Appealing in concept, disappointing in application

I bought my grip strength trainer in September 2019. Within about a week that I began using it, at a low resistance, the cap on the knob fell off. This was not particularly bothersome, because the function of the trainer was not impaired by its absence. In the last few weeks, the rubber on the grips began to erode substantially, leaving small black flecks on my hands after use, which interfered with my normal use (as a fidgeting implement at work). This afternoon, the spring snapped near the top while I was working with it. This happened safely, but with a failed spring it is now quite useless outside of as an oddly shaped paperweight.

I bought this after Christmas and I have used it for three weeks. Just squeezed while on calls in the work from home environment. Spring broke at the connection point to the tension arm. Definitely low quality.

Great Adjustment

I appreciate the varying adjustments which set this apart from other similar products. It is nice to be able to raise it some days, and lower others. The grip itself is comfortable for repeated use and the construction seems to be of a quality that will hold up over time.My only complaint is that the price seems a bit high compared to similar products

Grip trainer is good
11 May 2022

The products shipped nice and quickly from within New Zealand which was great and arrived in a few days. My only minor gripes are it feels a little bit small in my hands and almost immediately the printed indicator and logo on the side have started rubbing off. Otherwise, I am using at everyday with no problems and I think this was more than worth the money I paid for it. Very happy with my purchase from Gearshop. I think I even noticed a difference in my strength when I went climbing recently.

Hands never stronger
13 April 2022

I had Carpal Tunnel Surgery in December and January ( both hands individually).I realized thru PT that I would need to continue working on hand strength. These exercisers have allowed me to greatly increase my strength.

I keep seeing about this first spring breaking
14 March 2023

My spring that connect the sliding thing to the other spring coils broke. I believe because I left it on 90 lbs which is its max for about three days and that weakened it and somewhere along those days it had ripped in half in the first spring. Then I could not lower it by hand to the minimum so I had to use a wrench. Then was I worked my way back up to 90 it broke like 3 minutes into using it. I really like this tool but dang it’s disappointing. Please work on somehow strengthening that first spring coil SKLZ. O

Metal fatigue
11 April 2021

Bought this forearm exerciser because of its unique features. Made great progress until the spring snapped where it attached at the top. Also the cap fell off first day of purchase. Looks as though others had similar problems of the spring snapping and cap filling off. Metal fatigue??

Obvious issue with spring. Why don't you fix it?
5 January 2021

It is a real shame that you've put an obviously low quality spring on this otherwise well designed Trainer. Its adjustability and comfort make this one of the best designed Trainers I've seen. Cost me $4.00 to get a new quality spring to repair after only 3 or 4 months of use. It would probably cost you less than $2.00 to upgrade to a better spring which would probably result in a constant stream of 5* reviews. Would not recommend unless the defective spring is replaced.

Spring Broke!!!
12 October 2020

I had owned and used this device for about a year when the spring broke. Springs are typically designed for many years of repetitive use so, it appears that the spring on this unit was defective. Others have posted the same issue so it seems there is a product design issue here. I've left a message for the manufacturer. Let's see if they stand by their product.

Veins! Veins! And more veins!

Wanna have a strong grip and look ripped just from your wrist? This device is terrific. It's small making it convenient to carry and easy to use. Strength can be varied and is comfortable using.
