Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens For L-Mount
Sigma 35mm f1.4 - A premium prime lens This solidly constructed prime lens from Sigma will be just as at home on a full-frame DSLR as it will on a smaller format APS-C body. On the larger full-frame bodies the wide 35mm focal length will surely be appreciated, a classic length that has traditionally been used by serious photographers for landscape, documentary and photojournalism purposes, plus lots more. A large f1.4 maximum aperture is the real drawcard of this lens, rewarding users with excellent handheld usability and depth of field control. No matter what the subject matter, the Sigma 35mm f1.4 is well-equipped to photograph it beautifully, with you being in the comforting position of shooting with faster shutter speeds, which eliminates camera shake and having the final say over how much of your image is in focus. If you want only your foreground subject to be sharp and detailed, open that wide aperture right up and be prepared to be amazed by your results. Hyper Sonic Motor Moving objects and video shooting are no obstacle for the Sigma 35mm f1.4, thanks to the inclusion of a Hyper Sonic Motor, resulting in fast autofocus. Speed is not the only benefit of this focus motor, it is also smooth and quiet. All of these characteristics gel together to create a very pleasing user experience and more importantly, pleasing final results. Distracting focus sounds will not ruin your home movies and if you are photographing people, they will not become self conscious and guarded by a noisy lens.

It can be a lottery buying third party lenses; you never know if it's going to be fully compatible with your camera until you try it. This lens works perfectly well with my EOS6D, and gives great results for 1/3 the price of Canon's product. Sigma's "Art" series lenses are well made and sturdy. This one comes with a lens hood, a practice Canon would do well to emulate. Image quality is great. Auto focus is fast and accurate, although when wide open the depth of field can be razor thin. I've achieved some great results photographing stage plays in dim, variable light. I'm very pleased with this lens.

I purchased this lens to augment my collection of primes. It was on sale at $150 off for the holiday. That ended my fretting about if I would get the Sony 1.4 GM or the Sigma Art. I had all of the APSC Sigma Primes for my A6000 and I loved them. When I sold the kit I missed them. This lens does everything I want it to do for a semi wide focal length. I really love the lock on the shade. It is well built, bright and makes a great carry around. I also own the Sony 20mm 1.8 g and the Sigma 85 1.4 art. Eventually the Sigma 135 1.8 art will complete my prime lens collection unless I get a hankering for a 50mm. Look out Sony 24 - 105. Fast primes are coming for you!

My son is the photographer but he was told this is the best lens to get hands down for the particular night club and individual people. Not too long after getting the lens he ended up with the job there. His other lens was a real wide aperture I believe this is a wide aperture but just perfect for taking photos of people in a dark atmosphere. This is actually his second lens from them that he uses with his Cannon Mark 6 I believe base. We’ll all I know is he didn’t get the no. Until he got this lens then they gave it to him once they saw the difference in that environment that his photos looked liked. The right equipment goes a long way.

