I now use this as my main interior sack instead of a pack liner. It's not only useful to stay organized, but it's so much better than using the noisy plastic pack liner, especially when you are packing up and getting out of camp quietly. It's much faster compared to struggling with a plastic pack liner too, as the ultra sil just slips right into my 55L backpack easily. The dry sack does exactly what it does, and I haven't had an issue with moisture leaking inside.

I've used various types of Sea to Summit dry bags (various thickness of material, regular dry bags vs eVent + eVent compression bags) for years, and have never had a problem. When gearing up for a recent backcountry kayaking trip, I decided to replace several of my dry bags with new ones; I've not had any issues with my older bags but they've seen heavy use so I figured it was time to retire them. I saw that the new Sea to Summit bags come with replaceable buckles, but didn't think much of it; I've never had to replace a buckle on my existing drybags. I'm not so sure now that the replaceable buckle is a good idea. Twice in the span of a 5 day trip a screw ended up coming loose, causing the buckle to fall off of the dry bag. Obviously this renders the dry bag ... Obviously this renders the dry bag useless, as it can't hold out water if it can't seal. This happened to 2 different drybags, so it didn't seem like I got just one dud. Thankfully both times the screws fell out in the tent and I was able to find them; had they fallen out on the beach I'd be out of luck. I was also thinking that, as the dry bags themselves don't come with a replacement buckle, having a replaceable buckle will only help you out if you've bought a spare and brought it along with you. So most people are likely replacing buckles at home and not in the field. The bags themselves performed admirably as always, with only the new buckle design being a drawback. However, it's a potentially a pretty big drawback.

I bought a number of these dry bags in different sizes and colors. I just got off a river in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and it rained every day, except ONE! I was rafting and used a large, tough dry bag, lined with a large Ultra Sil dry sac ... then organized my gear into these smaller bags. I have found that redundancy in the field is a good thing! It was so nice to reach in and grab a bag, knowing what was inside!!! All my clothing and gear that needed to stay dry DID. As I pulled individual Ultra Sil Dry Bags out for different items, the other things in my pack stayed dry. Organization and dryness - what more could I ask for!One thing I noticed is that I don't need as large a dry bag as I thought I did, as you can compress items, and save space. For ... I bought a smallish one a few months ago to use as a bear bag and it is perfect! Ultralight and it closes in a way that is waterproof and can squeeze our air. I just recently got another one (large one) to replace a pack liner & will be using it on my next trip. So far I have used it once in a day pack, and it worked well. Highly recommend!
I purchased the 20 liter dry sac as bag liner for my 40 ultimate Direction Fast Pack. Given the wt and durability this is a great option for pro texting items inside the pack for 4-5 day excursions during a fast pack trip or even a 100 mile race. The peace of mind knowing your gear is safe inside like sleep system and electronics “power bank” are a game changer. I did try polycro bag liner a bit to fragile for me. Over all happy with the purchase and would buy again and recommend for UL packing.
Four uses of this bag and the buckle pin (screw) came out. I was on a backpacking trip and was using this to keep my food organized and dry. The pin came out of the buckle and now its useless because I cannot find the pin. If there was a small hole on the other side of where the pin goes I could have threaded some floss through and still used the bag. I am seriously starting to believe none of these products are made by people who actually engage in their use. Also the buckle is very hard to unsnap. I want my money back.
Just The bags I needed. I warm planning on using the 35L bags for my zero degree down quilts as emergency bag in my truck along with gloves matches beanie, ect.I bought some smaller bags with emergency gear in mind.I will setup with At least 2 bags for emergencies,. I figure a larger bag is easier to find In an emergency and the orange bags I have purchased are for the reasons and they are waterproof. Thanks Sea to Summit
Generally I've had good experience with STS gear. I have an number of their ultrasil stuff sacks, which have performed as expected. One recent issue was a screw came loose on the newer sack that touts a "field replaceable" buckle. Great concept but a screw fell out of my 2L dry sack buckle and was lost on the first night of a 7 day trip. There was no misstreatment or heavy use, opening and closing once or twice a day and kept in my pack for the majority of the day. I checked my other dry sacks and screws were loose on 2 other dry sacks. Thankfully, I did not encounter conditions where the fully sealed bag was essential. For the price of these dry sacks STS should include extra screws with them. I gave this 2 stars since a dry sack that can't close isn't a dry sack.
This is one of the first Sea to Summit items I owned, it turned me on to S2S dry bags for life! The tradeoff of this bag being so lightweight is that it is not fully waterproof. Testing by submersing it resulted in some moisture inside. Which is fine and expected, a better use is using it to store a phone (inside a pack) during rain.I use it now to house my first aid kit. As a trip organizer, I am always passing the kit around to share moleskin or bandaids, and it has stood up to that wear and tear really well. The bright green color makes it easy to spot, and the small 8 liter size fits perfectly in the cap of my pack so it is easy to grab. For a short period of time, I used this bag as a snack bag, but this bag does not a D ring to hang it. The 8 liter size is small enough that a carabiner can be clipped through the folded over section without weight being an issue. I would be hesitant to hang much weight in the larger ultra-sil dry sacks... The lightweight dry sacks are a better option if you are looking for something to hang with.
*Updated review* I recently purchased a few USDSs for a multiday trip to Yosemite. On the second night a screw fell out of the buckle and was lost making the sack useless. I checked the other USDSs I had and there were loose screws on at least one other bag. As a result I originally posted a 2 star review. After interacting with S2S customer service, I'm reposting as a 4 star review (5 stars is reserved for highly functional produces with no issues). S2S customer service knocked this out of the park. The were aware of the issue, noted a fix was in place and sent me not one but several replacement buckles; no hassle whatsoever. I don't recall any company confirming there's an issue with a product. Honesty and integrity along with high quality gear gets my brand ... More*Updated review* I recently purchased a few USDSs for a multiday trip to Yosemite.
