I often complain that headphones are too heavy or uncomfortable after an extended period of use but the same can't be said for these. In fact, they're super comfortable and I found wearing them was a fantastic experience. Music sounds rich with the right amount of treble and bass. If you're looking for headphones with heavy bass, these are not for you. The bass in these is very strong yet not overpowering. If you have lossless audio files, these headphones will certainly play them beautifully without fail. Am very impressed. The colours are bold, stylish and certainly a fashion statement but if you don't want to seem so "out there", the black ones are just as nice. After using these headphones for the past week or so I have to say they make my train rides to and from work more enjoyable. Whether I'm listening to music or just watching videos on my phone the sound quality is just so crisp with not too much bass and treble. It sounds just right and well balanced. Even when I'm talking on the phone its clear and just sounds a lot better compared to my other headphones. The cups of the headphones are nice and soft as well as the headband. There's just enough padding for me to wear this for long periods of time. The cords don't tangle easily which is a plus as well. There are a lot of things about the design that I like from the colour choices and the etched Sony logo on the headband to how it folds in for when I want to store it ... MoreAfter using these headphones for the past week or so I have to say they make my train rides to and from work more enjoyable. The finish and the bold colour of it makes it stand out especially if you choose the red headphones. It just turns heads. The only thing I'm scared of with continued use is if it scratches but I've yet to experience anything like that. These headphones are a bit on the pricey side but if you want to stand out from the crowd and want a well balanced and comfortable headphone, this is the one to get!

After using the MDR-100AAP (h.ear on) for a couple of weeks, these headphones have become a great addition to my morning ritual. I tend to avoid bulky headphones in lieu of more portable in-ear headphones. However the Sony MDR-100AAP are so comfortable that I typically forget that I have them on. This is mainly attributed to the fact that the earpiece are both adjustable and rotatable. For home use, I find the headset more comfortable than the Sony Gold Wireless Headset particularly for prolong gaming sessions on the PS4.Secondly it is clear from the quality of the headset that Sony has really stepped up the game. The head has a smooth metallic finish, which I feel is appropriate to the price unlike the plastic casing of other (more expensive) branded alternatives ... MoreAfter using the MDR-100AAP (h.ear on) for a couple of weeks, these headphones have become a great addition to my morning ritual. My own issue with the yellow headset is that it stands out a little too much. I feel that the blue one has a more subtle outlook, however each to their own.As for the sound, the headset isn't overpowering which might take some getting used to. I feel like the sound isn't powerful enough for public transport (or this may be due to the noise isolation) and I regularly find myself having to turn the volume up.Finally with the design, the headset folds up to become quite compact and comes with a matching pouch for storage. I'd personally prefer if the included cable was not a "L" shape connector, however this is easily fixed with a replacement cable.Overall I'm quite happy with these headsets and would not hesitate to recommend.

Great new addition to the Sony Hi-Res lineup
21 September 2015

Really impressed with the new 'hear.on' hi res lineup - the MDR-100AP has the traits of the bigger brothers from MDR-R series and the headphones have the signature neutral/flat soundstage with great clarity. Only quibble with these is that its perhaps too flat for some tastes and lacks the warmth from the low end. Tried these with the new hi-res walkman and it sounded absolutely fantastic. The headphones are significantly lighter than most over ear headphones which means that its comfortable over wearing a long period of time - really impressed. Overall a great choice for those wanting something more, not to mention the flat cable stops the cord from tangling as much (thank you Sony!)

Stylish Design & Bang for buck performance.

The h.ear on headphones is a great step up from your average run of the mill earphones and provides great performance for headphones in it's category.I normally use my earphones to listen to music and I would sometimes crave for more sound cancellation and higher fidelity. The h.ear on headphones provided that and really did make a difference in the way I listen to music.Even listening through Spotify, I could hear a difference in quality and it let me hear elements I could never hear before using normal earphones or entry level headphones. When listening to hi-res or uncompressed audio, the difference is really apparent, even for someone like me who is not an audiophile. The design is the thing I love the most, it is minimal and comes in great colours. The start of a high-res audio movement
14 December 2015

The Sony MDR-100AAP are a really interesting set of headphones - they're one of the first to boast the HighRes audio tag that Sony introduced quite recently to quite a skeptical world. What exactly "is" high-res audio? We can understand "high-res" in terms of pictures, but what does it mean for sound? Well, let me tell you - it's actually quite exciting.I was a bit skeptical, but when I put on these headphones and played some music from a Sony HighRes walkman I was pretty sold. The bass is so deep, the tones varied - it's something you really need to try for yourself. Don't just read reviews. As for the product itself, it's good - but the quality of the product has a little to be desired. The pause button the headphone is a bit weak - but the headphones are very, very comfortable. All in all, it's a good product that delivers in what you want most out of a headphone - it sounds good and feels good on the head. But it's missing that little extra level of shine and polish that you would expect.

Very comfortable + great sound
5 November 2017

Very comfortable headphones that go around the ear, not on the ear. Build quality is great, with aluminium being used as the main material. Padding provided in the right places for comfort. Colour is awesome! Sound quality is perfect as well - on the bass side of things, and the design of the ear pads allows for maximum outside sound blockage. These headphones fold too for storage and comes with a travel bag. Great product overall!

These are the h.ear on headphones that are due to be released for sale this weekend.Honestly, I've never had a pair of headphones that have actually fit my head before, yet these do (without falling off). The noise cancelling is literally, deaf to everything outside of them. Build quality wise, it's like Sony have corrected everything they did wrong over the past 10 years. Now I just need to wait a little longer while some Hi-Res audio completes downloading and then I can put them through their pace. I'll be testing them on a Sony Xperia M2, along with an ASUS 6.1 Hi-Res audio sound card plugged into the PC.I've been listening to an album I know backwards. Through a couple of devices. The album is Muse - Absolution, the devices are, my Hi-Res ready PC and my Xperia M2. Note that the phone isn't Hi-Res, and the h.ear on headphones are not supposed to work on a PC or laptop. The headphones crashed windows when plugging them in or out (which has been happening a lot, so it might be the PC's fault rather than than the headphones). But given a restart, and a Hi-Res compatible media player, you do notice the difference between non Hi-Res speakers and the headphones. It's not a tiny difference either, it's massive!.However, I then tried the same album on my smartphone, and I'm sad to say, there is a loss of quality due to the hardware. It does still play FLAC files through 7 Digital (the app I used to buy and play Hi-Res audio). The loss isn't as great as you might think however, it's not as bad as the non Hi-Res speakers, but you're still going t want to get a Hi-Res phone. Speaking of which, the Z5 is available in the same colours. So I now want a phone to match, I also want to replace my entire discography to Hi-Res. The trouble is, not much of it is available, in fact there is very little available right now. Here then is the dilemma. The sound is unbelievable, the design and build quality is everything you'd expect from Sony at their best. You really want these headphones, but they'll make you poor very quickly, and frustrated that you will be switching between MP3/CD/HiFi and Hi-Res quality until all your files are Hi-Res.TLDR: The summary is this; these headphones are amazing, but it might be too early to make the switch. It's the DVD to Blu-Ray switch all over again.

they rival my personal earphones
21 May 2016

went to hmv and tried them out. on my oneplus one using player pro, licensed unlocked edition, i fully stress tested them and found them to be excellent in their sound output. lightweight and very comfortable. the tangle free cable is nice. using player pro i set it to max on the amp and set the equaliser accordingly and, unlike the beats 299 cups that vibrate, they sounded very good. I personally use jvc xx earphones at only 17 and the bass in them is where i want it. These headphones are too good.
