Sonos - Play:3 Wireless Speaker for Streaming Music - White

$177.00

It is a rectangle shaped accessory which acts as a stereo sound source for music streaming. It has a modern and alternative design and looks good sitting anywhere in the room. It can be placed vertically as well as horizontally. It generates a booming bass that can fill all kinds of rooms. Despite this great bass, there is zero vibration in the Sonos Play 3 body or the cabinet it is placed on. You can connect two Play 3s to form a home theatre. The sound accessory is easy to connect wirelessly as it comes with Wi-Fi connectivity. Just connect it to your Wi-Fi network and you are ready to stream. Sono Play 3 also works with Sonos own dedicated app which can be installed on your smart devices to control music when connected over its built-in Wi-Fi. Other specs of the SONOS Play 3 Wireless Speaker (Australian Stock) are: 3x Class-D digital amplifiers, 1x tweeter, 2x mid-woofers for stereo sound, bass radiator, adjustable bass, treble and volume control, 6.35mm connection, LED indicators, Ethernet port for wired connectivity to router and 2.6 KG weight.

I’ve been lucky enough to own two Sonos Play:3 devices since 4 years. These powerful soundmachines provide a lot of musical flavor to our living. Via Spotify and via the wonderful Sonos Apps, we are able to play our favorite songs. The boxes support a variable range of frequencies like the higher vocal of songs like Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith, while also being able to support lower basses. The quality is definitely better than an average box (like Pioneer) , when combined a true stereo-effect can be heard and felt! I can certainly recommend a set of Play:3 although they do bring a price. To my honest opinion, that is a negative point.

Another great CEX experience

I've bought a lot from CEX over the years and have always been super impressed with even their Grade B products. I've wanted to add a Play3 to my sonos collection for a while, to add a bigger sound in my kitchen. A 5 won't fit, but the 3 has always been on my radar & I love them. The unit I received was absolutely perfect. The only thing making it Grade B was the lack of the original box. I honestly can't find a single mark on it & the sound is great in our kitchen. Excellent service yet again, CEX.

Bought 2x Sonos Play 3’s a fortnight ago. I have friends who have had Sonos systems for years but it wasn’t something I’d considered. To be honest I find the design bland but after looking at several wireless speakers I decided to look into Sonos. I wanted something with some volume & so plumped for the Play 3’s with them being so keenly priced I bought 2 & use them together for true stereo. The set up is very easy & the sound is superb. The Sonos app is good & but I’m still getting used to it. Ok they won’t win any design prize but I can forgive them for that. What’s more-my wife approves.Service from Richer Sounds, Kingston was excellent & they also come with a 6 year warranty. Have you some of that John L***s!

Convenient quality mid hifi

What you have to really ask yourself is when and how much you listen to music. How important is it to you to have an excellent sound With two Sonos Play 3 speakers set up as stereo the sound quality is good and dependant on the quality of the source approaches at least cd standards (the qualifier being that you must have a decent wifi connection). Tidal will stream flac which is more but does sound better. The quality of Internet radio streamed over the Sonos is at least as good as dab.. The other plus is that Sonos speakers are really easy to set up. OK so what is the downside. Don't delude yourself that it is as good as my linn ittok. It isn't. The soundstage and clarity just isn't as good. The problem is that most of the time you actually have music as a background to, for example, reading, working, doing housework etc. To appreciate high quality hifi, you need to listen to it without doing anything else. With this in mind Sonos in an excellent solution. It is convenient as well as giving good sound quality.

Disappointing longevity

This does everything it's advertised as doing; sounds good, looks good, easy to control and [mostly] reliable. My Play 3 in the kitchen does appear to have issues playing while I'm riding my bike on my Bluetooth/ANT+ turbo trainer, with ANT+ sensors going as well, but the rest of the time it's fine. The problem is, at this price, I expected something that would last pretty much a lifetime. Unfortunately not. I've got 2 x Play:3s, two Play:1s, a Connect and a bridge, and one of the Play:3s has given up the ghost recently. It's around 4-5 years old, has hardly been used (it's the one in the bedroom), and seems to have a power supply Chances are a local repair shop could easily fix it, or even Sonos could but, no! Sonos doesn't work that way. They will replace the item at a cost of around 50% of the original price. This might be fine if these faults were a rare occurrence, but looking online, I've seen loads of people who've had the same problem, so I'm now worrying that this is the start of a trend and the rest of my devices are going to fail.I'm going to go with the replacement for this one, but I won't be expanding my Sonos system and will be considering alternatives if this happens again.

Great sound for the price, just misses top marks.

