I have over a dozen 500GB, 1TB & 2TB REAL EcoGreen F4 drives in use right now that I have used through the past 5 years or so. Only one showed signs of slowly beginning to fail and it was replaced under warranty. Seagate is the pinnacle of trash these days. They used to be king when they had their 5 year warranties and I used to be a Seagate fanboy. I'm using it on a Synology DS213 NAS. It's been working for about a month since it arrived and working fine so far. Hope it lasts. It isn't the fastest hard drive but for a home NAS should be good enough. Would have liked if it came with some screws since I had lost the original ones. Not a big deal, but good to know if you need to buy them separately.

This drive happened to come up on sale while assembling parts for a Media Center HTPC, so grabbed it. Ran great for 30 days. Then, watching an HBO show recorded the night before, the picture suddenly stuttered and froze. Could not reboot PC. Could not restore image backup. Reinstalled Win7 on an 8-year old Hitachi 80 Gig from a retired machine. Win7 reported SMART fail on the 2T. Ran Seagate SeaTools with same result. Seagate is sending a replacement under warranty. I was able to copy all recorded content onto an external drive, but all saved HBO shows are gone because Microsoft DRM support says "recorded on a different computer". Bummer. Seagate doesn't explain the reasons for SMART fail, but symptoms indicate bad media. Hopefully, the replacement will last longer. ... The vexing problem was that Media Center frequently reported Weak Signal errors and other problems when trying to watch live TV. It all ultimately came back to this drive being bad out-of-the-box. One bleary-eyed night, I finally observed that when Media Center reported 'Weak Signal' errors, the HDD light was lit like a streetlamp, never even blinking. Resource Monitor revealed insanely long seek times. This broken behavior so interfered with the live TV's cache that Media Center's data stream contantly was interrupted. They arrived bearing Samsung's name, but with Seagate contact information and Seagate's "Barracuda Green" brand on the label as well. Of course I haven't opened the cases, but the exteriors are slightly different from the earlier Samsung's. So I can't tell if these are still Samsung drives internally, or the much inferior Seagate Barracudas. Newegg still lists a three year warranty, versus one year for the Seagate Barracuda green. However, my two new drives did not include the little warranty/installation flyer ... Afterwards, I went into Disk Management and formatted this drive. Then, I dragged 5 gigs of data back and forth to test it somewhat, before moving some ... Bought one in 2012 for my first build and it's lasted me until now. Generally don't leave reviews but this boy has been a trooper so I thought I'd give it the honor. Nothing has failed on it really, been having some other, non-related issues and I figured I'm getting to around the time where it might start to fail on me. All my games are on my 2tb hard drive though. Well, games, movies, rips of physical discs that I don't want to deal with, music, etc....it'll hold everything...I've never filled it. You'd have to either be a person who has to have everything installed even if you don't plan on ever utilizing it, or a pirate for piracy sake...which seems like a waste to me. Update: This drive has served me well for over 11 years now in a computer that's always on. This drive is primarily used for a media server. I've tried to find this particular model in the past as it seems to be built better than any other drive I've come across, but this drive has outlasted its brethren as well. It just won't die, and still shows fairly healthy in CrystalDiskMark
