Highly recommend for all saltwater tank set ups. A combination of Seachem Purigen and Prime is all you need for filtration outside of your natural filtration (live rock and live sand). They will keep your parameters at ideal levels even if you don’t do water changes as frequently as you should. The Purigen can also be recharged and reused once it changes colors to brown showing that it is spent.

Great product , really works well to clarify cloudy aquarium water . I had been having a hard time with clearing water in a newly setup tank threw a bag of purigen into the last tray of my canister filter and within 2 - 3 weeks polished crystal clear water . This product is good value as it is possible to regenerate it by soaking in a mild bleach solution for 24 hours then in tank water b4 returning it to your filter , ( check Seachem website for exact specifics on this ! ) .

This stuff is just amazing. I use it on my HOB filter for my turtle tank - crystal clear water. Amazing! I use it in my 55 gal. tank which has 3 BIG goldfish, 2 juvenile goldfish offspring, loaches, corydoras, plecos and snails. The water is sparkling. I use a canister filter here and undergravel filter. When the water rod (jets) stop making a good hard stream of bubbles (telling me the hoses and filter are ready to be cleaned) I switch out to the second set of filter media and add itional Purigen filter bags I have ready. I can do a quick media change this way, while the Purigen soaks I have already got the filter back up and running. The benefits of having back up bags ready to go and extra filter pads. Great product , really works well to clarify cloudy aquarium water . I have used purigen for a year and it's the so much more convenient than charcoal. I have 10 tanks and use purigen in all of them. I purchased enough so that when it's time for filter maintenance I can take out the exhausted purigen and just swap it for a regenerated pouch. Yes you can regenerate purigen by following the instructions on the package or you can Google how to do it. I personally have cleaned and reused purigen up to 5 times . You can tell when purigen needs to be fully replaced when it stays totally brown even with bleaching . It keeps my tanks cleaner longer. I highly recommend purigen.
Used it before, several times. Always works. Was having problems with water not clearing. Used Purigen for just one night and water is now crystal clear. Would recommend it to anyone keeping tropical or cold water fish. It's amazing.
It works. Grains are very small so you will need a fine mesh to put Purigen in (I use a stocking). Recharge process is a process (24 hour wait time). Used with Matrix I have not had any nutrient aissues (nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia). Seachem and Fluval make the best products when it comes to aquarium fish care.
Nothing compares to this filter media. After 1 or 2 days (depending on how discolored your tank water is) your water is crystal clear! Almost like my fish are floating mid air. Best product you can buy for any aquarium. And it's rechargeable, when it turns brown or red, just sit the media in a bleach solution overnight and give it a GOOD rinse to get all the bleach out, and it's brand new again. So you only have to buy this item once really. Great stuff!!
I decided to give this a try and must say that I am impressed by how well it works, compared to activated carbon. My aquarium no longer has a fishy smell and the water is pristine. However, I use far more that the recommended amount of the product for the size of my aquarium. I figured using more would mean less swapping it out to regenerate. Also, be careful of some sellers as they may sell regenerated product, not brand new. The first 1ltre container I bought had a strong smell and moisture in the container. I accidentally spilt it when regenerating and purchased again from a different (authorised) seller. This time the product had almost no smell, no moisture and the seal under the lid of the container was sealed, so was clearly new. This stuff is great! I like driftwood in my aquariums, but I don't like the tea colored water! I put this stuff in my Ehiem external filter and my water was crystal clear in 2 days! Not going to find a better price for a great product!
Purigen is the faster way to clarify cloudy water without messing with the tank equilibrium or triggering other issues. It's a great product. I use a range of filter mediums but keep returning to Purigen as it brings the water crystal clear.
