A tip for a good shave is to use a sugar scrub before shaving and then your razor. The sugar scrub helps raise the hairs. I learned this trick many years ago. I do this when I do a deep shaving routine. After I shave my legs and underarms, I go in with my Hydrosilk razor. My legs and underarms are smooth and soft afterwards. This razor is an essential razor in my shower routine. It’s my go to razor, after I I use my regular razor. My regular razor is a Venus or a Solei razor that I use to shave my legs and underarms, then I follow it up with my Schick razor. My legs and underarms are grateful for it. It gives a smooth and clean shave, and cleans everything up, in case I missed a few hairy spots.

I was hesitant to try this razor because of the high price point. But... this is worth every penny. I've always had a problem with strawberry legs and razor burn because my skin is dry and sensitive. So I finally caved and invested in a good quality razor and boy am I glad I did! I prepped my legs with the Tree Hut Moroccan Rose Shave Prep Scrub and EOS Shea Butter Dry Skin Shave Cream. I also recommend these products if you tend to get razor burn. After just one shave about 80% of my razor burn and KP was gone!

When my local city-sized (small) Target stopped selling the Schick Quattro razor that I loved, I bought what looked like the closest thing: the Schick Hydro. IT'S THE WORST AND MOST DANGEROUS RAZOR I'VE EVER USED. It is almost impossible to shave without cutting my skin, sometimes quite a lot. If there is any unevenness--any little tiny bumps at all--this razor makes me bleed. It also leaves me with horrendous razor burn. I’ve never experienced either of these things with any other razor. After the original blade, I tried two or three different refill blades, and I got the same effect with each one. The only reason I didn't give up and throw them all out sooner was because razors tend to be expensive, and I kept hoping that adjusting my shaving technique would help. ... MoreWhen my local city-sized (small) Target stopped selling the Schick Quattro razor that I loved, I bought what looked like the closest thing: the Schick Hydro. I've been shaving for 20 years, and I have never experienced the cuts or intense razor burn from this awful, terrible razor. It should absolutely not be sold; it is a weapon and will mar your body. I wrote to Schick to sincerely ask them to please, please consider discontinuing this product. I will post this review everywhere I can find that allows reviews on the product. People should know how dangerous it is.

I have used this razor for years, and it works very well. My only major complaint is that the neck of the shaver where the heads fit is transparent and mold collects over time. It doesn’t matter how I store it, it inevitably happens. Because it is transparent, it is noticeable and gross! I find myself buying a new one every few months even though it works fine otherwise. Now, I’ve decided to change brands. Please fix this issue.
I have been using Schick razors for more than 2 decades! You have done something new with these and they are garbage! I have been using this "silk" one both as the replaceable razors and the disposable ones (disposable are actually better than the expensive replaceable ones!) for more than a year. I have never been cut so often than when I shaved for the 1st time!!! And I used a daisy pink razor then!! I wish I could attach a picture of the latest massacre! (and that was on my upper thigh don't get me started on my underarms!!!) I will be changing brands all together because you have the worst product on the market right now! I do not know what happened but something changed and I do not like it! I will not even finish using the extra blades that I have!
WELL, I came to the web site today hoping to find an instructional video or at least instructions on how to attach a refill blade/cartrage for my Hydro Silk 5. Nothing!! Which was disappointing as I continue to have the same issue with this product over the past 3+ years. So as a last resort thought perhaps someone within the reviews would have experienced the same and shed some light with "a simple how to"...nada! However...I did come across two recent and very informational reviews (flygirl1523 · 8 months ago & Makaylah · a year ago + a couple of others) related to skin irritations, rashes and Eczema. BINGO!! I have sensitive skin, suffer from Eczema and have spent 2 years in and out of Doctors (Internist, Dermatology, Allergist) offices, not to mention many $$'s ... MoreWELL, I came to the web site today hoping to find an instructional video or at least instructions on how to attach a refill blade/cartrage for my Hydro Silk 5. I have sensitive skin, suffer from Eczema and have spent 2 years in and out of Doctors (Internist, Dermatology, Allergist) offices, not to mention many $$'s on cortisone shots, twice daily creams and prescription drugs trying to determine why I have reoccurring extreme episodes of painful burning rashes (my pictures would be worth a 1,000 words). I will be sharing all of this information with all three of my doctors and hopefully this just might shed some light on my miserable problem.
I had been using another Target brand razor for over a year but recently the design changed and I wasn’t getting a clean smooth shave that lasted. I used this one once and immediately felt better and such a clean smooth shave for the first time in months! However the blade detaches very easily, I went to put protective shield back on and the razor head snapped off twice. I’m going to continue to use and hope that the refill snaps in tighter.
I got this razor because I was using my boyfriend's for a while but it kept getting dull by the time I got to it. I still got a better shave from his dull razor than I got from this thing. I have never had so many cuts and burns on my underarms before using this razor, and it took several passes to get all of the hair that was left behind. When shaving my legs it leaves stubble that you can feel. The moisture strips create a film of goo that coats the entire razor and renders it useless until you rinse the blades and scrape the strip off, and the blades get clogged easily with hair. Mind you, my hair is fine and not thick at all. I also use shaving gel every time so the burns shouldn't have been so bad. Save yourself the discomfort and pain and do what I did, just get your own men's razor. The first shave with a new men's razor was a vast improvement--smooth shave, no cuts, no burns, and I'm never going back. Women's razors stink and this one is no exception.
They're not the best blade and the handle plus the wall attachment aren't worth a thing. I had it less then a couple weeks and had it attached to the wall, by the included attachment. It fell and the razor won't hold the brand new blades anymore. It was a waste of money. There are some design flaws and as long as they've been making them, there shouldn't be! Try another brand!
I have sensitive skin. I love the Schick Quattro. Since this razor is labeled "sensitive" I thought I'd try it. Even with lotion, my legs burned for a day and a half. Never had that issue with the Schick Quattro or Venus Smooth (as long as I use some lotion after). Was not expecting that at all; wish I could return it. Also, I had read that the Hydro doesn't have the wires over the blades like the Quattro to prevent nicks. I figured I'd be fine without them, but I nicked myself 3 times. I haven't done that since I was a teenager.
