Amazing from first fit
So I haven't been the best about reviewing, I spend enough money on clothes and gear from REI and plenty of other outdoors and hunting stores that I really should start reviewing more gear.I first found Smartwool over 10 years ago when I got myself a baselayer midweight quarter zip, shirt. I love it, and to this day it's one of my favorite articles of clothing, miraculously holding shape and integrity after all these years. That said, I've always liked their products, and obviously R&D pulls their weight for the entire merino industry.I just put these socks on half an hour ago, and I can already tell I'm going to love them. I'm about to go buy another couple pair during my errands this morning.I can't imagine these will give out too quickly, so long as ... Merino doesn't need to be washed after every use, I frequently wear my merino socks for a few days total. After I have worn them (except for some brands that need a little dryer shrinkage love) I drape them over the side of my hamper to air-out, and will reuse them after a day with a different pair. These socks (along with some more cheaply made ultralight merino socks) will be in my daily work, and workout routines going forward.Keep up the great work Smartwool! If I have any problems with these, I'll quickly change my star rating, and update the text with the issues.... Show more

Disappointed Sizing
I've bought a lot of items in the Smartwool PhD sock product line over the past 5-8 years. I used to buy size small in the PhD ski socks and size medium in the PhD running socks. I once bought size small in the PhD running socks and that pair hurts my toes and gives me blisters, whereas the many pairs of medium PhD socks I own are a dream to wear! Anyway, the product name changed online from PhD running sock to targeted cushion but the sock appeared to be the same as what I've bought numerous times before, so I ordered 5 pairs, feeling confident that I knew what I was getting. Unfortunately they must have altered the fit / sizing when they switched from the PhD running sock to the targeted cushion running sock because the new mediums I recently bought don't fit like ... Unfortunately they must have altered the fit / sizing when they switched from the PhD running sock to the targeted cushion running sock because the new mediums I recently bought don't fit like my older mediums. The new ones fit acceptably well, but since Smartwool socks are fairly expensive and since I love my older Smartwool socks, I was expecting to love my new socks, which I don't. And that's a bummer.... Show more

Extremely comfortable, speed-oriented daily trainer (and possibly racer)
Disclaimer: Always try out shoes before you buy - individual foot size and measurement can vary greatly. Good thing you're buying from The Running Room and can always visit a retail location! The Hoka Mach 5 is a very comfortable, speed-oriented daily trainer that can double as race day shoes. They're not as propulsive as carbon/nylon-plated shoes, but at the same time offer more stability and comfort, making them great for speedwork training or just everyday runs. They're also priced aggressively for this role. Fit-wise they feature the typical Hoka low heel drop and wraparound comfort with oversized outsole that prevents rolling ankles. The upper mesh is very porous (you can practically see your foot through the mesh) so they ventilate very well, but in wet ... They are just as comfortable and takes less effort to run with, thus make my runs faster.... Show more

Love it when my shoes and feet don't stink, yay!!
I have been using Smartwool socks primarily for hiking in the last 20 years, but have recently started shifting my day to day socks over from cotton to wool. I've purchased some other brands of wool socks from various retailers, but they never seem as comfortable. What I love about these socks is that they offer a little extra cushion on the bottom/heal/toes, and thinner on top. These socks increase my feet comfort ALL day long. From going into the office and traveling, I love them for everything. Any time I buy new shoes now, I only want to wear wool socks because then my shoes don't stink! Like taking my shoes off on the plane was a no-no before, but now I have the freedom and don't have to worry if I offend others. That's the joy of wool!!... Show more

Smartwool is the ONLY sock to wear for supreme comfort!!
I've been buying and wearing Smartwool socks for 4 years at this point, and I won't wear anything else! All their socks I've purchased are phenomenal and do exactly as they claim, and I have a variety of different types from this brand. When I first started wearing them I noticed my feet feel warm (but not too warm), cozy, and comfortable all day long. I never have any moisture, and my feet maintain that clean feeling all day, like you just showered and dried them! They're really amazing, and whether you're wearing them in frigid temperatures or hot summer weather, your feet stay dry, warm or cool (depending on seasons), and comfortable every moment you're wearing them! The socks also dry very quickly if you happen to get them wet--these are all properties of Merino ... The socks also dry very quickly if you happen to get them wet--these are all properties of Merino wool and the nature of the fabric! Smartwool socks are extremely durable, and I've never worn any kind of hole in them--even the pairs I've had for 4 years!!!! In contrast, I tried some Keen Merino wool socks at the same time I bought my first pair of Smartwool, and they quickly wore thin and developed holes! I'm not paid by any company for this review, and it's 100% honest! This particular pair of Smartwool socks is fantastic! I have 2 pairs of them now and they have the perfect cushion where you need it, which reduces bulk, and maintain all the listed properties above that I described. I couldn't be any happier with this brand! I actually bought these as a replacement to a previous pair that had a warranty issue (no brand or product is perfect), and I followed Smartwool's instructions to file a warranty claim, which came through within a couple weeks, and I soon had the previous pair replaced. I own in excess of 20 pairs of Smartwool socks, and this was the only time I've had an issue, which was competently resolved in a sufficient manner of time.#sweepstakes... Show more

Smartwool shorties, perfect
My favorite socks, in a shortie design. I usually wear crews, but added these to the fleet for summer hikes, and I've loved them. I very rarely lose them into my shoes, and when I do, I know it's because I'm not laced up tight enough, so not their fault. These are, as always, perfect Smartwools, warm and dry and never stinky. I've worn them through a week of camping and never needed to air them out.... Show more

Super-duper Running Socks
Review headlines are hard to write! I just wore these on a run and my first thought was - why haven't I bought new socks sooner? Discovered I like the light padding this style provides. Super pleased with feel, fit, and quality. I have a few older pairs of Smartwool running socks and I'm very glad to not be disappointed with the newbies.... Show more

Warm or cold these socks do it all
All of these products are going to be the same answer. I wear all of these socks for everyday. I have many, many shoes, and depending on what shoe I am wearing depends which sock I wear. Zero cushion or targeted cushion. I usually wear target cushion for running when I wear Hoka Mach 5 there are very roomy on me (the way I like it) and there is plenty of room for the extra cushion. I wear Zero cushion in my running shoes that I don't run it, Brooks Glycerin, Saucony Endorphin Pro 2 and several models of ON Cloud. The crew is for when I wear over the ankle boots which is usually with jeans. I love Merino wool socks and have been wearing FEETURE'S Merino for quite some time now but the Feetures are just too tight and either hurt my big toe or too tight around the ...
