I purchased this hood to replace the hood on my brand new 70-200G that couldn't survive a fall from literally 2 inches (okay, maybe 3 inches). I reached for another camera and the 70-200G was resting on top of it. It cracked like a bad witness on the witness stand.I contact Sony who said too bad. If this hood is engineered to have the structural integrity of an egg then I question if it's for professional use. My Canon lenses have hit walls, doors, and floors (in minor ways) hundreds of times and never cracked. I'm just saying. Maybe that's the difference between professional equipment and recreational equipment?We'll see what happens with this new one.Grumpy in Florida

This hood is identical to the original one supplied with the Sony 70-200 f/4 zoom lens. I had damaged (dropped) the original one and this is a perfect replacement for it.
Sony lenses and accessories are very expensive, but compared to European prices this was good value. It fits well, helps protect the lens from stray light and rain and is very well designed. Worth the money over a cheaper, less well made alternative.
Great OEM hood, has a black interior soft lining and rubber ring.it is fragile, mine cracked and it is expensive to purchase a new one
