I own and adore a Shark Apex Uplight and bought this stick vacuum as a gift for a senior friend. I was surprised at how well it changed the speed and the beater bar settings when it went from carpet to floor; it really did an excellent job. The dirt cup holds less than my Apex but far more than many other Shark stick vacuums. I think it's perfectly adequate. The best thing they did, however, was to make it easy to leave in an upright position. People have been complaining about having to brace or lay down their stick vacuums whenever you change plug location or move furniture since they discontinued the Apex Uplight. I have had this vacuum for around 2 months now and love it. I have only had Shark vacuums for around 10 years now and this is by far the best one I've had. My previous is still going strong, it just lives in the basement now. This does a great job picking up pet hair from carpet and hard floor. Not needing to clean my hair from around the brush is probably my favorite part about this vacuum. And I love that the dust cup comes out of the vacuum and I don't have to carry the entire motor over to the garbage. And when it needs it I can take out the filters and wash the entire dust cup. It is fairly light and easy to carry up and down the stairs. I use the upholstery tool on the couch and my carpeted stairs and it works great. The odor neutralizer is a good idea in ... I had 2 previous shark vacuums and I decided to try a Bissel when my duo clean speed died. I hated it so much I got this shark stratos just 3 months later. I love the width of the stratos, it fits into most of the spaces without having to go to attachments and it goes right underneath furniture. It's propelled which makes it easy to maneuver especially on carpets. The soft front brush does such a nice job on floors so there's not a line of dust left around edges everywhere. I have long hair and so far nothing is tangled around the brushes. I find the hair wrapped around the cone in the dustbin and it just slides off. The small bin size isn't an issue because I always emptied the vacuum between cleaning upstairs and downstairs anyway. The fresh scent is great instead ... I cannot believe the power and suction this has for carpet, floor and handheld dusting. I had the previous model to this one and this is unbelievably better cleaning on carpet and floors and it stands upright !!What I want to stress is how much fine powdery dust I pick up from my carpet that I don't see my Shark upright or previous vacs pulling in.
