The performance on hard floors and carpets is fantastic. Love the train lines on the carpet where it has sucked it all back into life. Also noticed a huge reduction in dust since getting this machine. The dust filters really capture tiny bits and keeps then in the bin. Emptying is super easy, yes the bin is small but i empty it after each use anyway and the bin is more than big enough to do a 2 bed flat covered in dog hair on a daily basis without needing emptied half way. Long cord is excellent... so much reach. The ability to fold to store is excellent, really compact. You soon get used to the fact it is not self standing when unfolded and can either lay it against something or just fold it to make it stand up. Glad i never forked out more for the pet version... this is so versatile i haven't used a single tool in the 2 months I've had it. So also no complaints there is no on board tool storage cause i really don't think you need any. The only thing i think is a bit useless is using it the bendy go under furniture style. Its just too difficult to steer properly in that style and feels vulnerable at the hinge. To be honest... used in full straight stick mode it easily goes under sofas, chairs and kitchen cabinets without deploying the bend, but i suppose if you had mobility issues the bend mean ns you don't need lean down to get under things. Shark recommends washing the dust bin filter every 2 weeks. I easily went a month with daily use before feeling any loss os suction. I did buy some extra filters but these ones actually wash up really well. Just warm running water and gentle squeezing on the dirty bits gets them up very nearly good as new. Really am very impressed with this. Someone had really thought about functionality in use and in storage. Great long guarantee helped make my mind up to go Shark.

This has to be the worst hoover I have ever owned. I purchased the Shark Duo clean last October when I moved into my new home. Yes it is light compared to the Dyson I had prior but its just so poorly built. The handle is so loose and the whole thing feels like its about to fall apart. The reason I brought this model is because a friend has an earlier model and swears by it. On their earlier model you are able to take out the roller bush to clean it but not on my model. So when it stopped turning a few weeks ago I was not able to take it out to clean it. I called Shark direct and was on the phone for 90 minutes in total before they agreed to send me out a replacement. Pros: This is absolutely an amazing product. This vacuum cleans my house very well, the suction is really powerful, it picks up even the smallest dust. It is suitable for both carpet and hard floors. This vacuum is not too heavy and easy to move around. I loved the hair wrap technology, which does save lots of time and hassle. I don’t have to worry about hair tangling into the brush. I loved the fact that it bends and I am able to clean underneath the furniture very easily. It’s not too big in the size and really easy to store. This vacuum does also converts to handheld which is ideal to clean home furniture and car. The lights on the head are life saver, you can see the dust clearly and don’t miss out anything. Even the staff in John Lewis are just pushing for sales with no other knowledge of the products than the descriptions you see online. Naturally, I clean and handle the unit with accordance to the instruction manual to make sure its life is extended as far as possible and to keep the unit in mint condition. And yet, it’s still not good enough, because it’s just getting worse and worse. I really like the clever idea of a folding hoover, and how little space it takes up in my cupboard, but I am now willing to compromise, and sacrifice cupboard space for a decent vacuum. I don’t believe I am eligible for a return now, as I’ve had it for 4 months and it’s used one-twice a week, so I’m just going to stick it out for a few more week, until I can get a Henry after Christmas. Two stars only because I find the folding idea really clever; although, it does come with its little defect of not being perfect in the joint.

I had seen many demonstrations on tv but until now, I had only thought that maybe my next vacuum would be a Shark, when a replacement was needed but with no definite plan. I have always stuck with my corded canister from another well known British manufacturer because it was doing a good job and there was no reason to replace it. But after having a serious operation on my lower leg and then struggling with the weight of moving the canister up and down the stairs I needed to find a better solution and after researching the various Shark models I came across a good deal for the Truepet HZ500UKT. I am really amazed by the suction power and the performance. I have read the occasional review where they say the vacuum is heavy to push around, but that is because the suction is so powerful and literally holds on to the carpet and pulls out the dust, dirt, and hair. I have not found it heavy to lift up when moving it about. I also think the Flexology feature is excellent, especially for storage where the vacuum is very compact when folded over. All in all I am very happy with my purchase. The only small niggle is that I just wish the accessory tools were a click on instead of just pushing them on. It would be a better fit and much easier to put on and take off. Perhaps that could be considered for future development improvements.

The head section moves frommside to side and up and down though there's no way to fix the head the stay straight, so when your hoovering carpet (with more traction) is constantly goes off to one side, the head also lights off the floor into the back wheels and you end up drawing the hoover backwards to reset. The suction is absolutely useless, my husband cleans ours out regularly following the instructions but it's still very poor. I find myself having to go over the same spot multiple times to clean it. The internal pipe that takes dust and dirt up the stick and into the container gets blocked very easily. The suction is absolutely useless, my husband cleans ours out regularly following the instructions but it's still very poor. I find myself having to go over the same spot multiple times to clean it. The internal pipe that takes dust and dirt up the stick and into the container gets blocked very easily. If you need to let go of the hoover to move a peice of furniture or lift the edge or corner of a rug fir example you have to collapse the hoover down as it cannot stand upright on its own, it just falls over. The main issue with it thought is thr lack of suction through the stick, it's genuinely is rubbish .. would never buy again and definitely wouldn't recommend
Great vacuum cleaner, good suction and the brushes do pick up hair without entangling the brushes. The HZ500 is light easy to use and cleans effectively, in fact much better than the vacuums we have previous owned (including but not limited to a couple of Dyson's and a Bosch). However, that said the HZ500 had an inherent serious design flaw. The joint that allows the "wand" (official part name) to fold is not fit for purpose. If you go to the reviews of this part on this website and reviews on websites from online seller of the HZ500, you will see that a lot of people have suffered similar failure of the wand hinge. Admittedly some broke theirs trying to fold the "wand" (pipe connecting the brush to the vacuum motor) the wrong way. For us the hinge joint failed gradually, it started with slight side to side lateral movement, which over time increased until moving approximately a centimetre to the left or right when it completly broke ( I wish to make clear the vacuum was 13 months old when the wand broke and it had not been abused, in fact apart from the first day of ownership, we had not used the hinge to sweep under furniture, only to fold the correct direction to store the vacuum). I tried to place a makeshift splint round the hinge joint but it was not possible to do so in a way that would stop the movement, plus the vacuum wand could no longer be folded. After the wand broke, I want on to the Shark website and tired to purchase a new one but the Shark parts website has shown the HZ500 wand as out of stock for nearly six weeks now. Also I scoured eBay, Gumtree and every other site I could think of but the only one that appeared on eBay was second hand and purchased for over double the price of a new one. In fairness after calling Shark five times over several weeks they did actually solve the problem. However knowing that the HZ500 has an issue with the wand hinge it should have only taken one call to obtain resolution, not five calls. Shark you need to redesign the wand hinge so that it is not so fragile.
