A good value purchase

The Sharp R350EW has proven to be a good buy for us. Instructions in manual were clear and easy to follow. The inside cavity is a good size, opening and closing is easy. It has a "cool down" fan feature for 30 seconds which took a bit of getting used to. Control panel is clear and, as ours is raised on a shelf above the bench, it is easy to read. Might be a bit tricky if it were under a bench as the font is in fact quite small. Being 1200W it is a powerful unit, but being able to reduce in 100W increments gives you a lot of control when reheating things carefully, which is great. Overall, we are very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this microwave in April 2020, started using it a couple of months later - we knew the old one was on the way out and didnt want to be left without one if it became hard to buy them due to Covid. When we started using it, we noticed it had the annoying feature of having to skip through the clock setting to get to the timer setting. So if youre not paying close enough attention you can accidentally set the clock instead of the timer (because its the same button). It is now August 2021 (so weve been using the microwave for around 14 months) and it has just started making an awful noise and emitting a burning smell, so it no longer appears to be safe to use. I love this particular microwave oven. Have purchased the same model (with little updates along the way) for over 10 years now. Love the new modern grey inside. Makes great scrambled eggs. Very easy to use and easy to clean. Everyone in the family has been able to use it. Love that it has a numerical pad so you can tell it exactly how many minutes to cook for.

Good Microwave but not as user friendly as previous model
30 May 2022

We purchased this model to replace the previous version with which we were very happy but had decided to stop working (blown fuse caused by a serious problem in the internal circuits so not worth repairing) after giving us good service. It looked the same so we ordered it online for click and collect. It works well but the menu system has changed for the worse and the door opening mechanism is nowhere near as easy to use as the previous model. Sad that they have felt the need to change things but not for the better.

Great Microwave
23 October 2021

This was a replacement microwave, so was wanting something that defrosts really well. This has a ton of auto features, but you can also manually set the power level and time via the numerical pad, which we love having that option. Great at defrosting. Love it. I read some criticism about the internal light being too dark. This was not my experience with t microwave being well let. I put that down to finicky reviewers just finding silly faults. This seems like a great microwave. The guys at Harvey Norman were also very good, and they had available stock in store, whereas the other retailers all had to get stuff from the warehouse which meant a 2-4 day wait. So good on you HN for holding stock on store.

Great microwave
29 May 2021

The door sounds plastic compared to our previous microwave but having said that, I love the unit. I especially love the reduction in wattage rather than turning full power on and off to reduce cooking. When I make my porridge in the morning, using full power fro bring the porridge to boiling, then a minute on 700 finishes the cooking with boiling it over. I found the beverage reheat not hot enough for me, but that's a minor thing. I haven't tried the other settings, so cannot comment on them. I'm a long term Sharp microwave user and have been very happy with them. My last one (Sharp Carousel) lasted 7 years with moderate use,

Not a patch on the previous model
26 August 2021

It looks the same as the previous model but is an inferior product Heres why. For some very strange reason in order to cook something at lower power level the user now needs to go through a very complex 5 step click process.. similarly to use the timer. It might say 1200w but its less powerful so what used to take 1 min now takes 1min 20secs.Instant heat is mow only 30 secs instead of 1 min why The 1 min was oerfect. Food is niw heated very unevenly. To my thinking, Sharp has purposely created an inferior product to manipulate loyal customers to move away from carousel to the more expensive model which has a smaller oven space. Ill be changing brands after 20 yrs of lotalty to Sharp.

Not what I Thought
28 July 2022

At present I am disappointed with this product compared to my twenty year old panasonic genius. I need to read the book to study the programs. It is not as simple and straight forward and noisy. When the food finishes cooking the noisy fan keeps going. So far I have overcooked the vegetables, over heated reheated food. Some of the problem is it is a much stronger 1200w microwave. The programs are more involved. Another thing is the finger marks on the front door and on the keypad, continually needs wiping.

Our R-350E(W) seriously overcooks Frozen Vegetable
19 August 2021

We have happily owned several Sharp Carousel microwaves over many years in several houses We use microwaves for -thawing frozen product -heating stuff -cooking frozen vegetables Our last Sharp Carousel microwave died after several years successful duty. Unfortunately it seems the model is no longer available, so we selected the R-350E(W) which looked like a next gen Sharp Carousel. Our new R-350E(W) looks good & seems to work OK except it SERIOUSLY overcooks "frozen vegetables" in cooking sensor mode. I'm talking shrivelled, crinkly peas. I don't know if this is a flawed model or just a fault in our particular microwave. I have lodged a warranty claim CS 00478201

Sharp Microwave
6 January 2023

I bought this to replace an existing Sharp microwave (the white plastic front had yellowed over time). We find the way the controls work on this model are awkward compare the older model (particularly setting power and cooking times) and the inverter noise stays on for a while after cooking has stopped (which is confusing and annoying as you think the machine is still cooking). The new machine does not display the power setting while cooking - the old model shows the power and the time remaining I've actually reverted to using the old model more than this one (both are powered in the kitchen). Don't get me wrong, it's a good machine and it was well priced I just find using it backwards to what I'm used to. I hope over time, I begin to use it more.
