Indoor training is highly effective at building your fitness. But even if you're wearing a superlight mesh base layer, highly breathable cycling shorts and with the fan on full-blast, you'll still build up a healthy sweat. And your feet don't miss out on the fun either, which is where the highly ventilated IC1 Indoor Cycling shoes come into their own. In order to deal with moisture quickly and effectively and keep your feet feeling cooler, the IC1s have a highly breathable sock-like mesh upper. Even during the toughest of interval sessions this allows your feet to breathe and keeps cool, fresh air circulating. The fixture system is kept lightweight and simple too. A single cross strap gives a secure and easy to adjust fit and makes it super-easy to get in and out of your shoes before and after your training sessions. Versatility is also excellent thanks to the sole unit. This is compatible with both 2-bolt and 3-bolt cleats and pedal systems. So whether your spin bike or home trainer bike uses double-sided MTB style pedals or single-sided you can clip in and get pedalling. The lightweight sole, a glass fibre reinforced nylon unit, also offers excellent pedalling efficiency and foot support while also keeping the price of the shoes affordable.

Defective Design, Poor Customer Service

The cleats completely move and change position while you clip in and out of the bike AND while pedaling, but you need to completely unscrew the cleats to move them back into position. I can’t even use them because they are DEFECTIVE and MOVE while I’m biking. Tried to return but they won’t refund me because the bottom of the shoe is scratched DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I can’t even use the shoes because they move while I’m biking and they won’t give me my money back. If I were you I’d buy from a company with better business practices. Be warned!

Definitely buying

I've been looking for a new pair of indoor cycling shoes and these look great! I love the versatility of the five-hole outsole, and the breathable mesh upper sounds perfect for those hot workouts. I'm definitely considering purchasing a pair.Gym Trivia

Delighted with these for spin class.

Bought these specifically for spin class, having never worn cycling shoes before. The fit and size is spot on and they seem very well made, high quality and lightweight as described . After a couple of classes to get used to them and get the cleats adjusted, I won’t be going back to trainers! Delighted with my purchase and would recommend for indoor use.

Disappointing indoor cycling shoes
18 August 2022

Really disappointed with these Shimano shoes. Bought these for my spin bike and to replace other Shimano shoes that fitted one foot well and not quite the other so thought I'd try these indoor cycling shoes instead of new road shoes. I really wanted the IC5 but sadly they only come in SPD, not SPD-SL.The IC1 are light but offer practically no support. The insoles are incredibly poor quality. They're very thin, flat, flimsy and with no arch support. The closing system consists of a wide strap that leaves the top part of the foot quite loose. I prefer BOA dials by far.The shoes design resembles diving shoes, they have elastic around the ankle that can dig into the skin. I'm also experiencing hotspots in several places that I didn't have with my other road ... MoreReally disappointed with these Shimano shoes. I'm also experiencing hotspots in several places that I didn't have with my other road shoes.I sized up meaning that they're quite large in one foot just so I wouldn't experience pressure on my big toe in my other foot.I needed to try them with cleats in for a proper fit assessment so sadly I can't return them. I've swapped out the insoles for my other smaller Shimanos as those are firmer and support the arch a lot better. I'm also trying different sock thicknesses to help with hotspots. All in all, I don't find this model suitable for indoor cycling. It's a real shame that other indoor cycling shoes don't come with a 5 bolt system allowing both SPD and SPD-SL cleats.

Great shoe for indoor spin classes
12 November 2021

The shoes are excellent value for money. Well made and snug fitting. They are not extremely adjustable but are good enough for all indoor cycling (Sprint, RPM, Spin). They fasten using a piece of fabric across your foot and I can see this wearing out over time. I've been using them for a month (4 to 6 classes a week) and the straps are holding up so far so I think they will last a year at least. The shoe is like a tight sock so if you have very broad feet they would be uncomfortable.Delivery was extremely fast (ordered one day and received the next) so I am very happy

If you do a lot of indoor miles these are highly recommended!

Having used road shoes for a few years on my Wahoo Kickr smart trainer and never really feeling any reason to change i was a little apprehensive about trying these but the price on offer from Tredz was too good to turn down so i took the plunge.Ive been a Shimano shoe user for over 10 years now as i find they fit me perfectly (size up,I’m a 44 but in Shimano shoes its a 45) and the build quality is always very high. Its the same with these IC100 indoor shoes as the fit and finish are exceptional and they are super comfortable with good ventilation. Theres a Velcro strap that secures the shoe across the top and i have no issues with it,yes i dont put out megawatts of power but i can get out the saddle from time to time and do several sustained hard sprints without any issues with the strap coming undone.Ive ridden around 550km now since i bought them and they really are super impressive,i tend to do a lot of miles on the trainer during the winter and the shoes are a joy to use.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone, indeed i was very sceptical about an indoor shoe as I thought it was marketing bluff but having tried them Im a big fan.A fantastic shoe for indoor cycling!

Must Have for Spinning
8 June 2021

After being run over twice on the Gold Coast, I decided that Spinning would be a better workout without the abuse - in more ways than one - and opted a few years ago for a half dozen GCN classes on a USB stick & a TV screen in my Garage.Had my first workout today with the new IC100. Best shoe ever!Buying online I wasn’t sure on size, so I opted to go with the EU44 size, which reads US9.7. Usually that means the shoe will be too small. So glad I went with this. Wearing thin socks, it’s a snug fit for max power transfer. Super comfy!

Review of Shimano IC100 Shoe Black, 40
23 May 2024

These are great shoes to use on a spin bike. Bought to use in spin classes and SPD cleats fit perfectly for use with Stages bikes. I’m usually a size 6 and size 40 is a perfect fit. Had lots of compliments from friends at the gym.

SH-100 Indoor Cycling Shoes

I am extremely satisfied. Comfort fit and function are excellent. Shimano shoes always fit my feet perfectly. My training effectiveness feedback data, indicates no noticeable power differences as compared to my current Shimano road shoes….. and you can be sure, I can tell both from a subjective and objective perspective. There is no annoying bruising at the front of my ankle:foot articulating joint just behind my longitudinal arch of my instep. All of my clients experience this malady from just about any road shoes at one time or the other, especially during extended and continuous Cardio Endurance training episodes. But with these shoes no issue of the sort is evident. So much so, I have done a sort-of promotional presentation of the shoes to my clientele who are ... MoreI am extremely satisfied. I know for a fact that clients in Toronto, New York, Florida, Bowmanville and as far away as Lausanne, Switzerland have acquired them in the last few weeks. One down side was that most purchased them on the popular online networks during the recently concluded “Black Friday” promotions. My feedback is that they all love them. Have had NOT ONE dissatisfied response so far.

Very Snug but Comfortable
23 April 2023

A light, good quality and comfortable shoe. Having read previous reviews I went for a shoe size a half size larger than I needed. Shoes come up tight but not uncomfortable, but does mean I have to pick thin socks, so perhaps a single size larger would have been more appropriate. There no floor protection when using SID cleats so I need to put them on in the cycle studio near the bike.
