I sold my 24-70mm GM for this and am more than happy with my lens choice. The images from this lens is sharp. The focus motor is fast & silent. And losing 4mm on the wide end is not a problem, especially since you now have the reach of 105mm at f/2.8.

Versatile focal range.Quality build.Superb clarity and image quality.
Optically very good, ergonomics are decent. First Sigma lens so the zoom takes some getting used to (opposite direction compared to other zooms). As like other still lenses in this class, it is not hyperfocal. Oddly, in manual focus mode it will *mostly* hold focus on an object when zooming in and out -- not the case in auto mode. Also, lens hood is tight to the barrel, which makes it difficult to adjust a vari ND without smudging the filter. Generic hood with wider front solves this.Using on a S5IIx for video -- haven't tested photo yet but for that I'll use my Leica 24-90.
Used the Sony 24-105 f4 for over a year but yearned for that creamy bokeh of f2.8 and the extra Stop of light when shooting in doors, finally sigma came through and delivered! Wish it had stabilization, and internal zoom like the Canon but understand that lens is double the price of this one. Love it, will be my main all around lens.
