First off I have always likes Seagates quality in their HDD. This drive model is no exception. My seagates run circles around my WD's are cheaper for the same capacity and last longer. This last purchase was to copy the info from my two oldest WD drives and consolidate them. I would highly recomend this drive model as it really is cheaper in the long run and is quite affordable for 5 TB storage.

5 stars because it's an excellent little hard drive, as Seagate products typically are. However, for buyer research, I want to expand on a question regarding compatibility with iPad, and echo what I've written in the Q&A:All answers in the Q&A section say that it's not compatible with iPad, but in my experience, it works just fine with my 3rd Gen iPad Pro (USB-C*) if the drive is formatted in either exFAT or Mac OS Extended Journaled (both in GUID partition).*An iPad with a Lightning connector would likely require the use of Apple's Lightning to USB Camera AdapterHowever the one caveat is that I can't get the iPad to recognize it if it's encrypted. When formatted in Mac OS Extended Journaled Encrypted, the drive would power on, but it would not be recognized ... More5 stars because it's an excellent little hard drive, as Seagate products typically are. But if you want something encrypted for direct use with your iPad, use a flash drive or an external SSD and use APFS Encrypted.Otherwise, this is a fine hard disk drive all around and will see use as a compact backup for the iPad's flash drive and other personal files (using a Mac for file management).

I have not purchased an external drive in some time so I was pleasantly surprised to see the price was so good. I mean I knew it wasn’t going to break the bank but it never fails to surprise me just how inexpensive they are for what they are. Purchased to use as a backup/clone of another drive (also seagate 2tb, slim version) that I have had seemingly forever (which is exactly why I got this, paranoia that my luck so far may run out) and it hasn’t let me down so when I was looking to get another I went for a seagate just as I did when getting a drive for a backup of my computer. I’m not one to shill for any brands but in my experience, seagate is a good choice. .

After doing a bit of research, I purchased the STGX2000400 (2T). It arrived yesterday and I plugged it in right away. Unfortunately, it is NOT compatible with MacOS even though the website states, "Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap—just drag-and-drop. Get automatic recognition when plugging this external hard drive for Mac or PC—no software required." I reached out to Seagate Help and was told that "it is always important to conform the information with the data sheet of the drive, there you will find all the important specification of the drive." So it's my fault that I followed what your website says but didn't read the data sheet? Poor customer service, incorrect information on YOUR website.
The Portable 4TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive with Rescue Data Recovery Services is an exceptional storage solution. Its impressive 4TB capacity provides ample space for all your data needs, from important documents to multimedia files. The USB 3.0 interface ensures rapid data transfer, significantly reducing wait times. What truly sets this hard drive apart is its inclusion of Rescue Data Recovery Services. This valuable feature offers peace of mind, assuring that your data remains secure even in the face of unexpected mishaps. The service's efficiency in recovering lost or corrupted data is remarkable.
Good product. Works perfect for PlayStation 4 however be wary if you own a ps5 because you can’t play ps5 games stored on the hard drive. The games on the hard drive are only playable if they are ps4 games. You can still store ps5 games on there they just won’t be playable until you move them back to your console storage. You also cannot store saved data nor game clips/screenshots on the external hard drive
Portable hard drive is always helpful if you dont want to keep personal data/pics into cloud. Seagate have been my preferred choice because of they quality products. Except one, all portable drive my family have is Seagate and no complains even after soo many year. Its plug and play always without having any issues. My personal recommendation is this drive as it has the MOST value for money 2tb in such good price at BestBuy was a never miss opportunity. If you have a need for space, GO FOR IT.
Bought one of these drives 4-5 weeks ago for use with a Windows laptop. It's worked fine to store my backups. I've used the free Seagate Toolkit to run my scheduled backups and I've not had any issues so far.Previously I used a Synology backup solution for years and I encountered several hardware failures and numerous software problems. The Seagate solution seems much better so far - as well as much less expensive.
