Both sample shots were taken at 600mm no action shots due to privacy concerns however, they were very sharp as well. The lens produces a nice bokeh quality of out-of-focus blurI used this lens the Canon version, model ...54 the Nikon version is ...55 with a Metabones adapter connected to a Sony A7RIII. The AF worked intermittently--which is not the fault of either the lens or the camera no one promised that this kludge would work--so my focus is primarily on the image quality. When the AF worked, it worked fast and accurately AF would stop working, which required turning the camera off then on to regain AF.I had very few misses, and most of the shots were sharp. I tested its IQ against my Nikon 200-500mm--I have a very sharp version of that lens. I believe the AF is faster than the Nikon but did not directly compare the two.I shot a Zombie Run, mostly action shots, and took over 2000 pictures. Images were sharp and well saturated I really like the colors at every focal length. At 600mm, there was noticeably more detail with the Sigma.I could not say the same when I tested the Sigma 150-600mm Sport against the Nikon. At normal size, you probably wouldnt notice the difference, but the additional magnification would be invaluable if you need to crop substantially. The downside is that the Sigma is bigger and heavier than the Nikon, which is a big and heavy lens in its own right. The Sigma is fatiguing if you need to hold it in shooting position for long many will prefer to use the lens with a tripod/monopod.However, it is smaller than the Sigma 150-600mm Sport and balances better.Overall, this lens is a tremendous accomplishment by Sigma. If Sigma doesnt produce a version in Sony E-mount, I am considering buying it in Nikon mount and getting rid of my Nikon 200-500mm.The new Sigma is just that good.In sum, I do not recommend using the new Sigma Bigma with an adapter for Sony E-mount. However, for Canon and Nikon, the Bigma is undoubtedly.

Pros: I used this on safari in Botswana and it was the perfect lens or this trip. Great for taking photos of small birds and larger animals at a distance. The image quality was excellent and exceeded my expectations. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product.Cons: It is a heavy lens but this is the only downside. It is more than a fair trade off when considering the positives.

No, it isn't the ultra professional lens, but it was what I could afford. I am fairly new to photography, but what I am learning is the lens quality is important and this lens provides that. I am getting sharp pictures doubling my 18-300mm Nikkor lens. The teleconverter is a plus, too, but I am finding it not particularly necessary. I am still learning the lens and I need more time to evaluate going with or without the teleconverter. But so far either way I am getting quality photos.

The lens arrived on time and as advertised. The accessories that were supposed to be included in the bundle did not arrive with the lens. I contacted Walmart Customer Service and they found that the seller had shipped the accessories in a separate shipment. I finally got all the pieces. The bundle included a monopod with quick release. The monopod I received has a 1/4" screw fitting. The Sigma 150-600mm lens requires a 3/8" fitting to connect with the monopod. So, I cannot use the monopod without purchasing an extra bushing to screw onto the 1/4" fitting. The Sigma lens is also heavy. The monopod had no paperwork with it to indicate the load rating. Looking at the monopod, it does not appear to be able to support this lens and a camera. I do not understand why ... MoreThe lens arrived on time and as advertised. I bought this lens primarily to increase my zoom capacity for bird photography, and it has not disappointed! As a slight con, there is a bit of searching for focus over 550mm, particularly with small distant objects in fast motion. But the detail the lens is able to capture more than overcomes this! The lens arrived in pristine condition, with all accessories listed. Ive only had it a couple of weeks, but it has improved my photo quality significantly.
I?m using this with an EF to RF adapter on an R6 now.It works great; look at reviews online for details; my experiences are in line with all the others. The stabilization is pretty incredible; it?s more the weight that keeps me from doing a lot of handhold shots vs wobble. One negative is the tripod foot. It?s too small; on gimbals and such the lens can feel unbalanced. Using the EF-RF adapter either adds to that or helps depending on focal length and camera. There are other feet out there. But I just attached a long Arca-compatible rail. To keep it from swiveling on the foot (which, in another negative, doesn?t have a pin, etc to prevent this) I attached a very small Arca plate into the long plate with a tripod screw and ¼ hex nut, and snugged up against the ... MoreI?m using this with an EF to RF adapter on an R6 now.It works great; look at reviews online for details; my experiences are in line with all the others. I have had the Sigma 150-600mm Sport for about 2 weeks. I have only gotten to shoot with it 2 days and did a couple shots of the moon at night.I like to shoot birds in flight and a lot of water foul. The lens seems to focus fast and smooth. I was able to track and follow birds easily keeping them in focus in servo mode. I even got a few good shots of Belted Kigngfishers in flight, they are little speed demons. The last day out a Bald Eagle showed up to finish the day and I was able to get some decent shots of him.The shots I did of the moon were nice and crispy. The lens is very heavy, I almost always shoot with a Gimbal. I was able to focus and track on a vulture circling at about 100 yards.I don't think I would ever use the extender for birds in flight but I think it would do well for large wildlife. So far I am very happy with the lens and I am looking forward to shooting with it some more in the near future.
So far really enjoying the added reach of this lens. My prior telephoto was a Canon 100-400 push-pull. I really hated the push-pull and had to pay too much to get the lock ring replaced after 7 or 8 years of use. I like the Sigma's lock button a lot more. I have noticed, however, that the AF button gets jostled going in and out of my bag, which is annoying. Gives me a second's pause when AF isn't working because my subject isn't in the range of that setting. I'm still getting used to the lens (it's long and a little heavy), but so far really like the image results. My only other concern is the waterproofing. So far I've only let it get a little wet (Contemporary makes no promises of water resistance), but at half the cost of the Sport version, if anything happens I ... MoreSo far really enjoying the added reach of this lens. I'm very new to photograpy so can't comment too much from a technical point of view so I'll let one of my photos speak for itself. I have this on a Nikon D750 and the photo quality is superb. It's very easy to setup and use but if you get stuck there are many great YouTube videos to refer to for guidance. It does have a little "hop" on occasion while focusing but I knew about this already. As it's minor and occasional I can work around it, especially as the Nikkor lens of the same zoom length is over 10x as expensive.Other reviews mentioned its limitations regarding low light due to the aperture range. Again, I've managed to work around this and got fabulous photos. Some comments I read mentioned a "plasticky feel" to it. I can't say I got that impression. Again, I've managed to work around this and got fabulous photos. Some comments I read mentioned a "plasticky feel" to it. I can't say I got that impression. For the money, it feels perfectly acceptable.I also have the Manfrotto Advanced 2 Befree backpack and it just about fits into that which is great. As for the teleconverter kit......I'm not sure how much I'll use it. I've only tried it once so far and it felt like the image was bobbing around a little more. Also, once on, it's hard to get off as it sticks like glue to the lens so, you take the lens off and the teleconverter wants to come too. But, you have to remove them individually otherwise, once off, the converter cannot be removed from the lens. Again, this could be a learning curve on my behalf.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for a max 600mm in this price range.
The Sigma 150-300mm lens I purchased for my canon 40D camera was a fantastic addition to my gear, plus I received a user friendly tripod free. The lens works great and has improved my photos by getting me closer to my wildlife subjects without disturbing them. The tripod has a ball head which makes it easy to move quickly or can be locked onto a subject. Light weight enough that it?s now always with me. The lens is very reasonably priced, excellent quality purchase, fantastic addition to my gear. I would definitely recommend this lens for anyone looking to get closer to their subject. Great quality purchase.
