This was my second one purchased. Seemed okay on delivery. Rigged up. 1st cast, set the hook and the rod tip broke about 6 inches from the tip. Clean break. Bad batch?

I bought this rod last summer in a medium light and spooled it with suffix braid. I could not believe how well it fished. I caught pike and rainbow trout on this set up. With the braid it was sensitive enough for slight nibbles but it held up great when hooked up with 2ft+ pike!It was my first summer fishing spinning rods and I had no idea where to start. I have two buddies who were guides off the NW coast of BC and they both stressed getting a Shimano. I compared this rod to an ugly stik (same price point) in the store and could not believe how much higher the quality was. Looking down the blank the shimano was straight as an arrow. This combo is silky smooth. I have the 7 ft 2000 version. For the price you can't beat it , but then again it's a shimano - what more needs to be said !

I needed something with a little backbone to throw weightless plastics. This combo does the trick so far. Smooth reel and drag, and the rod is well balanced.

I’ve been on cheap Kmart rods all my life. I bought this rod and it has changed everything, the rod is nice and light and is very responsive to bites and hits. The reel is just as good with its ultra smooth drag and lightweight design. This is the best rod ever!!!!!
I really like the rod. The reel was smooth however after a couple months the drag messed up. Shimano replaced the reel under warranty but I had to pay the shipping to return it. I probably wouldn't buy another one.
Excellent. Although the rod is very stiff. It's not a bad thing, just keep it in mind when purchasing. The reel is excellent.

Great setup. Perfect for finnese bass fishing. Reel is awesome and rod isn't bad either. But the reel is better then the rod. But as a whole it gets it done like most shimano products
