This lens looks wonderful. Let's start there. The bokeh is creamy, the squeeze is authentic. I love this lens. It's manual focus, which is fine. The aperture is continuous and smooth. My Canon R7 doesn't recognize it so I had to enable the open shutter without lens option which gave me a scare at first.I've been very happy so far! I'll probably be buying the 75mm next.

There is a YT video there the Sirui is compared to a Sigma 18-35mm zoomed in order to "match". It looks like the anamorphic equivalent of the Sigma! The "h8-as" out there deride the Sigma as being too clinically sharp and whatnot. I personally love the look and many others do as well. But think about it, isn't "being too soft" exactly what most anamorphic lenses are dinged for? So, having about the same sharpness as the Sigma would be a great asset for the Sirui I'd say.I rented this last week but plan to purchase one soon. MFT or L-mount? Decisions, decisions. Oh wait, the MFT is on sale for $349 so how could I pass that one up!!!!

Using it on my newest short film 19 Jump Street, which you can catch on my instagram @Camilo_Mandela Thus far it has been a really fantastic lens, I have a 75mm as well and this is a pretty good step down from that. Of course the Micro four thirds system is a tighter sensor but that's not a mark on the product, this works great. At first I was a little worried about the universality of the gears that seems to be permanently on the lens but it seem to work with my nucleus nano and I imagine any manual focus system. Last thing I will say is the blue color temp if you have any other lenses in the set. It's definitely annoying to white balance every time I wanna use this focal length. other than that, great lens.

Very good lens! The lens flares make it look like something from Netflix with the right lighting! Thanks!
For those of us who shoot on MFT, this is a great anamorphic lens. The 70mm full frame equivalent makes this a great lens for creating a cinematic look in your footage.
I love anamorphics, but sometimes budget doesn't allow for rentals. I turned to the Siruis so I could at least have some anamorphics for those lower budget projects, and honestly I was surprised by the incredible quality. Lenses are sharp and easy to use. Flaring is clean and appropriate. Lens is incredibly easy to use and focus. I've found myself using it on more projects even with a budget so I can have the flexibility to put more in my pocket. 0 complaints here.
I've been re-using my existing photo primes with my video camera, but when I discovered anamorphic I immediately knew that I must have one -- I love that look. So this has been my first dedicated cinema lens -- that is, not something that was originally meant for still photos.Since I don't have other cinema lenses yet, I can't say how this compares to others. But I can definitely say that it's a dramatic difference from photo lenses! The size is impressive, and the adjustment rings are far more useful to me than anything I've used before. I'm looking forward to adding follow-focus.I think the 1.3x ratio is probably just a bit less impressive than the exaggerated effect that I was perhaps hoping for, but nonetheless it still looks great -- especially for the ... MoreI've been re-using my existing photo primes with my video camera, but when I discovered anamorphic I immediately knew that I must have one -- I love that look. As you unwrap the packaging you get a slight hint of that Cinema smell that lets you know it isn't just a lens you can get anywhere but a high quality cine lens. And the joy you get as you open the box and see the massive glass element. The packaging is amazing on this lens i had no worries about it being damaged or broke. The mount is tight and smooth, the focus ring and Iris ring is very tactile and buttery smooth. The overall quality is outstanding and the image you get from this lens can make even the worst shot look decent! Now i do have to grips about the lens but are by far not a big problem. The first is it being only a 1.33 anamorphic when you desqueeze the image the black bars are just not enough you still have to add a little more to them in post. My second one is that the image from the lens comes out a little on the warm side, i shoot in Log so this isn't a problem just something to be aware of.
Although I had done my fair share of research on this lens, I was still hesitant before purchasing it.As a student, this was not something I could purchase "just for fun" and I needed a solid lens that would give me the look I was going for in as many shoots possible. The Sirui 35mm did not disappoint! I was so excited to test it out , which I did in broad daylight and night - and it gave me exactly what I was looking for , sharp and cinematic image with beautiful anamorphic flares. I just note, it's a bit heavy for my Sony a6400 but I can't complain. If you don't own a full frame sensor camera and still aim for that cinematic look, I highly recommend. 35mm- not too wide and not too tight. Perfect.
I rented the MFT version of it for a wedding over the weekend to try it out. There is a comparison video out there where the guy does the showdown between this lens and the well-known Sigma 18-35mm zoomed to 35mm in order to match.Simply put, this lens looks like a prime/anamorphic version of the Sigma! Some people are h8-as when it comes to the Sigma saying it's too sharp. I personally love it but....whatever. The Sirui closely matches that sharpness and since anamorphics typically get dinged for being too soft, this one ROCKS!I will be getting one. Now...MFT or L-mount? MFT is on sale now for $349 and that is difficult to beat!