The lens is in the condition as described and seems to be in nearly new condition. Very pleased. After testing it with a LensCal the lens needed zero adjustment. Now comparing it against my Pentax fa 35mm f/2.0 the sharpness of the Sigma is incredible, both lenses used at f/2.0. CA's seem to be well controlled but the weather has been not cooperating, partly cloudy with heavy haze. The DOF at f/1.4 is, naturally, very shallow at close distances. Vignetting is very slight but that may vary with other DSLR's. I was using it on a Pentax K1. Manual focusing is very good. The focus ring is tight making the ability to focus easy. The combination of this lens and the Pentax weighs in at 4# 1.85oz, a beast of a combination but the SR in the Pentax allows me to get sharp ... MoreThe lens is in the condition as described and seems to be in nearly new condition. I was looking for a 35mmf1.4, already owning Sony 20mmf1.8, Sony 24mmf1.4 GM, Samyang 50mmf.1.4 version II, Sigma 85mmf1.4 DN Art for my A7R4. All those lenses are excellent, including the Samyang (although it's eye AF in low light is not as strong as others). Most reviews say Sony 35mmf1.4 GM is better optically than the Sigma, especially regarding longitudinal chromatic aberration. So I bought a used (Condition 10 good as new) Sony 35mm from BHphoto. I was disappointed with its sharpness at f1.4 even with good AF in daylight. So I returned it and bought this Sigma. The Sigma definitely sharp wide open and eye AF is quick and accurate. I couldn't really see any distracting loCA. Bokeh is nice and soft. Definitely a great buy, especially at its current sale price.
I picked this up for a trip to Chile, specifically for working in darker, poorly lit conditions. Before leaving I took a bunch of test shots and noticed it has some serious front-focus issues on my Nikon D850. I ended up making micro adjustments using the AF Fine Tune options on the camera which corrected much of the problems but it still fell short of my NIKKOR lenses. Most shots looked great but after cropping and zooming, were soft, slightly blurred, or inconsistent when compared to my Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR used on the same subjects, light conditions and f-stops.On my travels to Chile, I had a chance to take a few shots with Miss Chile (completely unexpected). The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 performed admirably, in sun and shade, indoors and outdoors, focus was quick and all shots looked great on the camera. However, on my large monitor at home, its focal inconsistencies became apparent. The sharpness presented with the 24-70mm f/2.8E was missing in many shots taken with the sigma. Uncropped, it all looked great, but zoomed in it fell short. Great for mementos, not so much for publishing. If I had more time, I would have tried adjusting the AF Fine Tune further but I just needed it to work. It may be an issue with this specific lens or an issue between the lens and body. Either way, it fell short for my needs.
I have rented from lens rentals many times and always had a great experience. Their customer service is excellent and equipment has always been high quality. However, this time, the lens just would not focus tack sharp as I’m accustomed to with my own lenses. It was only something you would see if you really zoomed in, but that’s important to me. I rented the exact same lens a couple of months ago and it was perfect and sharp. I contacted customer service and they did answer my emails and offered some tips to try, but I just do not feel as if it was my equipment- none of my other lenses had the same issue. It just wasn’t the level of equipment that I’ve come to expect when paying to rent. It just wasn’t the level of equipment that I’ve come to expect when paying to rent. I am very picky about the sharpness of my images and some might not have even noticed the “soft focus” that I found this lens to have. Again, service was professional, the lens was usable, and I recommend lens rentals to others …. However, I only used this lens once for the month that I rented it due to the lesser quality images it produced.
If you're debating over the different brands I'll save you some time and tell you to get this lens. Is it better than the Zeiss branded one?Is it better than the Zeiss branded one? In some ways yes, and in some ways no. However, with the Zeiss branded one having a history for being decentered, I didn't want to risk buying used - and the two I tried at a local camera shop were both noticeably decentered. Is it better than the GM? No, it's not and it shouldn't be. However, it's pretty darn close and I would recommend most people to save the $500 and get this lens. Where it's most noticeable for me is AF tracking in tougher lighting conditions - and the difference is tiny. Otherwise it can hold up to the higher MP of my A7R3a, and it's great when paired with my ... MoreIf you're debating over the different brands I'll save you some time and tell you to get this lens. Where it's most noticeable for me is AF tracking in tougher lighting conditions - and the difference is tiny. Otherwise it can hold up to the higher MP of my A7R3a, and it's great when paired with my A7S3. A friend borrowed it and used it on his A7R4 - and only had good things to say and opted for it over the GM too.Ultimately, I made the decision to go with this one because the GM didn't provide me $500 more performance.
Built like a rock. Metal, not plastic. No image stabilization. Very true to life colors. Not as vibrant or vivid as Canon's RF 50mm L lens, but just as sharp. Focusing also just as fast. Also same are the faint clicking and buzzing noise as it focuses which your camera's mic would probably pick up if you're doing video. Bokeh is there although I'm having a hard time seeing the separations. Maybe I'm just used to Canon's. I can't complain about the image quality, but I fail to see the "art" in this lens. I would not pay $900 for this, but on sale for $750 it's about right.
After checking many reviews and talk to some professionals that have use this lens I decided to purchase it and be my own judge and critic and this are my points of view and personal opinion. The most relevant cons about this lens are: 1. The chromatic aberration is noticeable "But can be fix in post" 2. The weight and size of this lens is a bit more than Sony's. And last. The ghosting the lens have while focusing on photo mode on Sony cameras is Not affecting when you take pictures in a regular fast environment... I mean, i use Sony a7r iv and a7 iv systems and both cameras shoot 9 out of 10 and 10 perfect pictures at variable depth without hosting or delay focusing at all...The price of this little tank is so great that really doesn't make any cense spend ... MoreAfter checking many reviews and talk to some professionals that have use this lens I decided to purchase it and be my own judge and critic and this are my points of view and personal opinion. The most relevant cons about this lens are: 1.