The sound quality and function of the Sonos Play 3 is excellent for the CEX price.I initially looked at Sonos prior to the software update which removed the need for the Bridge and allowed direct connection with standard home WiFi on the 2.5GHz band. This works well with our PlusNet Hub Zero, an appalling device, so it can manage with this it will likely manage on all routers.Comparing sound quality to a Zeppelin air, of similar price on CEX, the zeppelin is clearly better to my ears, deeper base, more power and slightly clearer vocals, but it’s much bigger and without as much cleverness in the internet connectivity provided by the Sonos app.The Sonos app is powerful, if a little clunky in my opinion. Iplayer radio shows are available via tune in radio, but finding them involves diving through category after category rather than the more sensible BBC app and streaming directly from that as with Airplay, Bluetooth or Chromecast devices.Spotify and Amazon music work well with their associated subscriptions, I have however had more difficulty playing FLAC music from a MyBookLive NAS – another totally useless device. The connection should be possible, and indeed they see each other intermittently, a network problem rather than Sonos I thing. When they do - it works well the sound is as playing a CD. 44.1 khz@16bit, but currently that seems to be the limit in terms of audio quality, no ‘highres’ support as yet.As a device in the bedroom it works very well, perhaps a little overpowered, the smaller Play 1 probably would have suited better, it filled a large ish living room well with a powerful, if fairly narrow sound stage but was still comfortable to sit in front of, listen to and enjoy. My main gripe with the system is the lack of external input, it would have been in my eyes beneficial to include an external input, as minimum on all players rather than the Play 5, Soundbar, and connect/amp. Allowing further future proofing and ability to work without the sonos environment should the company disappear.Secondary gripe in today’s age very low power wifi connected devices we should see next to 0W standby power consumption the Play 3 draws 4.6W when in standby only a small amount but I consider sloppy design when you may have 3 or 4 Sonos devices say 18.4 watts or 161KWh /year or about £25/year on current renewable tariffs. Same energy used to keep a modest multi-room Sonos system in standby could send an electric car around 400 miles, or each individual Play 3 burning 100 miles without going anywhere useful.Happy with the quality, sound, connectivity and function and would recommend to others.

Love Sonos

I'm a big fan of Sonos speakers and the great sound quality they deliver; but I do struggle to personally justify the retail price. Really pleased to find this Play 3 on WeBuy.I'm a little surprised the grading doesn't go A-E instead of just A-C. B grade, just seems to mean not in original box; This one was certainly in mint condition. I'm less certain what to expect of C grade. I've since blown another shed load of dosh on a B grade Sonos Sub. Somebody stop me.

Old product, but cheap and still sounds great

I've a couple of Play 1s in the kitchen, but wanted an extra speaker in the lounge for occasional use when we have friends round to have same music throughout. Cheap as old product, but still good sound quality - the TruePlay tuning really made a difference.

Having already purchased a Sonos Play 1 from Richer Sounds earlier in the year, I decided to expand my Sonos collection.I was going to plump for another Play 1 but decided to to upgrade to a Play 3 instead due to the fact that it was only £219 (the usual value for money Richer sounds pricing) with a 6 year guarantee includedThe unit was very easy to set up and took less than a minute to add to my existing Sonos. The sound quality from this speaker is utterly amazing and sounds just as good in my larger kitchen as it does in my smaller dining room.No doubt in the New Year I will be further expanding my Sonos collection to include my children bedrooms and lounge. If you have any doubts about the quality of this product, get yourself down to any Richer sounds ... MoreHaving already purchased a Sonos Play 1 from Richer Sounds earlier in the year, I decided to expand my Sonos collection.I was going to plump for another Play 1 but decided to to upgrade to a Play 3 instead due to the fact that it was only £219 (the usual value for money Richer sounds pricing) with a 6 year guarantee includedThe unit was very easy to set up and took less than a minute to add to my existing Sonos. The sound quality from this speaker is utterly amazing and sounds just as good in my larger kitchen as it does in my smaller dining room.No doubt in the New Year I will be further expanding my Sonos collection to include my children bedrooms and lounge. If you have any doubts about the quality of this product, get yourself down to any Richer sounds store (which I did) and have a listen to their instore set up.I'm sure you will agree on the quality and ease of use of Sonos products.By far my best purchases this past 2 years.

This is one of the few tech gadgets that I have encountered that is really simple to set-up and use right out of the box. No mumbo jumbo tech language. Just plug it in, turn on the app and answer basic questions. Oh and the sound. If you are an audiophile I am sure there are things to find flaw with. But, as someone who suffers with tinnitus these speakers are fabulous. I got two so I could experience some stereo separation. The Sonos trueplay tuning really does make a difference. I connected a Synology NAS that has my music library on it and that was equally dirt simple. People complain about Sonos support, but if you take a few minutes to read their support site and instructions you'll find they are complete.
