It badly needs a 'slow speed' setting or a more controllable pedal. The pedal lead is also annoyingly short and barely reaches the floor at my work table.Pleased with my trousers I moved on to a pair of jeans. At this point I discovered it is really not a 'heavy duty' machine at all, as it struggled with overlaid seams in 14 oz denim. Thanks to John Lewis the repair was covered under guarantee, the timing had been lost and would not otherwise have been covered. When I asked what had caused the machine to break down the repairers claimed it was my fault! At this point the machine was still only 3 months old. While waiting for the machine to come back I finished my jeans on a 1920's Frister and Rossmann hand-wound machine which handled the job with ease. Which makes me wonder what I bought the Singer for? As I will no longer dare use it for anything "heavy duty". If I had the option I'd send it back and trade in for a Janome which are reputedly better.

Ok, what a terrible time I had with singer. Started out with the M1000. Two machines were faulty right out of the box. Upgraded to the M2100, also did not work right. Then upgraded to this 4432 and it puckered and pulled material, no matter how many settings adjustments I made. I finally went to an actual sewing shop with some of material and they asked me what machine I have. I said the singer 4432, they laughed at me. They said any singer machine built after 1988 ish is not worth 1/4 of the asking price. They sold out and royalty their name to a cheap manufacturer. I have always used vintage singer machines for over 40 years, but my machines just can't cope with some things so I decided to invest in a new singer. I have not been disappointed. This is a fantastic machine and copes with anything I throw at it and does not miss a beat. Ideal for beginners and experienced machinists alike. Easy to follow instructions mean you will be up and running in only about 10 minutes. I must admit I have yet to master the needle threader. The large extension table is also perfect for larger items. I highly recommend this singer 4432 to anyone.

Great machine

This machine has everything you need. You can saw thick materials such as jeans and leather. It has plenty of stitches including stretch stitches for jersey. You can even get a double needle for jersey as it comes with an extra spool spin. The instructions are in English and in German. Nothing in French.Note that the cable is an European one, so you will need an adaptor for Switzerland. It comes with the accessories below (I have included a picture):General Purpose Foot, Zipper Foot, Buttonhole Foot, Button Sewing Foot, Edge/Quilting Guide, Pack of Needles, Bobbins, Spool Caps, Auxiliary Spool Pin, Spool Pin Felt, Screwdriver, Seam Ripper/Lint Brush and Soft Dust Cover

Great machine, great value

Machine is built solid. Light is nice and bright - not sure why some complain it is dark. Very easy to use. Quiet and powerful motor. Easy to use foot pedal. Great videos and tips follow purchase. So many stitch applications - still going through them. Comes with dust cover. Upgraded from a basic sewing machine - Should have just spent the extra money for a quality machine. Basic machine died in less than a year.

Heavy Duty 4432 - Fab machine!
1 September 2022

I spent ages trying to decide which machine I wanted to replace the electric Singer I bought with my 21st Birthday money in 1977!! I sew a lot of different things from new clothes, lots of alterations for the family & interior furnishings. The first thing I made with my new machine was a plasticised cotton cover for it - the one it came with was thin & horrid. The machine coped admirably with the fabric & I have since sewn t-shirt material & velvet, all without mishap. I love that it’s fast but controllable, lighter than my old machine am so far totally delighted with the machine.

Performance and Style 4432

This machine was recommended by a friend who sews everyday. I have sewn for over 50 years and was not interested in a computer type machine. I wanted a basic, inexpensive, easy to operate machine. This Singer 4432 is lightweight but sturdy. It was easy to set up, thread, and wind the bobbin. It only came with basic instructions but the manual was readily available online for download. Manual is essential if you want specific instructions for any of the many stitches and buttonhole that the machine is capable of. Also, the manual is needed for troubleshooting problems, if any. If you are a beginner or experienced, I think you will be pleased with the ease of operation. It also comes with a free online sewing class. It does not come with a case but has a handle attached to the machine which makes it so easy to transport. I like that it has a simple cover with a hole for the handle. It protects the machine from dust when not in use. Overall I appreciate the style and am pleased with the performance of the machine.

Too Light & Noisy
14 October 2022

Not heavy duty during sewing straight stitch the machine can't take the speed it does slightly jumps backwards from the table. Too light for heavy duty and the frame it's light. It can't take the speed.. The machine is noisy!! It's loud. The noise is rough there's nothing smooth about this machine. So disappointed. Ended up using my old Pfaff again which is heavenly smooth machine even though it's very old. Pfaff best machines along with Bernina. Recommend you not waste your money on this Singer machine it's not worth the money.

During the past 2 years I have been making special blackout curtains for my son in law who is involved in a global project to save coral reefs. The material is thick and heavy and I have been using my 50 year old, Jones sewing machine. However, I knew the day would come when I would have to replace it as it was struggling with the task in hand. I have never used a Singer before, but I wanted a machine that could cope with the material I am using. This 4432 is fast, accurate, and quiet and seems to have no problem at all dealing with everything I am throwing at it. Works smoothly
27 November 2022

I bought this some months ago but have only just started using it. It sews very smoothly and evenly, but I have not had to sew anything very thick or bulky yet so will wait to see how it copes with chunky seams. Thankfully I have not yet had to fiddle around with the tension which I was always doing with my old machine. It goes a bit too fast for me, faster than my last sewing machine, and I don't seem to be able to slow it down using the pedal, but I hope I will get used to it. The little plastic cover allows you to see how much thread is left on the spool, but it feels very flimsy. However, I am puzzled by the position of the needle, which is to the left of centre and not in the middle where I would expect it to be. I have not yet checked whether it can be moved.Overall, I like the solid feel of this machine and am hoping it can deal with thicker fabrics than I have used so far.
