Overview - Created for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, this Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art Lens features Sigma's first prime lens design with a f/1.2 maximum aperture. Delivering excellent image quality while optimizing size, as well as weight, the lens' fast f/1.2 aperture helps to achieve shallow depth of field as well as extremely selective focus effects and is also suited for working in very difficult lighting conditions. Three low dispersion glass elements and three aspherical elements, including a double-sided element, effectively control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering. - Complementing its imaging capabilities, the lens includes a large Hyper Sonic Motor to produce quick, smooth, and quiet autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override. While the aperture ring's de-click switch can prevent unwanted noise from being recorded while capturing video with sound, the built-in Autofocus-Lock (AFL) button can be assigned additional functions to widen the range of operations available on the lens. Additionally, a rounded 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality. - As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications. - Created for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, this lens features Sigma's first f/1.2 maximum aperture, prime lens design to deliver excellent image quality while optimizing size, as well as weight. It is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides a 53mm equivalent focal length. - Constant f/1.2 maximum aperture is particularly well-suited for working in available light conditions and provides extreme control over depth of field. - Three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements markedly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range for improved clarity and color accuracy. - Three aspherical elements, including a double-sided aspherical lens element, control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering. - Large HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) realizes quick and quiet autofocus. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time. - Manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture switching to benefit video applications. - Built-in Autofocus-Lock (AFL) button which can be assigned additional functions widens the range of operations available on the lens. - Rounded eleven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. - Front lens element has been treated with a water- and oil-repellent coating to benefit working in harsh environmental conditions. - Weather-resistant construction with a brass bayonet that affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity. - Key Features E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format Aperture Range: f/1.2 to f/16 Three Aspherical & Three SLD Elements Hyper Sonic Motor AF System Customizable AFL Button Physical Aperture Ring; De-Click Switch Rounded 11-Blade Diaphragm Weather-Sealed, Protective Front Coating - In the Box Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E Lens Case LH878-02 Lens Hood Sigma LCF-82 III 82mm Lens Cap Sigma Rear Cap LCR II for Sony E Mount Lenses

Honestly I expected more from this lens. First it is extremely heavy for what it is, all of which you might overlook if it performed as one would imagine. That being said the obvious reason one would be attracted to this lens is the f1.2. Honestly the extreme vignetting wide open was so significant that you have to recompose the shot. Next because of the weight you have to hold it mid barrel so using and adjusting aperture with the ring is kinda clumsy. Unless it’s on a tripod and you don’t have to worry about holding the camera. IDK if it was this specific one I had but low light (using it on my a7r3) seamed to be an issue for it. It would hunt and on 3 separate occasions it went on/got stuck focusing back and forth for so long, even after releasing the focus ... MoreHonestly I expected more from this lens. Even my nearly 6yo 24-70 f4 that’s been around the world with me, that i use daily, that’s been through 5 Sony bodies snatches focus faster. There are 2 positive things about this lens. First the colors are fantastic from it. Not sure why but if it’s a brand thing i might become a sigma team member. Second is what seems to be an excellent exterior build quality. Fit and finish very nice. Lens hood way nicer than regular ones. But again if it doesn’t do what you need it to do what’s the point. I will add that I’ve used other prime 35mm with this body and so far my fav has been the Distagon 1.4.

From the good prices to to great service which always goes above and beyond the staff is simply amazing. Recently I missed a buy 1 get1 free week by a day and after I rented the lens I asked if I could take advantage of the special as I mixed up my calendar. Within hours they approved my free week which I ended up not needing. This is par for the course with these great people. I rely on the tech staff as the authority on rating equipment and have always found them to be spot on

Stepped up from my Sigma 35 Art 1.4, which was a fantastic lens. But this lens shines a bit better. I needed more sharpness in edges, and this delivers. Focusing on the A7r IV is fantastic as well. When you shoot for a living, it's imperative to have the best glass available.

The Signa 35mm is a terrible lens for the Sony a7iii. The focus response was very slow. The weight felt double what the Sony Zeiss 35mm feels like. Jus a clunky, slow lens.

Very good lens, but with tradeoffs
4 March 2021

I kept telling myself that the size wouldn't bother me. After all I was just doing an indoor fashion shoot and wouldn't be lugging it around all day. Well, it bothered me. It also didn't grab focus quite as quickly as my native lenses in low light. I really liked having a 35mm that was nice and sharp with really no complaints on IQ... but I'd be just as happy with a smaller 1.4 or even 1.8 in most situations.
