Beautiful toaster. I love having it in my kitchen and looking at it. It toasts artisan sourdough from frozen to just the right doneness, not overcooked, at setting 2 defrost mode, very quickly. The slots are barely big enough to fit sourdough from Micro Bakery. But if you prefer a bigger loaf such as from Starter Lab, the slices will not fit. You would have to cut them in half or buy a long slot toaster. Sharing an image of how Micro Bakery slices fit into the toaster. So far, it meets our needs well.... Show more

I think this purchase was one of the best decision I have made in buying kitchen stuff. I took the red color which is beautiful and shiny. The toaster is a strong heater and does the job fast enough compared to my last one which took 4 minutes to make my bread brownish gold and crunchy.I saw in some reviews that people saying about the plastic smell while using it first time when I turn the toaster on after a few seconds I smell burning plastic too so I immediately turned it off and started searching for plastic materials inside the toaster and BUZZINGA! there were some plastic particles inside the slides which was placed while manufacturing. I removed them with a cutter and tweezers and no smell of burning plastic afterward at all.... Show more

A toaster is a toaster is a toaster they say?
A toaster is a toaster is a toaster they say? These words cannot be true. I had not idea how perfect my toast could be until receiving and using this beauty. Not only is it straight up the sexiest toaster out there, it literally makes perfect toast. So perfect, I nibble it slowly to savor the joy. My ragin' raisin toast comes out scrumptious on a 2.5 setting. I would highly recommend this toaster for anyone looking to upgrade their toasting game.... Show more

Beautiful
I ordered the pink. It's a beautiful colour. Very substantial weight and feels good quality. I was concerned that in the photo the holes for the toast looked small but I needn't have worried as it's bigger than it looks and I've had no problems fitting my bread in there. The button to extract the bread is nice. Whilst smeg is expensive/a luxury item, in my view it's so worth it because the quality of the product is significantly better than cheaper brands that are £30-40 for a toaster. I couldn't go back to a Russell Hobbs now.... Show more

Disappointing quality
Had a new kitchen and decided to splash out on a smeg toaster. The first one went back because the pop out crumb tray mechanism didn't work. Overall the quality isn't what I'd expect for something with this price tag. Many of the component parts are plastic, not metal. The bread is not uniformly toasted: one side always less cooked than the other. There is a very annoying lip around the toasting slots which catches all the crumbs and requires a small brush to remove them. So in terms of design and function I am disappointed in smeg. I wouldn't buy this brand again.... Show more

Happy with toasting but not appearance now
Was a splurge to buy such an expensive toaster & was so excited to receive it. It toast better & more evenly than any toaster I have owned. Anything past toaster setting 2 is too dark/ burnt though.I ordered the matte black. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that a HUGE rectangle shaped care for instruction sticker was applied to matte surface. Enclosing paper instructions in box would have been sufficient. I very carefully tried to peel sticker off & it left a rectangle of sticky residue. Sticker did NOT come off easily. After multiple attempts, I was able to remove most but not all of residue. It left a rectangle shape of where sticker was. Placing a sticker on a matte surface was a horrible idea! VERY UNHAPPY with the appearance of my toaster now!!!!!!!!!!... Show more

Love this toaster but clear design flaws
We received this toaster as a wedding present in the Matte Black and it is stunning, people always mention it when they walk in our kitchen how beautiful it is. It toasts great, haven't had any of the issues people are facing. However, it has some clear design flaws that a $200+ toaster should not. The Matte color scratches sooo easily, we have tons of scratches and it hasn't moved since we set it up in the kitchen. The lever to push the toast down seems to be scratching it too. Also, most toasters will allow you to push the lever up after it's done toasting so you can reach smaller items and this one does not. Normally not an issue but you definitely have to be careful when pulling out smaller items like english muffins or mini bagels. Overall, love this but ... Really Disappointed
I bought this toaster along with the matching kettle, to replace my Dualit. The toaster has 6 browning options (which I think relates to minutes). I like my toast fairly well browned so i use #6. It comes out lightly browned on this highest setting & very patchy, with the top part hardly cooked at all.I sent the 1st one back to Smeg (easy enough to do), but the 2nd one is the same.I wouldn't recommend if you like your toast fully browned! For the price I would have expected so much more & wish I had stuck with the other make!... Show more

Stylish But Pricey
I bought this to match a Smeg blender I already have in white. Love the brand and it's retro style. The toaster is what it is ... a toaster, does what it says on the tin. It has wider slots than my previous much cheaper one. Settings are easy to use. The one thing I've noticed is that it doesn't drop hardly any crumbs underneath and actually collects them in the push out trays below .... Yes finally a toaster that collects crumbs! Looks super stylish. The only reason I've given it 4 stars is the price. It is basically a toaster and like most things you're paying for the brand. Also like the fact you can get extra accessories like a warming rack which for the price would've been nice to be included. I do recommend Smeg as a brand though and have a few of their products.... Top of the line SMEG toaster
My Cuisinart toaster stopped working- so my husband ordered a new toaster- the same Cuisinart model again! And that one lasted even less time before quitting. So this time I splurged on the SMEG two slot toaster and, WOW! What a difference! It toasts both sides of the bread very evenly, the controls are both functional and aesthetically pleasing... and it's such a nicely designed toaster, I am keeping a toaster on the counter for the first time ever! The SMEG is well-built and beautiful!... Show more
