ārecoveryā shoe.
