Worth every f'ING penny.... well, almost! It is expensive in my book, I have caught a lot of fish on MUCH less pricey reels. But never have I felt the buttery goodness that this reel represents. If you are on the fence... BUY IT! I can assure you after decades of chucking big baits this one has the stuff to back it up for a very long time. I've used it for several trips now, and it feels as good now as it did when I first cast it! Saving up for the smaller one now to use soundside. (Highly recommend using with super 8 slick braid)

Well, frankly, I wish I could give it 4.5 stars because a surf reel with 44 pounds of drag, where folks might be targeting big bull reds, sharks, stripers, etc. . . . it really ought to have a better handle option. Don't get me wrong - the handle is totally strong. Not flimsy at all. But I do prefer the more grabby egg-shaped that come on the Stradic 8000s for example.Paired with a 12' Shimano Tiralejo, I can easily hit the second gut. With some practice, I have no doubt I'll be able to cast 4 oz 150 yards.Shimano's usual peerless fit and finish, excellent engineering, and you have a winner. If you'd been thinking about the Saragosa due to its sealed body and strength, take a look at this if you're mostly into surf fishing.I'm saving for another.

I've been looking for a spinning reel that could withstand the rigors of surf fishing, sturdy but light weight. Tried differrent brands, most of them are heavy. The search is over when I got my first shimano ultegra ci4 xtc 14000. It's water sealed, light weight, very smooth retrieve, fast drag. My wife likes surf fishing. When she tried using this, she loves it, so much that we now have 3.

I only use Penns for my spinners, but I can't say this is not a nice looking reel with good specs. Just today I went to a local vendor to look at both the ultegra and the TranX after seeing them here. Nice and smooth action on both and they are both great looking. Have to decide between these two reels or another Avet or my girl might shoot me for having too many already.
I've been looking for a light and small pit reel to combine with a couple of 13' Feeder Rods for some distance fishing for bream and carp. Although these are not exactly cheap, the quality shines through as soon as you un-box it. They are deceptively light and balance a distance feeder rod perfectly - they really do not look out of place. And what looks too! Beautiful reel that any tackle tart would be proud of. I have only fished a single session, chucking a 40gr feeder 60yds. Not a great distance but importantly, when loaded with 6lb mono and a shock leader, it's an effortless experience. Nice smooth reel with long casting capability. Not so sure about the spool, add ons to change spool size. I would never use them
Beautiful looking reel fabulous oscillation and better casting ability, but little did I know according to hearsay via wholesaler from shimano, when retrieving your cast ,bailarm doesn't snap over on reeling in?? Apparently this ability has been moved out due to force on casting hard can cause bailarm to flip during such a cast, either I've been muged off or is very true. Hard to believe.. why move such a feature of a reel..... it's drag adjustment is good to.. tight lines!

Got the reel last Saturday, very good service and fast delivery. Had some questions and they helped in everything that I needed.This reel is amazing, it does absutely everything it says. You will be able to cast miles...Came with one extra spool and 6 line reducers (2x 3500, 2x 6000 and 2x 1000). One spool has 20lb with 6500 reducer and another one with 50lb with 10000 reducer, both power pro braid.Thanks
