I did a direct comparson of the Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 against my Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 and my Tokina 11-16 f/2.8. All shots were performed on my Nikon D7500.I shot real world and did not use a lens chart template. The Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 was equal to or bested each of these lenses. I judged optical clarity (even the corners of the frame) including color and contrast.From reviews, I was sceptical of the capability of the Sigma 10-20, but after testing, it is definitely going to find a permanant place in my Nikon camera bag.p.s. the photo was only cropped and lightened. No other editing. I think optical sharpness is fantastic.

I've been a professional photographer for 55 years - during this time I've been privileged to use some of the best equipment created. I bought this Sigma 10-20mm lens to give me greater flexibility with landscape photography. The build quality is exceptional. the resolution of the lens is superb - and the results are stunning. I intend using it for astrophotography later this month with my Nikon D300 - and expect good results. A versatile lens that enables you to control distortion when used carefully - I've even used it at the 20mm end for portraits - and it performs perfectly. At this price point, it's a superb deal - and if you're looking for a wide angle lens (works out at 15mm-30mm on my Nikon D300) I can highly recommend this Sigma.

Just wanted to replace my old version (4-5.6) with the newer one before it discontinued. Also my old one has a very soft left side (not uncommon for wide angle lenses). I pulled the trigger on this one and I am satisfied with the purchase.This version (3.5) has a bit softer corners, especially when aperture is wide open, but comparable with my old lens. If you close it to 7.1-8 - it is sharp. This lens has a slightly softer right bottom corner, but it's acceptable. Much better than my old lens.I would recommend this lens if you need wide angle and not a pixel peeler. It is good lens and great landscaping photography or architectural.Will use it to take pictures of houses for sale too.

I needed a wider lens and when I saw this on a one day sale I jumped on it. I have other Sigma lenses and am happy with them. I have three Nikon cameras that I would use it on. I checked it out on two of them, a D200 and D810. I set it everywhere between 10 & 20 mm and had it focus on subjects between 10 inches and infinity. I was very happy with the results and surprised with how well it worked close up. I chose the Sigma over the Nikon lens that was only $6 or $7 dollars more, because the Sigma has a metal mount where as the Nikon's mount is plastic. So yes, I'm really happy with this lens and would definitely recommend it.
Great lens. A 10mm zoom aps-c lens is a rare find. Therefore it’s few problems can be excused and worked around.It is sharp, especially at f5.6, f8, and f11. It is very acceptable at f3.5 and f4. It has some strange wavy distortions near the edges at the wider focal lengths of the zoom. It is not noticeable in an outdoors natural setting. With a straight line pattern near the edges, it is. Vignetting at the wider apertures is noticeable.I like that this lens allows manual focusing touch-up after the autofocus has been engaged without moving the AF/MF switch back and forth.My main complaint is that it is hard to turn the adjustment ring on a polarizer or graduated ND filter with the hood attached.When using an ultrawide lens there are lessons that need to be ... MoreGreat lens. I purchased this lens for nature & landscape photography. I can say with this focal length I won't miss any photos anymore. I shoot with Nikon D810 for professional work and a D1500 for personal fun work. I've now shot with this lens on my D810 DX format and the images are sharp, clean, clear and beautiful with the full dynamic range available. With the D1500 the images have the same results! It is also quite light to handle. In addition, I can now hand hold either camera with this lens because of the f3.5. even on overcast days. When I photograph in evening light or in shade I can increase the ISO and stop down to f11 for greater depth of field hand held giving me very good images. Color is just super, focusing smooth. This lens is probably the worst lens I have ever had. Actually, I don't have it any more because I returned it. The only way to get somewhat in focus pictures was to use live view on my Nikon D5200. Absolutely could not focus correctly using auto focus and the viewfinder. The reviews are correct, it is soft in the corners. It does one thing quite good however and that is it's pretty good at macros. That was the only time it was sharp. Not enough to make me want to keep it. It looks nice, has a good solid feel to it. The zoom ring is great and the focus ring is kind of hard but not too much, but for whatever reason it wouldn't focus consistently on my camera. It might be great on your camera, I don't know. Try it out and return it if it's not.
Great lens. Like new condition. Really, really wide, so get up to speed on using a lens with such a wide angle so your images wont be flat. Mine came with a petal lens shade which I did not expect. Focus and zoom lens very smooth. Could not be happier! Next I will need to take a series of images to determine the sweet spot in the aperture range to get optimal sharpness, as should be done with any lens.
