I have never been disappointed with any Sigma lens I have used and this 10-20mm f3.5 is no exception. Images are very sharp, and the focus is fast and very smooth. I am. Very satisfied as I knew I would be.

Very nice up-grade from Sigma's original 10-20mm ( which was a variable aperture, this one is a constant aperture lens ). This lens being one of Sigma's EX versions, lens is built to easily compete with any other lens in its class, even from "the big two" at a considerable savings. Saw an article in Popular that proved this point. If you need a wide angle for your APS-C sensor digital camera , definitely check this lens out. Images are beautiful. With this lens and a 18-270 or 18-300 or 18-400 you get coverage from 15mm (super wide angle) to 600mm ( super telephoto ) with just two lenses. Simply amazing !!!!!

I've been a professional photographer for 55 years - during this time I've been privileged to use some of the best equipment created. I bought this Sigma 10-20mm lens to give me greater flexibility with landscape photography. The build quality is exceptional. the resolution of the lens is superb - and the results are stunning. I intend using it for astrophotography later this month with my Nikon D300 - and expect good results. A versatile lens that enables you to control distortion when used carefully - I've even used it at the 20mm end for portraits - and it performs perfectly. At this price point, it's a superb deal - and if you're looking for a wide angle lens (works out at 15mm-30mm on my Nikon D300) I can highly recommend this Sigma.

Even though I was considering the Pentax 15mm limited, mostly for it’s light weight and portability, I chose to buy the 10-20mm. I was not disappointed. It’s much heavier and larger than I expected, so the 15 may still be in my future when I want to travel more compactly, but this lens gives me the range I wished for. Automatic focus has been fast and accurate. While I’ve only played with the manual focus option so far, the ease in which it works is greatly appreciated. It leaves no guesswork, letting you know when focus has been achieved.
Excellent lens!! Keep in mind I am reviewing the better F/3.5 and not the F/4-5.6 lens which, from what I researched, is not supposed to be quite as good... It's perfect for tight places and close up shots where you need to get in as much area as possible. I use it to put together interior shots for real estate listings. It makes the room look bigger! There is a very slight distortion towards the outer edges if focused all the way out to 10mm or close to it, but goes away if the focus is brought in closer to the middle of 14mm or so. IT'S NOT A DEAL BREAKER AT ALL and actually it's a very good picture for how wide the lens will go. The only pet peeve I have, and it's nothing that cannot be overcome easily, is that the lens is bigger in diameter (82mm) than the ... MoreExcellent lens!! IT'S NOT A DEAL BREAKER AT ALL and actually it's a very good picture for how wide the lens will go. The only pet peeve I have, and it's nothing that cannot be overcome easily, is that the lens is bigger in diameter (82mm) than the standard 58mm that normally comes with a Canon EOS rebel, and it focuses in soo close that when doing a shot that needs flash, the lens actually creates a shadow in the shot. I solved this by adding the additional flash as a slave, but hung it underneath and towards the front of the lens so it would light up the bottom of the shot. The camera's built in flash has to be used for the added flash to work in slave mode and the built in flash takes care of the top area of the shot. Beautiful photo's!!!
I do a lot of hiking, and when I come upon an impressive view I want to get a sense of that with a photo, but the normal sort of 28mm and up lens doesn't convey what I want, so I thought I'd like a WA. There are lots of choices obviously, but I didn't want to spend a fortune on a lens that is after all a pretty specialized product. Read reviews ( obsessively ) and arrived at the Sigma. Adorama got it to me in a couple of days, very good customer service help on the phone, quite painless. The lens arrived adequately packed in good condition. I'm just beginning to learn what the lens can and cannot do, but so far I am pleased. Complaints of softness are perhaps a little exaggerated, but there is some peripheral softness which is less the closer you get to F8 and not ... MoreI do a lot of hiking, and when I come upon an impressive view I want to get a sense of that with a photo, but the normal sort of 28mm and up lens doesn't convey what I want, so I thought I'd like a WA. Complaints of softness are perhaps a little exaggerated, but there is some peripheral softness which is less the closer you get to F8 and not pegged at !0mm, acceptable for my purposes which is the best nature photography I can manage. I have not tried a long night exposure yet, which was part of the reason I got it so early days but I'm satisfied so far and recommend the lens to other enthusiasts.
Good Points: Feels sturdy and well-built in the handMount is metal, focus and zoom rings are smooth and preciseIncluded petal hood is useful, and the included nylon pouch is high-quality, cushioned, and protects the lens wellConstant aperture of f/3.5 through the entire zoom range is useful for lower-light shooting3-year warranty when registered with Sigma makes this lens absolutely worth the price when compared to Nikon's own versionImprovement Points: The lens is quite heavy which might be a problem for some people (although I personally prefer the weight and feel of a Sigma lens)Although image quality is very good, I do find it to be softer than some of my other lenses, even when stopped down to f/8 (but this is to be expected from a wide-angle lens)
Great lens. Like new condition. Really, really wide, so get up to speed on using a lens with such a wide angle so your images wont be flat. Mine came with a petal lens shade which I did not expect. Focus and zoom lens very smooth. Could not be happier! Next I will need to take a series of images to determine the sweet spot in the aperture range to get optimal sharpness, as should be done with any lens.
I was looking for a wide lens for a while now - I tried one from another brand in the past and I really liked the effect. When I saw the offer on this Sigma, and after reading the reviews here, it was a no brainer. I am a hobbyist photographer, who loves landscapes and astrophotography (first steps) I couldn't be happier. It works well with my Canon, it focuses quickly and the images are sharp. Both the focus and distance rings feel solid when in manual mode, which is good because I hate the feeling that I grazed the lens and moved something out of place. The bag that comes with is solid and sturdy, it also has a petal ring (is that the right name for it?) but I haven't found a use for it yet. great deal for ($). all ultra-wide lens have barrel distortion. tested my sigma 10-20 exdchsm f3.5 with d3300 nikon dslr. for my daily pics, i'm always set at 18mm and rarely at 35 or 50mm for portraits. so the sigma is my new lens when before it was 18-55mm kit lens. though it weighs at 520g compared to 205g for the 18-55 kit lens, it focused fast and sharp. the sigma stayed at f3.5 when set to aperture priority and only changed when set to program mode. the barrel distortion is not much noticeable and the same for chromatic aberrations when panoramic coz there are no straight lines in the horizon. more obvious for buildings and anything straight and vertical and too colorful. will pic the grid/checkboard pattern to measure distortion. widest at 10mm and narrowest ... Moregreat deal for ($). all ultra-wide lens have barrel distortion. tested my sigma 10-20 exdchsm f3.5 with d3300 nikon dslr. for my daily pics, i'm always set at 18mm and rarely at 35 or 50mm for portraits. so the sigma is my new lens when before it was 18-55mm kit lens. though it weighs at 520g compared to 205g for the 18-55 kit lens, it focused fast and sharp. the sigma stayed at f3.5 when set to aperture priority and only changed when set to program mode. the barrel distortion is not much noticeable and the same for chromatic aberrations when panoramic coz there are no straight lines in the horizon. more obvious for buildings and anything straight and vertical and too colorful. will pic the grid/checkboard pattern to measure distortion. widest at 10mm and narrowest at 20mm. playing with it! fyi
