Amazing lens. I was able to use this lens for a wedding 90% of the time. It’s sharp all the way open at F1.4. Only issue I had was the AF speed but I really think that’s just due to my Panasonic S1. Panasonic makes amazing cameras but their AF isn’t something to depend on. The AF performance is similar to my converted Canon EF lens from the Sigma mount. I was hoping to get more speed since this was native, but the way this is built, is basically like a converter with the extended design. It’s not a true lens built ground up for L mount mirrorless. If you already have an EF version with the Sigma adapter, just stick to that. If you’re thinking to get native L mount for the continuous AF performance, don’t bother if you have the S1 camera. I bought the lens new, traded in my 24/2 Sigma Contemporary.- lines stay straight- good resolution and bokeh- rendering is similar to other DG DN lenses like 35&85/1.4Bad:- 72mm filter size. Why not 77mm? Would not have been a big step up a this point.- Giant hood.I will link a few sample photos here from yesterday.

Very sharp and very great lens! Sigma has already fixed the dust issue. My S/N starts with 564XXXXX and it has perfect dust resistance. The Sales Thomas made my purchasing experience extremely smooth and I am very pleased with it. The Hoya CPL and UV are also perfect matches for the lens and they won't harm your image quality.

I recently purchased this lens to be used on my A7 III for a vacation. 24-70mm is a great range for general use on full frame and the f2.8 aperture gives great control over depth of field and low light performance. Mild vignetting wide open and slightly soft on the edges but stopped down both are eliminated. Zero issues with AF speed and the AFL button is a wonderful addition for adding a custom setting to swap between FF and crop modes when you need a bit of extra reach in camera and are okay with the loss of resolution.Overall, fantastic lens for the price and I don?t feel I?m missing out on any performance compared to the more expensive Sony alternative.
I just got my Sigma art 24-70mm f/2.8 lens in a tested it out. I was very impressed with the quality of it.. basically brand new. I believe it was a factory refurbished model, but damn it's clean. Very nice build quality, pretty heavy, and produces a clean image. I'd have to say it's to be expected for this price range of lens. It's much better than the Rokinon lenses I have. Chromatic abortions around the highlights are looking way cleaner, I love having some zoom flexibility, and the constant aperture is perfect for my needs. I shoot a lot of video and usually resort to manual focus, but sometimes I take photos and need that autofocus to make the job easier (and to compete in the market). I am working with a Lumix gh5 with a metabones speedbooster, so the autofocus is not super quick or deadly accurate but it beats no auto focus at all. I'm confident I will be able to capture almost anything except sports or anything with quick movement. Pop this baby on a native EF body and it will most likely boost it's AF performance. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase. OIS is hella smooth, the mount fit is snug, and the image is clean. Definitely a game changer.
I like it so much I had to keep it! Was never a fan of the 24mm FL, but this definitely changed my mind and became my favorite wide angle prime! Great colors, contrast, rendering, sharpness, love the size and superb built quality of these Sigma dg dn primes (currently also have the new 50 and 85mm dg dn). Looking forward to do some astrophotography!
Just received the lens so no time for full evaluation. I have had the HSM 20mm for Canon and have used on Sont A7r4 with Metabones adapter. I have enjoyed the HSM lens for use in low light but used sparingly due to weight and fear of damaging front element during casual use. I bought the DG,DN lens because I figured I would get to use it more often but did not consider the improvement in photo IQ or video performance. I saw a couple of reviews comparing Sony 1.8 stating the Sony was a little sharper and I was not expecting a large increase in the IQ over old HSM. I think I was wrong. So far with only about 100 test images, this lens appears to be a definite improvement over the HSM. New Lens also much better for video since no adapter needed. Very fast, accurate ... Very fast, accurate focusing improves IQ as well. Very impressed. Very happy so far. Plan to use new lens a lot especially in low light. Kudos to B&H for super-fast delivery!!
This is a pro level lens. For what this lens cost and for the potential money that can be made with its IQ, they are practically free. In other words it can pay for itself very very quickly if your a full time pro shooting for a living. You could buy two of these for the price of one and double your shoot with a second shooter or b-roll. Seriously i dont get why its half the cost of Nikon f mount lenses when these sigma art lens outshoot them. They are heavier, built better, solid metal and the glass leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Quick focus, superb IQ, weather sealed. I hope sigma will come out with Z mount lenses, because if they do I expect They will outperform the highly touted Z glass Nikon makes at half the cost.
Up until I got this, every lens I had was a Sony: 20 1.8 G; 90 macro; 16-35 GM; 200-600 G; 600mm f4 GM. This lens is sharper than the 16-35 GM and has a more useful range for me. For about the price of the 16-35gm, you can have both the Sigma 14-24 Art and 24-70 Art and get sharpness comparable or better than Sony and a wider range. Fit and finish of the Sigma lens is great - super solid feel, smooth focus and zoom rings, cosmetically classy, and complete compatibility with the A7RV and A7IV. Definitely worth serious consideration.
This is a Sigma "Art" lens, as opposed to one in the company's lower-end, cheaper "Contemporary" series. The difference between the Art lenses and the regular lenses is obvious after only a few photographs. I am a professional artist and photographer, and I already own the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art lens, so this 20-70mm f/2.8 is the complement in what will eventually be the "holy trinity," which include the 70-200mm f/2.8 Art lens. Once you have these lenses, you won't want to go back to ordinary lenses. Images have that special "something" that spoils the discerning professional or advanced amateur. I have included two of my digital artworks that began with photographs using the Sigma 20-70mm Art lens. They're worth the extra cost because they are, after all, really an ...
