Great

Finally, a cup that holds plenty of drink (not a wussy 6 or 8 oz cup), is light weight, and collapses into nearly nothing. The pot is really amazingly deceptive...it is light and collapses small as a pancake for easy packing, and it appears to be much smaller than it actually is.because of its wide short profile. The large base collects a lot of heat so it heats water very quickly and efficiently.(unlike tall narrow coffee pots). I experienced NO unpleasant odor or taste from it and it cleans up easily and completely.

I love this set. On a recent trip, a chipmunk chewed through the silicon on one of the pots and rendered it useless. For a long backpacking trip in the backcountry, this risk could be serious. This risk does not exist with titanium or other metal pots. Minus this risk, it's a great set.

I'm not your normal backpacking cooking girl. None of those yucky dehydrated meals for me! I cook real meals in the backcountry. I've used a titanium pot for the last 5 years and decided to upgrade. I made orzo with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and smoked trout. About 5 minutes to boil water. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Turned off. No sticking to bottom. Easy clean up. It did not retain the flavor for the next meal. Returned and cleaned up the pot--it still looks brand new! Plus so easy to pour my tea. No problem with eating out of my pot either--it did not collapse. And light weight and easy to pack. Cups are awesome too---hot tea did not burn my hands and wine tasted delicious--with no after tastes of mint tea.

High Tea Time
27 July 2020

Just a sweet little kit.Kettle has a solid base into which everything (cups included) folds down into.Boils quickly and is easy to pour.Cups are a good size (and sit solidly, not flimsy) and make for pleasant cup of tea or a bowl of instant oatmeal.Used for bike camping and day trips. Very narrow, but the diameter is a bit wide so check you width if packing in a frame bag or saddle bag to make sure it will fit.Happy purchase. Hard part now is deciding if this is jasmine ride, green tea ride, or an earl grey ride.

High flame!

At first I was skeptical about the ability of silicon to withstand heat. I was pleasantly surprised with the ability of the wide base of the pot to stand the high flame of my stove. The cups also held in the heat of hot chocolate pretty good. I love this set!

Perfect for lightweight backpacking

Unless you are a true minimalist and eschew cooking altogether, this is about the next lightest option. What I like from the cooking standpoint is that you cannot only boil water, but you can actually do some modest pan frying (I would recommend against using any oil because the hot splatters may damage the sidewalls. A little bit of clarified butter or Ghee works over low temperatures). The kit is lightweight compared to any titanium cooksets consisting of only a boiling pot, and compresses down into a really small volume. Likewise the cups, and it is nice that they are different colors, as it helps to keep them straight between me and my hiking partner. The fact that there is a pour spout is a nice touch. I find that putting the lid on can lead to inadvertent ... MoreUnless you are a true minimalist and eschew cooking altogether, this is about the next lightest option. I find that putting the lid on can lead to inadvertent collapse of the pot if done too forcefully, so if you haven't put the lid on prior to boiling, be careful doing it when the water is hot. All in all, a great addition to my multiday lightweight backpacking gear!

Space Saving Wonder

I took the X Kettle and matching cups on a 2 night camping trip. The aluminum base allows for quick heat conducting and the clear plastic top made it easy to see when your liquid is boiling and the plastic handles made it easy to handle the kettle to pour. I also love that the collapsed cups fit perfectly within the collapsed kettle really making this a very space efficient addition to my pack!

The BEST.
17 January 2023

I LOVE Sea-to-Summit's backpacking cooksets. The way everything nests together is awesome, they're lightweight, convenient, and durable. The silicone is always way easy to clean in the backcountry which I love. These new sand/rust colors are SWEET. I have the X-pot, X-pan, X-kettle, lots of the x-mugs, and the Alpha utensils and they're all way better than any other backpacking cookware I've used. I generally use a camp stove--cooking with the silicone stuff over an open flame is definitely more difficult, but it can be done.

I got this to make tea. Its so convenient when collapsed that I just take it with me everywhere. Fits in a jacket pocket! I can get free hot water at work and most coffee places will hook it up with water or even ice. No more buying and wasting disposable cups. When out and about I use the X Pot with a pocket rocket to get the tea going. I keep this in my messenger bag quick access compartment with some loose leaf tea so I'm ready to brew anytime.Pros: Its pretty much perfect.Cons?:The contents are not at all insulated and will not stay hot or cold for very long which is fine just be aware of this and use a tea pot cozy to keep the heat from transferring through the base. The lid did start to crack from the center out probably because it was in my bag ... MoreI got this to make tea. Make sure its not under any stress. I was told by S2S that a new reinforced lid is on the way. They seem to stand behind their product, cool!Colors or the lack there of. I'm sure people are buying these like hot cakes, time for some more color options like black or grey? The neon color is loud and people will come up to you to ask about it, a lot... they cant resist the x-pot awesomeness
