I really wanted to love it but it's just not right for my situation. The metal exterior feels sturdy and is constructed of stylish brushed aluminium. The removable interior caddy bin is constructed of a high quality plastic and is proving very easy to keep clean. We got this compost caddy to replace a similarly sized round compost bucket with a handle and completely removable lid that we kept under our kitchen sink. After getting annoyed by constantly pulling the bucket out from under the sink, I decided to look for another option and found this one. It looks good enough that my wife would consider letting me leave it on the counter (which is a big deal!). I usually leave it docked to our larger simplehuman trash can, but it’s very easy to undock and place on the counter when you’re actively cooking. I also love that the lid is attached and stays open if you open it all the way. The only con is getting used to the rectangular shape coming from a round can with a slightly larger opening. I personally used this clip on support to stick it to a wall in my kitchen near my cooker and used the sticky pad to hold it in place, this way when I open the caddy lid it magnetically stays open and attaches to the metal clip support behind the lid, making it a great benefit when wanting the lid to stay open when using it through food prepping and composting large amounts at a go.The pull off top is a brilliant feature, easy to then take out the green compost chamber to empty with the compost bag.Can be used well, with or without the compostable bin liners, it's one's own personal preference.The negatives was I found the overall finish on the production side where the metal overlaps in certain places to be a little rough and more care needed with that finish.The size can be challenging when using a lot of daily compost as it involves more use hence more compost bin liners which could count more expensive in the long run unless you use it without them.

I really like the two-section Simple Human bin I already have. The council supplied food waste bin was a deterrent to use - fiddly, required two hands, and being on the floor made it hard for people with back injuries.The Simple Human caddy in contrast is so easy to use, and somehow so much easier to look after. It's easy to use with one hand, the magnetic that holds itself open / shut as you want, and hooking securely onto the side of the main bin puts it at just the right height.I became immersed in user research and usability testing in my own work a few years ago, and I can really see and appreciate the usability testing that has gone into this. It's clearly not dominated by the cheapest possible manufacturing cost; it's designed to do a job well, first.
