5 stars for the apple, 3 for the others

I've been a casual runner for many years, but decided to start training for ultramarathons about 8 months ago. In this training, I'm trying to focus on fueling during the longer runs. The Apple SIS Go Isotonic Energy Gels has been one of my favorite ways to fuel in this training cycle. I love the texture and consistency! The packet is hard to open, but once it's opened, the gel goes down smoothly. I've tried a few flavors, but apple is by far my favorite. Cherry gave me chills it was so bad and I had to force myself to eat it. Tutti fruitti isn't horrible, but it's also not wonderful. I don't do citrus do to allergies. Highly recommend giving it a try because the texture and consistency is so much better than other brands, and they really make me feel amazing!

As a long distance runner I have had to go through the trial and error of energy gels, hydration salts and many other products. In particular, I’m very picky with flavored products, especially with gels which tend to be very sweet and thick. In my opinion, while SIS gels may be larger in comparison to other brands, they are the ones that are easier to pass, don’t contain sugar added (it’s the same grams of carb) and come in multiple flavors. They are also good with my stomach as very sugary ones tend to give me cramps.Overall my favorite so far. Only downside is that they are hard to find in store. Also, added electrolyte versions of this gel are not always available online when you need them for longer distances.

SIS has the best gels in the market in my opinion. Especially if you tend to do longer workouts that require you to consume several gels. Here's why: SIS gels don't need to be consumed with water!! They have a mild taste, don't feel too sweet and are fairly priced. The caffeinated version (75mg) is just what I need to get a second life during long runs or rides. I like the orange or lime flavors which are even more mild. Does it taste fantastic? No! But that's not what gels are for. When you are doing endurance triathlons or century bike rides, SIS is the only way to go, when you have to consume a gel every 30 min. The logistics of having to carry enough water to be able to consume the other brands of gels is not a good strategy.

Complete game changer
7 July 2024

I was getting dropped on group rides after 20 or so miles because I wasn’t fueling properly. I had tried other gels but was unable to get them down because dry mouth and fudge textures don’t mix well with me. I was using sweet drink mixes in my water to try to keep my sugar up, but it wasn’t helping. One of my riding buddies insisted I take one of these as I was bonking so badly, I couldn’t make it up the last hill on our ride. Within 3 mins, I was almost brand new. I couldn’t believe the difference in how I felt. I was so surprised at how palatable and great tasting these were. Not syrupy, like a mild sweetness. Needless to say, I’m stocked up! What a game changer. Thanks from me (and my riding buddies lol).

Don’t get the box of 30 Tutti Frutti
20 May 2024

I have been ordering boxes of 6 of the tutti frutti for a while now and it’s my favorite flavor of SiS gels. It’s light and refreshing especially during longer rides. I got the box of 30 because I go through so many of them. Quickly after eating a few I am sure this box is expired or I am just unlucky. The consistency is “cloudy” almost clumpy when swallowing and the flavor isn’t as good as the smaller batches. Kind of disappointed in the quality of this box but I guess I’ll have to buy the smaller boxes instead. I’m just left with 20 gels that are still usable but are in no way near the quality of previous orders.

Effective and Easy to Consume
8 February 2024

I dislike many of the standard energy gel brands like Gu and Clif due to the viscosity of the gel and how much water I had to chug to wash it down. SiS gels are closer in viscosity to watery semi-formed jello, and I find them much more palatable. I've tried a wide range of their flavors (Pineapple, Cherry, Apple, Watermelon) and have found them all to be tasty. It does seem that SiS has stopped making electrolye gels - if you can find them, Raspberry flavor is great. Their Double Espresso caffeinated gels are also tasty but the caffeine content is too high for my system at a whopping 150 mg.

High Quality Gels, fast delivery, but don't gel with me ;-)
11 April 2024

I wanted to try SiS gels, as I wanted to support a brand still producing in England; and to try another brand, against my usual gel. The SiS gels are clearly high quality, nicely packaged, delivery was very quick - arriving the day after I placed my order. Whilst I wanted to like the SiS product, I did find that I developed a similar sensation to that which I develop when I consume some brands of dilute fruit drinks -- not a headache as such, but an unpleasant sensation; I suspect I have a reaction to one of the ingredients. Which is a shame, as I would have liked to move onto SiS permanently, but alas not for me. I won't say I don't recommend, as if your own body 'gets on with' the ingredients, you'll doubtless be fine, but I might suggest people get a small pack ... MoreI wanted to try SiS gels, as I wanted to support a brand still producing in England; and to try another brand, against my usual gel. In summary then - a very good option, if your 'constitution' doesn't expose you to the niggles outlined above.

Love the gels, the pineapple was just ok
20 August 2023

First off, I just discovered these gels and I love them. I got a box of the pineapple for 2 reasons, I love pineapple (yes even on pizza) and the box was on sale. I was a bit disappointed in the flavor, it's pretty weak, almost nonexistent which can be good and bad depending of if you just want to get the calories. I didn't hate it though and I will have no problem finishing the box. But what can't be denied is how good they are and how well they work. They are more on the watery side, which I like. Gu's like a lot of other gels are thick and sometimes that's what you want and need. These go down super fast, it's almost like taking a drink, and because of that, it's also easier to make sure you get it all out of the package, so you get every last carb. Surprising
18 October 2023

...lots of reasons to like this product. I'm not sure if there are similar modified gels out there. But this really makes gel use pleasant and easy.Though not a replacement for real food, gels really work when needed. This gel isn't as sticky, it has a good mouth feel and isn't overly sweet. Yet it's the same as conventional gels.I like being able to have one and not need to rinse the "cake frosting" from my mouth immediately.Definitely drink water often, this is no substitute. But neither is it necessary. Two thumbs up from me, I'm sold!

The best gels!
24 January 2024

I discovered these at the NYC Marathon as they were the featured on-course gel. Took a chance at mile 22 and tried these for the first time (I was close to bonking). Not only did they taste great, they were significantly easier on my stomach than my GU gels. They are more liquid consistency, so you can take them without water. They have become a staple in my nutrition. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn't care for thick, syrup-y gels. The only negative is that they are kinda bulky in size compared to other gels. But still, I cannot recommend these enough! Thank you to the Feed for keeping me in stock!
