Last 25 days sitting on a bench during bench testing for a documentary shoot in a remote location before it stopped charging.Immediately contacted SmallRig customer support and stressed I needed a solution within 14 days (as I specifically purchased the battery 6 weeks out from the shoot for testing). After three emails over the course of a week all separately asking questions that could have been made in the first email for quick diagnosis they offered to replace the battery. I’ve opted for a refund instead as I have no guarantee this battery can survive the field when it cannot last a month sitting still on a studio bench and with such terrible customer support. It’s very interesting in retrospect also to revisit even the five star reviews of this product and see how many had to exchange their VB99 before they had a functional one. SmallRig clearly has a quality control issue that no one is talking about as the features are so attractive.Would not advise purchase. Cannot imagine spending this much money on a battery and still not being able to promise a client I have a functioning kit. Baffling experience with customer support also.

Yes, the surcharge over the non-pro model is significant, but worth it -- just getting a measure of the wattage draw and estimated remaining lifespan itself is a huge. When I'm not doing videography I use this as a backup power source for safety equipment; the detailed status feedback is a huge advantage. And if you're comparing it to other vendors' V-Mount batteries, then you've got all the other benefits -- the 12v output (perfect for powering a video assist), the 8v output (perfect for most dummy batteries), the ability to charge from, or charge other devices via, USB-C; this is a game changer, and I'll almost certainly buy more next time I'm in the market.

If you are looking at this battery, then you most likely need reliable and long lasting power on set. Here it is.I have gone on multi-day productions, where I am behind the camera rolling for 8 to 10 hours, powering the camera down only a handful of times, and yet I still had ABSOLUTE peace of mind with 2 SmallRig v-mount batteries. The larger sizes are intriguing, but the 99 works GREAT!I have 2 in my gear bag, and I will be adding more along the way. Currently I have a setup for my FX3, running USB-C to USB-C for power, and I plan to do the same for the FX30 in the studio.AMAZING battery. I love SmallRig for their rigging components, but this battery really takes it to another level. Reliable long lasting power that also happens to be affordable.GET IT.

I've been using this SmallRig battery for months across various trips, and it has been an absolute lifesaver! From the heat and humidity of Florida to the crisp climate of Japan, this battery has been my go-to power source for the Canon R5C.It's incredibly handy when you need to power the camera for 8K recording via USB-C, charge an external monitor via D-Tap. This battery has you covered for both. Plus, you can recharge it from an outlet, making it my top travel battery for small shoots.
I definitely recommend this battery and its smaller sister.I've now used this in quite a few shoots - it charges my Sony FX3 and 5 monitor for the entire day.No issues with it (so far), the display is really cool and great to have, there are tons of ports, love it.My only criticism is that it doesn't lock super well to SmallRig's own v-mount adapter, but it could be that I got a problematic unit, not sure.Overall, highly recommended.
I purchased a few of these to add to our kits, and I could tell right away the build quality is much improved over the last VB99 Vmounts from Smallrig. I liked the new additional inputs, along with the updated screen. My only complaints with this, is that for some reason, my atoms D-Tap cord made by Atomos won't fit into this D-Tap port, however it fit on the original VB99, so i had to purchase Kondor Blue cords. Then finally for some reason these batteries drain much quicker the original VB99. I could run an entire wedding day on 1.5 of the VB99 batteries, and with the new VB99 Pro's I'm through almost 2 of the of them by start of the reception. Nothing changed when it came to usage during the day, just kind of a weird. I gave this product one star for the experience I had and one star for good faith. I love smallrig but this is my first time purchasing something electronic from the brand. The VB99 pro has all the ports, quick charging, and a beautiful design.I hoped to use this battery to power two items on my rig. The GH5S and a tilta nucleus nana II. I also use a atomos ninja v but decided to keep that little monster powered using batteries. When I first tested the rig everything worked famously. I was thrilled at how much I can get done with V battery powered rig and the length of time looked promising.I used a DC port dummy battery to power the GH5s (pulling at 5.2V) and a usb-c to usb-c to power the Nano II (Pulling at 7.4V - 8.0V). So about 15.6V setup all together. ... MoreI gave this product one star for the experience I had and one star for good faith. So about 15.6V setup all together. Below the 16V mark which looked rather promising. The problem begin when the Nano II stopped pulling the necessary voltage and dropped to 5.2V the night before I had a shoot. In full panic mode and no time I begin to investigate. Turns out the display was showing that the “Empty” (Unused) TDap port was pulling over 7.8V. With nothing plugged into that port I realized this was a malfunction. Also because it was pulling so much it cut the usb-c port down to only 5.2V which wasn’t enough to power the Nano II.Also while continuing to test I realized one of the two DC ports also stopped working and could no longer power my camera. These are labeled as (12V and 8V). Should have been more than enough to continue to power the camera.I then asked a colleague of mine if I can borrow his smallrig VB50 battery. (Smaller version of my VB99). Turns out he was also having issues with his version of the battery. The DC port would only work for a few minutes then completely stop sending power.I recommend skipping this rollout of this battery and go for something you can rely on. Hopefully Smallrig figure out what the problem is and do a full recall and correct these models.Don’t skip 2 or 3yr warranty
This is a great little battery! Especially if you shoot on a camera with a small internal battery...for example the Canon R8. I not only can hook my camera up, but also a monitor and wireless lav pac if needed and run everything with no worries of changing batteries or recharging. The new outlet cover design is much improved over the older Smallrig VB99. Hopefully they will come out with a Pro model of the VB50 for an even smaller and lighter package.
The Good: Once fully charged it works well in use. I use it to run my Viltrox 550pro screen and Sony FX30 and it lasts a whole 6ish hour shoot with me turning the screen and camara off a few times here and there during changes. The Bad: It rarely charges to 100%, seems to stop at 97%.The Worst: The manual says long press 3 seconds to turn the screen on battery off, doesn't work on my unit. So once I take it off the charger the screen on the battery runs it dead over 3 days.
I absolutely am blown away by this battery. I shoot fishing videos which entails unpredictable action, so leaving the camera on is a must. When the angler hooks up or I see something I like it’s so nice just to be able to pick up my set up and press record without having to flip it on and wait for start up the action is usually over. This being said I run a Panasonic GH6 with a cage and it lasts me 8+ hours being left on and periodically shooting the screen is amazing showing how much draw is being used along with how long I have left with what’s being plugged in, in hours and minutes which is amazing. I bought two unsure if they would last all day doing what I need I’ve yet to take the second one out of the bag.
