Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports(L Mount)
OverviewThe second full-frame mirrorless zoom lens in the Sigma Sports line, the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens covers a vast 10x range and is well-suited for a wide variety of subjects, including sports, wildlife, portraiture, and fast-moving action. Offered here in a L Mount, this lens features a newly designed HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing motor that provides unprecedented speed and precision while quietly and accurately focusing on the subject in front of you. Additionally, a dual-action zoom design allows both rotary zooming using the zoom ring and straight zooming grasping the end of the lens. This allows for both delicate, intuitive, and quick operation. An updated Optical Stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake and significantly improves image stabilization performance by seven stops at the wide end and six stops at the telephoto end. As part of the Sports line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to offer excellent optical performance, speed, and other customizable features that make it an ideal choice for wildlife, sports, action, and other fast-moving subjects. Wide-ranging super telephoto zoom is designed for full-frame L Mount cameras but is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides a 90-900mm equivalent focal length range. Newly designed HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing motor provides unprecedented high-speed, high-precision, and quiet AF. The HLA also offers high focus following performance for sports photography and other subjects in motion such as cars, planes, or birds in flight, ensuring that the decisive moment is not missed. Updated Optical Stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake and significantly improves image stabilization performance by 7 stops at the wide end and 6 stops at the telephoto end. Three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and two F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy, as well as spherical aberrations for reduced distortion and improved sharpness throughout the zoom range. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions. Front lens element has been treated with a water- and oil-repellent coating to benefit working in harsh environmental conditions. Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. Dual-action zoom design allows both rotary zooming using the zoom ring and straight zooming grasping the end of the lens. This allows for both delicate, intuitive, and quick operation. The lens is constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material, along with traditional metals, for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. The bayonet mount is constructed from brass for ensured accuracy and durability. Tripod collar has a rotating design, and the replaceable foot is Arca-type compatible for easy mounting. Bought the lens to complement my Leica SL90-280 and wow, what a great lens I can say only one week after receiving. Fast AF on the SL2-S.Couldn't be happier, especially at the price point.

Excellent lens for wildlife and portrait - haven't made it to a sports event but excited for it. The autofocus is fast and differentiates between subjects and backgrounds quickly. The lens is sharp and handles well in lowlight. Portraits are sharp and bokeh natural. It's not too big to lug around. You'll love the lens!

The Sigma 60-600m for the Sony EF mount is a fantastic Swiss Army type lens. The lens is very sharp, controls are easy to operate, build quality is rock solid, focus is lighting fast, and the focal range makes it invaluable to have for sports/wild life. If you plan on shooting video with this lens remember it is varifocal. While zooming this lens will not re-acquire focus. As long as you keep that in mind, make your zoom adjustments when action is not taking place, this lens will not let you down. While it is not a fast lens (4.5 at its fastest), most of that can be overcome by the dynamic range of the Sony camera and it is much more affordable than fast aperture telephoto lenses. For me, I had to make the decision to either buy this lens and use one camera body, or, buy another body and use two separate lenses. I made the decision to go for this lens, sacrifice 1 1/3 stops of light at the wide end of the lens, and keep things light and simple with just one camera body. Hope this helps.
Heavy, of course, but you get what you pay for, great images both close and far.
First off, let me say I LOVE the lens, BUT, being part of the geezer brigade I maybe should have paid more attention to the mag reviews of said lens. I met the UPS driver on the street due to my excitement at receiving a new âtoyâ and it took him a bit of time to find the product on the van. When I mentioned âcamera lensâ, he was looking for a smallish to mid-size box, not one the size of a dorm room refrigerator! I signed and he handed me the box which almost dislocated my shoulders from the weight. Didnât think to bring out a hand truck. Oh wellâŠâŠ sadly, I may have to start membership at a gym or court club to âbeefâ up to pack my new lens around. I also failed to read the fine print to see if it came with âtraining wheelsâ! Oh wellâŠâŠ sadly, I may have to start membership at a gym or court club to âbeefâ up to pack my new lens around. I also failed to read the fine print to see if it came with âtraining wheelsâ! On the plus side, the lens cap could be used as a salad plate at the pizza buffet or a nice rain cap in inclement weather. Sun shade comes to mind too. On the down side but by no means a deal breaker, Sigma uses just the opposite rotation for zoom as my Sony and Tamron lenses. Now this may be due to the fact that Sony has always been âout of whackâ from every other camera in the universe for settings, dials etc. Again, being a geezer with no memory it matters naught in the long run. If I am taking pictures of the sunrise, I have to start setting up at around midnight and pray that I am ready by dawns early light. Itâs tough on an old man to take two pictures, take a nap, take two pictures, nap!!! Hopefully the gym workouts will bump me up to three pics before nap time. Many thanks to Pictureline for their wonderful prices and fast shipping on great products.
I film a lot of events where I have to be far away from my subjects, auditorium, weddings, galas, ect. This is now my main lens for this type of jobs. It has great autofocus and stabilizaion and even though I can be all the way in the back I can get really close and track & pan really smooth.
I love this all around lens, a bit heavy but well worth it.
I was able to get test it out with a walk and it is pretty awesome, I got some good shots of birds and this is very versatile because the awesome rang,Now it is big and heavy for sure too.
