My son ( 2 yr old) loves this, he now claims my bike is his bike. It is so easy to fit and doesn’t take up the space that a trailer or rear bike seat does. No issues with damaging the paintwork and feels solid. It is not quick release so you really need to keep it on your bike. This does mean you sometimes rub the inner thigh against the seat but not a big issue. The other issue is there is no way to extend the length so it won’t be very long before he won’t fit it. Give it a year or 18 months before he will be too big for it. However in the meantime we can go on fun adventurous rides together. It’s also like having a personal trainer with you the whole time he’s on there as he keeps saying “faster daddy!!”

We unboxed and installed this seat a couplee weeks ago and tried it out on my 35lb 3yr old and my 45lb 4yr old. Both could ride it comfortably and I got the hang of handling a bike with it on basic single track trails the first evening. 45lbs did feel like quite a lot of extra weight but it still didn't affect my handling of the bike.I've since taken my 3yr old on two 10mi MTB rides, and today finished a 17mi, 2000ft elevation gain single track ride and he LOVES it. I have a couple tips from my experience so far:(1) I found I liked installing the seat pretty far forward on the top tube to give myself enough room and reduce the amount of "bow-leggedness" required to pedal(2) I kept the foot pegs down pretty vertical from the seat (versus angled toward the front ... MoreWe unboxed and installed this seat a couplee weeks ago and tried it out on my 35lb 3yr old and my 45lb 4yr old. I kept it straight forward from my handlebar and NOT vertical. This keeps his head down a little lower.Considerations:(1) You are adding weight for your suspension to compensate, so you might want to firm up the suspension a little bit.(2) Dropper post is really helpful for getting on/off the bikeThis seat will enable you to go for REAL MTB rides with your favorite little person and they'll love it just as much as you.

We’ve used the shotgun now for 3 seasons with our youngest two children! Both of them loved being up front and getting right into the action. We primarily ride x-country. The seat fits nice and snug on the frame of my specialized rockhopper with no movement. Easy to assemble and remove when needed. It’s been a blast riding with our kids on these adventures and highly recommend for those ready to have their kids in a more active role while riding and leaving the chariot behind!

On-point design and product

My wife and are avid road cyclists and we have tried many seats to have not only an enjoyable ride experience ourselves but also with our children. Hands, down, this is the best product we have tried.I will caveat that, this product was clearly design for mountain bikes where down tube and top tube design sweeps and has narrower spacing from each but, we can comfortably fit this on our road bikes with the shotgun seat angled as far forward as possible. Probably helps we are both short, so head tube is not as long keeping both top tube and down tube as close as it can get on a road frame. From the child user perspective, my three year old loves this seat. Given that your child will have to learn to shift weight the same as you do, and the proper amount of steer to turn, I have not doubt that this will increase her balance, precision, and confidence on her own balance bike and once she gets to a pedal bike. From the adult user perspective, I think it's a little nerve wracking to put a kid in any seat on your bike. Only ups the consequence of any mistake. You should have confidence in both your ability and your child's ability before using. Our little girl is already great on a balance bike, and has been with us before so it felt comfortable and safe, quick.Overall, the simplicity of the design and installation is a huge plus for this product. and the user experience is impressive. My only recommendation is think about a design for the road bike community :).

Perfect for my toddler!
16 February 2023

I loved this seat for my little one. Used this with my kiddo when he was 2-3 yrs old. Perfect for cruising on mellow single track where towing a bike trailer would have been impossible. But it also got equally used to go to the library, run errands, or just go for coffee and ice cream. Kept my kid engaged and excited. I felt safe having him between my arms, and he loved being able to talk to me along the way. Great memories, and great workout for Momma.

My kid is stoked to ride with me and I love it. We can talk the whole time and laugh at how fast we're going. He's super stable and comfortable. I've recommended this seat to friends and neighbors. Great investment. My only issue is with the connection to the bike. It's certainly better than the MacRide since I don't have to attach a long tube to my seat/steer tube. There has to be a better solution to the foot peg attaching method of the Shotgun though. I spend quite a bit of time putting the seat on and taking it off. Seems like an excessive amount of threads on the bolt but maybe it has to be that long for different shapes of frames. The quick release in the center is great. I'm not sure what a better solution is overall but there must be something.Would ... MoreMy kid is stoked to ride with me and I love it. We can talk the whole time and laugh at how fast we're going. Super fun
13 September 2022

We've only had 2 rides so far and my 2 year old boy absolutely loves it! It feels so nice to be able to just lift him up and he's seated all ready to go, holding on to his shotgun handle bars. Very easy to install, however I still find that it moves a little back and forth after tightening everything, the lower part of it seems to move just slightly. It doesn't seem to be a problem neither it jeopardises security and comfort. We might just try and refit it again at some point. The main thing is both me and my little boy absolutely love riding together! Thank you. Amazing product.

The Most Fun For the Whole Family
21 April 2022

We bought this and the pro. Both are fantastic. Sturdy, good quality construction. The customer service is outstanding if you need help. And the freedom for parents these seats provide is worth every cent. Finally we can all go out as a family and do something that we are all enjoying 100%. Our kids are having a blast flying down some mountains and we as parents are enjoying riding some decent trails at a decent speed. I only wish we’d bought them sooner.

This completely changed the game
8 February 2023

We have been thrilled by our experience with the shot gun seat. It fits our mtb well and feels secure. We bought it with the handle bars. We started our little on it when she turned 2, she's now nearly 4 and we still use it regularly. It was a complete game changer for longer rides because she has so much fun talking with us as we go. It opened up access to more variety in riding and made bike packing possible and completely fun for all of us. We also found that it taught her balance on a bike and helped her progress on her own bike and now she's a confident little 2-wheeler peddle biker herself.

Toddler Dream Comes True!
1 June 2022

All my little girl wanted was to ride bikes with Dad and this has made her dreams come true! She is 2 1/2 and a small 30 lbs. so she is an easy fit in the seat in front of my husband and he can ride without bumping his knees into her. The cutest thing is her chit chat while they are riding together; "oh dad, look at that squirrel", "going up! / going down!", "Here comes a bump!" Thankfully my techy trails riding husband is smart enough to take it slow and easy with her on the bike. He's mostly used it on pretty flat, buffed trails and a little pump track she loves. But I can see when she's bigger and able to hold on a bit better/longer, they can tackle a few more things without fear of her falling off. She is in heaven riding on daddy's bike! Great Father's Day gift!
