I researched this piece of kit for a long time. In the end, I chose it over the similarly priced Zoom products (H4N, H5) on the basis of being more likely to carry and use it. (The H5 may well reappear on my GAS list). Firstly, I chose the Pro over the cheaper MV88 in order to have a more general connector (USB) rather than just the lightning. I didn't want something that could only work with iOS, or that would be redundant any time either Shure or Apple changed their software or hardware. It goes without saying that the Shure sound is excellent. What the MV88+ lacks IMO is a simple hardware gain control and level light (see the Apogee Mic96). Instead, it relies on the Shure MOTIV software. Fine if you're using the software, but spending the best part of £200, I'd prefer my hardware to be future-proofed against the vagaries of software updates, abandonware and terminated functionality. This reliance is the reason for 4 stars not five. (Apogee could do it - why can't you?) Overall, it's a quality piece of kit. It does what it claims to do, and does it well. Is it the best item in its range, or the best value for the money you spend? I don't know - but I don know that having bought this, I do not feel I've been sold a pup. It feels reassuringly weighty, classy, easy to use and functional. I get a warm feeling using it and would buy it again.

Before this mic I had only ever used the internal mic on my phones to record videos. That hindered the video quality when recording. So far I have to say I'm quite impressed with this Shure mic! Firstly you can tell the materials are high quality as soon as you touch them. They've got a great sturdy feel. It comes with phone and table mounts, as well as cables for USB Type C and Lightning. It's very portable, lightweight, and provides a much better sound quality than your regular phone mic. A definite must have for vloggers or people looking to up the quality of their videos!

I bought this for dual purposes; both to take ?quick? recordings of guitar practice and also to use on hikes to record forest sounds. So far I have been very happy with both the quality of the recordings and the construction of the microphone. The slip on holder is tighter than any I have ever used; I have not taken it off since putting it on, because it is too tight a grip. This is not too big a problem to me though. The small tripod is fairly solid, and works well. As does the phone holder, which is functional, but definitely built to a low price. The software is also quite usable. My only complaint is that trying to get a longer cable is difficult. I have tried several adaptors, and finally had success by using the included Shure cable and plugging an extension ... It's so perfect for me to record my 15 yr old son playing his piano and daughters vlogging. Shure App's intuitive software and Presets uptodate. So simple. It's built like an American Tank. I bought this kit to make recordings of my singing students. It has been a game changer for pre-screenings and singing recordings! I love that I'll be able to use it on any phone, and the headphone jack lets me know immediately how the sound balance is. I love the app too and all the settings I can play with.
