I used to get horrible razor burn, but since I switched to this razor with five blades, I haven’t had any issues. My skin is always smooth and fully shaved. I find that the blades for Schick Hydro are also sharper and I have less issues with cutting my skin from duller blades from similar companies.

I do not like the design of the handle, I felt it was a little heavier and had less grip control at the top of the handle when it came time to shave. At least compared to my usual brand. The hydrating gel reservoir was a little sticky when I got it wet but it did help provide some moisture (on top of my shaving cream) to help the razor work through my beard. I do like the flip back top which helps me get to the slightly trickier spots. It does provide a pretty close shave, without irritating my skin or nicking it. However, I'm not sure how I feel about the razor head pivoting around so much. Which I understand helps when I'm moving the razor from one section to another section of my face, so that is more of a personal preference. This is the first time I've tried a Schick razor or the Hydro Skin Comfort cartridges. I have been using another brand with seven blades for years until their quality dropped off. I have a coarse beard and I love the comfort and closeness of the shaves these cartridges give, however, the gel pools on the cartridge tend to get stringy and comes off after a few shaves. The cartridges continue to give a close shave for well over a week before I have to change them. The razor handle is made in China and I've had a cartridge come off the handle three times in a weeks time so I think the handle design could be improved.

I've been buying blades for my Schick Hydro 5 razor for a while now, so, I can tell the difference between the real deal and a cheap version of a product. These blades, unfortunately, seem to be the second option. After the second shave, they start feeling a little rough, whereas the ones I usually get, they tend to really last me for almost month (I don't shave daily, but I would say I tend to do it every other day). The gel doesn't last for more than a week, but the blades usually remain sharp after it's gone. In the case of these latest blades I bought, the gel it's still there, but they're started to loose it's edge too soon. I usually buy in bundles and have no problem whatsoever with the product. I needed more razors so instead of buying them in a store again I decided to look online and found these sold in groups of 40. It is the best price per razor I could find both online and stores. My facial hair isn't very thick so I only have to shave every 2 to 3 days and change the razor every two months. This lot of 40 will last me about 6.5 years! If you're someone that needs to shave every day or even twice a day this still a screamin' deal cause you can't beat the price per razor. The only thing I don't like about the hydro 5 is the fold up thing at the end with the white dots, they come in blue and the sensative razors are green. I the razors were perfect before they started adding that flip up bar thing. I the razors were perfect before they started adding that flip up bar thing. When I shave I do 2 maybe 3 passes per area to get all the stubble. Having that bar with dots on end removes the remaining moisture of the shaving gel from my face and when I make a 2nd or 3 pass my skin is dry and more sensative to the razor and will leave red rashy looking patches. I put the razor on the handle and pull the green thing back until it pops out of the hinge points and throw it away. It doesn't break though because it is made of a flexible plastic. That's just one man's opinion, maybe other guys like it.
I'm 60 years old. When I was in college WAY back in the 1970's Gillette gave us free "college kits" which included a Trak 2 razor, shaving cream and some other goodies. Since then it seems Gillette has always sent me a free razor when they've come out with a new one. And I've been a Gillette fan for all these years because I've been happy with their product. The only time I ever tried a Schick was when they sent me their first entry into the 4 blade market. I hated the razor and went back to the Gillette Mach 3 which I was using at the time. Through a site called BzzAgent I was able to try the new Schick Hydro 5 Sensitive Razor. This is definitely a keeper!! They sent me two blades and after about 8 shaves I'm still on the first blade! Through a site called BzzAgent I was able to try the new Schick Hydro 5 Sensitive Razor. This is definitely a keeper!! They sent me two blades and after about 8 shaves I'm still on the first blade! It's even better than the Gillette Pro Fusion Glide that I've been using. I usually can't shave two days in a row because my skin gets irritated and I don't get a close shave. This razor has five blades and there is what they call a flip up trimmer which gives access for all blades to tight spots...like right under the nose. I did find it awkward to figure out how to open it, though. I think that design could use a little work. Both the Gillette and Schick have strips which are supposed to help make the shave smoother and cause less pull. The Schick calls theirs a "Hydrating Gel Reservoir" which has aloe and Vitamin E. I'm surprised it has lasted for 8 shaves. I can tell when these strips no longer work because the razor no longer glides as smoothly on the skin. So, after 8 shaves on the one blade I can report that there are no cuts, no nicks, no errors! The shaves are still smooth and still close. Gillette has some catching up to do!
I dont really care to review. I ordered DISPOSABLE and affordable,to me, razors and it was mot replaced another similar disposable razor but rather an expensive one with one blade. The blades alone will, next time I need, cost more than the razor I wanted and ordered. I think it is unfair to replace with a totally different product. I ordered disposable razors, which is more affordable for me. It is wrong to do that.
I have used this blade cartridge for years but I must try something else. It has become cheap in comparison to what it was. It doesn't hold an edge and the lubrication strip washes out quickly. It's simply mfg too cheaply compared to what it was.
I've been shaving with electric shavers for as long as I can remember. Recently I wanted to try a blade razor. I looked at reviews and picked the Schick Hydro. First i'm trying the disposables and next I will try the non disposable razor with disposable blades that the disposables don't have.I also like the "Trimmer" ability. Simple and it really works. Much better than my shaver's trimmer. I don't have a lot of experience but I can tell you they give me a cleaner closer shave. I have not mastered the tricky spots and so sometimes I use my electric to do some "Edging" . As I become more proficient that should change. I was getting lots of skin irritation and ingrown beard hairs with my electric shavers. Now, not at all actually. Env: development I got this razor five days ago; I wanted to compare it to my Gillette Fusion Proglide, as both have five blades. The Fusion is a very good razor and I like its features, but my skin is somewhat sensitive, and the Fusion sometimes gave me razor burn when I tried for a really close shave (while my skin is sensitive, my beard grows quickly, giving me 5 o'clock shadow around noon). The Hydro5 Sensitive has outdone the Fusion in just four days of shaving. Not only is the shave smoother, but it is closer; no more 5PM-at-3PM shadow. And I don't worry about razor burn (more on that in a minute). I've been a Gillette user since I started shaving back in the '60's. This just might make me change. My two caveats: first, my Gillette has a single trimmer blade on top of the cartridge; you flip the razor over to use it. Very simple. With the Hydro5, you flip back the gel reservoir and use all five blades. I'm not sure that I like trimming with five blades. Second, I did a little checking on amazon.com on the price of the replacement cartridges and found that the price difference between the regular and the sensitive cartridges is $1.20. The difference - the regular gel reservoir contains aloe, while the sensitive reservoir contains aloe and vitamin E. I'm not sure that vitamin E is worth the extra price. And the weird thing is that both cartridges will fit the handle. I will have to try a pack of the regular cartridges and then post an update. All in all, I am, so far, impressed. Env: development
