Smeg TSF01CRUK Retro Style 2 Slice Toaster - Cream, Emerald Green / 2 Slice

Unfortunately, this replacement toaster is performing the same as the original. Elements not heating up evenly causing black toast on one side and little or no toasting on the other. I am unsure what my next step should be. Simply return item or try another one.

I absolutely love this toaster, it's just beautiful! The setting's are so easy and it really does make perfect toast.Some complained about a plastic smell, but I discovered that if you run it twice without toast initially, (it suggested one time in the directions) it totally takes away that "new" smell.Love it, love the size and definately giving it 5 stars!!

Beautiful

I ordered the pink. It's a beautiful colour. Very substantial weight and feels good quality. I was concerned that in the photo the holes for the toast looked small but I needn't have worried as it's bigger than it looks and I've had no problems fitting my bread in there. The button to extract the bread is nice. Whilst smeg is expensive/a luxury item, in my view it's so worth it because the quality of the product is significantly better than cheaper brands that are £30-40 for a toaster. I couldn't go back to a Russell Hobbs now.

Beautiful Style

This is a beautiful and stylish toaster that I bought at a great price. It has good wide slots for toast (I have even toasted hot x buns in it) and its toasts very evenly. So it looks beautiful and is also very practical. I’m really pleased with my purchase.

Beautiful but…….

After just returning a Kitchen Aid toaster that was extremely disappointing, I had high hopes that this SMEG toaster was the answer, sadly not. Whilst it felt sturdier and was definitely more pleasing to look at, that was where it ended. I immediately popped in two slices of bread from a standard size loaf, and guess what….. about 2cms stuck out of the top and subsequently remained un toasted!! I am baffled why companies that produce toasters do not take the time to check that an actual slice of bread fits. The only positive was that the bit that was toasted was done to perfection. Back to the drawing board and yet another return postage incurred.

Quite small. Nice design. Long lasting?

We bought this to replace a prior SMEG toaster that we liked but it stopped working (throwing the sensitive fuse on our electricity switchboard) after more than two years. I couldn't find an economical way of fixing it so reluctantly bought a replacement. We'd also bought a toasting attachment to go on top which had been pricey so we wanted an identical replacement.Unfortunately, this is smaller than our original so my plan failed. Hence it's too small for big slices of bread or for naan bread.So: check the dimensions rather than just look at the picture (as I should have done) and just hope it doesn't go wrong after two years.

Stylish but faulty

Upgraded our long standing toaster for a Smeg. The stop button never worked and even on the lowest setting the toast would sometimes burn to a char. Final straw was when we were in the garden and daughter came down to find the whole house in smoke because one slice of bread had caught fire. Thankfully we were able to control the situation and put it out. It's now being sent back to JL having only had it a month. They refunded but this has put me off ever buying a Smeg product again.

Toasts Evenly

Good performance toaster, Browns both sides of bread evenly. The bagel/crumpet setting is a good touch, but not tried yet. The only design issue I have is the poor quality of the rotating setting/switch which was thin pressed metal and the whole assembly seemed loose to me. So functionality gets 5*, quality not so good for the price bracket.

Waste of money

Bought a white Smeg toaster to go with kettle. When toast is done it jumps out onto worktop! Nightmare trying to look where it has landed. Whilst it is a lovely looking toaster it stopped working a couple of weeks out of its 2 year warranty. Thought the normal John Lewis customer service would help out - they did not. If you're used to the usual fab customer service from JL, it is no longer maybe because of COVID times. It's the the most expensive toaster I have ever bought and it has been the one that has lasted the least. You can buy a much cheaper toaster that will last longer and toast just pops up. Avoid at all cost waste of money.

I went to John Lewis at York to purchase this toaster in pale blue. Really disappointed that it wasn't in stock but the sales assistant said I could order it and it would take 3-5 days or slightly longer which is understandable. I placed the order and 23 hours 45minutes later it arrived at my house. FANTASTIC SERVICE or what and delivery was free and I even got a price match on the never undersold.Now the toaster, it's looks so stylish, is well built, very easy to use and I love the idea of the removable crumb tray. You can reheat toast and even use it for bagels, also you can alter how brown you like your toast. I can honestly say this product is worth every penny and it comes with a two year guarantee which is an added bonus.
