The wires that have to be fitted into the case are easy to squash somewhere in tightening the assembly up, which ought to be fixed with some kind of sturdier fixed cable. Would look for a different keyless entry item next time. $145 for four operational years is too much... it ought to work longer and battery ought to be easier to change with those fiddly wires.

Purchased the Camelot encode lock a few months ago. The features and ability to customize lock settings (rekey, add codes, set auto lock feature) have been excellent and the app is straightforward to use. Setup and installation were generally quick, though minor adjustments to my door were needed as the two deadbolt slide plates included in the package did not fit the cutout on the door frame I purchased. Lock functioned very well for months until a really bad rainstorm was able to get moisture up onto the porch and into the lock keypad. Keypad malfunctioned shortly thereafter and needed to be replaced. Online methods for fixing error included many customers who report the same issue with moisture getting into the keypad and essentially short circuiting it. Schlage should consider adding reasonable moisture barrier to add to keypad to prevent issue. It could be as simple and cheap as a compression gasket in the install kit or some silicone sealant the installer can use while installing that will help keep moisture out of the apparently very sensitive electronics.Otherwise an excellent, beautiful lock for my new door, with just the right amount of features, customizeability, and for a good price that makes this lock easy to recommend.

I bought the Encode Plus wireless keypad lock and apparently there is a glitch in the new ones that fried the electrical after a very short time. Like days or less. I called Schlage cs and they told me to exchange it at Home Depot where I bought it. I did, installed again, same problem. Called again and finally cs told me the issue and sent me a new one directly from Schlage. Installing it now so hopefully 3rd time is the charm. Many days in between of having to use a key, while waiting. Frustrated that the stores don't know they're selling defective products and that cs steered me wrong the first time. Also I've spend a lot of money making backup key copies for my family, 2x thinking I had a working lock. Now I have to make keys again. 6 yrs ago bought 3 of these. Stood up well considering the corrosive air 1 mile from the ocean. Just replaced 1 because it stopped engaging the latch when unlocked. 2 features to be aware of -1) thumb turn on the inside can be set so it doesn’t lock. This is bad for my application , so I snipped the wires to the thumb turn switch, and put the battery in the outside battery compartment. The instructions in the box had no guidance on this.2). If you use the thumb turn & inside batteryCompartment, it’s difficult to keep the wires & connector from jamming under the cover. Pay special attention to step 8, and the blow up showing how the connector fits under the tab.Schlage makes durable products that stand up to lots of use

This is the second time I've replaced a front door lock set. The last time was about 10 years ago; i.e., I'm not a handy man. While I accomplished the task, the directions were essentially useless. First, the directions are for several different versions based on what i assume is a model number (F60, F62, F63, F93). Which is fine. Excecpt there is no way to tell which model number you have. Nothing on the box nor any labels on the parts. Next, directions such as "measure the bolt as shown in the picture" is almost laughable. Why am I measuring it. What if the measurement is longer or shorter. Third, while some pictures were somewhat helpful most provided no real value add. I bought this a few weeks ago and it has worked really well. Pros: Install and setup was very straightforward. The quality of the lock is very high. The software from Schlage as well as the Apple integration works great. Phone/watch functionality works well. The auto lock function and lock status is something I didn’t have with my previous Schlage and it functions very well. Ability to add and remove codes is so simple and effective. Cons: Price is high for a door lock, but I feel you get what you pay for. Folks are still learning that touching the pad triggers the first entry. Not very intuitive that you can hit the home button to light up the pad before code entry but once you learn that, it works well for those that aren’t too familiar with the number placement ... MoreI bought this a few weeks ago and it has worked really well. Battery life is something that I do not have enough time to get a full assessment but this is a very active door and I can see myself replacing the AA’s every few months. My previous Schlage used a 9volt and was not smart WiFi and lasted more than a year. Again, I knew that going in as the tech comes at a cost in more ways than one. In my opinion, the benefits far outweigh the cons and I would make the purchase again. My hope for this lock is that it will last a long time. My previous Schlage electronic deadbolt lasted only 2 or 3 years. I am giving the brand another chance to prove out their quality with more features. For a lock this expensive, I think that is a fair expectation.

[Rewarded Review] Schlage Keyless entry....
1 November 2024

Let me say this...my very first install was in a garage at a small apartment complex we built 20byears ago. I wanted to first test it for a year. The lock passed. I then proceeded to install it on the 6 entry doors of the apartment building, the front door of the existing house that was on site, and a door in the basement of the same home. Other than minor issues (typically the internal slide needed lubricating), they worked great and for me they were a huge time savers. My student tenants would lock themselves out and inevitably they would have to tear out a window screen to gain access. Or, they would leave the door open for a friend, and leave themselves vulnerable to intruders. And, of course, they had a boyfriend (or girlfriend) who they gave a key to, and now ... MoreLet me say this...my very first install was in a garage at a small apartment complex we built 20byears ago. And, of course, they had a boyfriend (or girlfriend) who they gave a key to, and now are no longer friends. With keyed entry locks, to change the old lock set with a new one was an all day affair. Buying a new lock, swapping lock sets, getting keys made, stamping the address number in the key (so that the management company knew of the key), distributing the keys, collecting the old keys. With the Schlage keyless entry system, I/they avoided all of the problems, and they saved me a huge amount of time when it came to changing the entry code. In 30 seconds, I could change the code, and send a text to the tenants letting them know of the change.I also installed the Schlage keyless entry system on a duplex I owned for 36 years. When we recently sold that building, and bought a nicer ranch style duplex (made in the same era of 1955), I installed their system just yesterday. They work great. I sent the new tenants, who are preparing to move here this month to "give me a 4 digit code for your new keyless entry". They will be very excited how easy it is.And here is one more reason that I chose Schlage...their keyless system (the one that I use) utilizes a 9v battery. All the others use 4 AA, which generally suck for longevity. In addition, the battery is housed on the inside of the door. Overall, it is a pretty smart design. If you learn how these locks work, again, they are easy to maintain. The only problem I ever had was the internal mechanism would get a little too dry, and not slide like it is supposed to. So, with the aid of a torx bit, you take the lock apart carefully, (there is a small spring inside you don't want to lose), and lub that slide. A light viscus grease works well. Not a heavy grease, and not oil. I used a bicycle grease. Worked great.Enjoy!

[Rewarded Review] Schlage lock. It worked as it should...
22 November 2024

...until year 3. The mechanism only works when it wants to. The outside lever handle won't turn the latch into the door in order to open the door. Now I have to order a new one because no one around here has this lock in brass. As a matter of fact they just discontinued the brass color lock and can only get it on Lowe's or Home Depot app. I didn't want to change out the hinges too, so I went with the brass and now have to wait. I had a different Schlage combo lock at my old house and never had a problem with it, except having to change the batteries out fairly often. The new lock battery was just changed at year 3 for the first time, just before the problem started. Haven't tried yet, but I hope the keys work since I have to wait. That's if I can find them lol.
