I never used a Samsung Projector before, only TVs but this one ticks almost all the boxes! The most important thing for me personally it was the projector to be portable and this one is very lightweight and also came with a case on pre-order which is great! The projector fits perfectly in the case including the lenses cap. The case has a clip where you can attach it to your backpack which make it very easy to take it with you anywhere. The second part is that the The Freestyle Projector comes with a remote, and Samsung Tizen OS which makes our lifes easier. (e.g. easy to link to your Samsung devices, screenshare, Netflix and other apps you have already on your TV).Its actually like a TV but portable! I love the design as its similar to a medium size speaker, the white colour matches a remote also and makes it stand out of the ordinary! The best thing about this projector is that from unboxing to watch a film it only takes under 10 mins! The screen projection goes up 100 inch (~2.54m), also easy to determine the screen size by following the distance instructions from the booklet. If that isn't enough you can link a 2nd projector as one!!The picture quality is 1080p and the sound is quite good for a small piece of kit. The Freestyle has auto focus and picture levelling, so no mater if you use it on an uneven surface your screen remains the same!Additionally, you can connect your Bluetooth speaker for a better experience, but also supports dual Bluetooth earbuds connection, that means you can watch a film with the loved ones without disturbing your baby! The remote is solar powered and can charge from normal daylight or sunny days! What I don't like about this projector is the connectivity features. It only has a micro HDMI which is quite limited, as you cannot use the USB C port for data sharing etc. On the other hand you can watch films on the go if you own a Netflix/DisneyPlus/Prime subscription and by using a power brick (able to power delivery). The other things I am not happy about is that the accessories (power brick, cable and remote) have no place in the case! It would be nice to at least come with a microfiber pouch to avoid forgetting it home or misplace it etc.Overall, this is a good projector with great features, I do recommend it to anyone who is travelling a lot, or looking for a perfect summer night in the garden, or kids room etc.

Ph and the solar charging remote is genius - why don't all remotes do this?I have not had chance to try the new stitching feature where you can combine two Freestyles, but with Samsung releasing it for the original Freestyle in the coming months I hope to try this soon.

Having never owned a projector before I was interested in the flexibility of the Freestyle 2nd Gen. It came really well presented with minimal packaging and the bonus of the carry case as well. It would have been nice if they included a HDMI to Micro HDMI in the box as whilst it is plug and play for apps like Netflix, Disney etc, if you wish to connect to a Blu Ray player or games console you will need the adapter. In the box you get the Freestyle 2nd Gen, USB C plug and cable (albeit that the cable could do with being longer) and also the remote. The remote is particularly nice and has a soft touch feel to it and has a solar panel on the back and USB C input at the base. The projector also has a cover already installed which you have to screw off before use.Set up ... MoreHaving never owned a projector before I was interested in the flexibility of the Freestyle 2nd Gen. It takes you into the Samsung User Interface which is very familiar if you have ever used a smart TV or streaming stick. Clearly listing a range of available apps you can log into such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney and Samsung’s own free TV service. The Freestlye 2nd Gen is very clever and recognises the surface it is aimed towards and it’s undisturbed space and offers a picture sized to fit that space. I tried it on several walls and each time it auto focused to fit the area. At times there is a very small amount of adjusting which can be done with through the simple interface. At full size it really does fill walls with around 8 ft horizontally covered, if not slightly more.We have watched a range of films and streaming on it and for the most part it has been really impressive. It is always much better in a totally dark room as light is it’s biggest problem. If you do watch in a dark room it really stands out, the colours are great and it also offers several picture modes including dynamic which punches the colours up and increases contrast. It also have Movie which is a flatter profile but generally better for most films otherwise they can look a bit over-processed on the dynamic setting. The sound from such a small device is really a standout feature, even on low volumes it can clearly be heard. Push the volume up and it fills the room. This is not to compare to a dedicated speaker but it is comparable for most modern TV’s and considering it’s compact form it is really impressive. For anyone who has friends or family over, or simply enjoys watching immersive content, it really is a great way to do it, plus it offers the portability.
The Freestyle 2nd Gen is an amazing compact projector. it comes with a USB C power cable as well as a remote with the standard power, volume and navigation buttons. It is packed with smart tech and has access to a myriad of apps. The remote allows you to quickly jump into Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and of course Samsung's own tv offering. For its size its able to project a bright image that can compete with bright sunny days, though i havent tested to see how it fairs outside in direct sunlight but even with curtains open you can clearly see what it is projecting. Of course darkened rooms is where it shines and its speaker, located on the bottom of the device, is able to provide excellent sound. You can of course connect bluetooth headphones for solo viewing sessions or when you are looking to get better audio ques when you are gaming.Speaking of gaming, the freestyle offers access to various game streaming services and I used my Xbox Game Pass to test it out. I cant tell you how much the portability and streaming quality has changed my life. Now, whilst getting in some steps on my walking map, i can continue my gaming sessions by projecting onto the wall in front of me and playing with my bluetooth enabled controller of choice. The Freestyle treats your controller like a remote as well so you can hop from your gaming session, to a video streaming service of your choice or access any other setting. The auto keystone and focus settings are surprisingly quick and allow you to move the projector around without having to manually adjust settings to level and ensure the picture is square on the surface you are projecting onto. This of course is something that will be even better when using the freestyle using an external battery (which i havent done) but when going from projecting onto my wall onto my ceiling it would take not more than 3 seconds to correct itself and choose the best settings. I can of course manually set the size of the screen and move the actual projection area to better suit the surface im projecting onto. e.g to miss out weird outcroppings or ensure its not projecting onto my chest of drawers.Overall i enjoy the freestyle and the only thing i would change is the mini hdmi port. A USB C port would have opened up a lot more options now and into the future, though with access to so many apps the limited connection options can be forgiven in my opinion.
The Freestyle by Samsung is just about everything I ever wanted in a portable projector. It's small enough to fit in a backpack, light enough to not make it a burden to carry. It features an automatically adjusting keystone, which means you don't have to have the projector pointed straight at your screen. You can even pick it up while a video is playing and set it down at a completely different angle, and it'll auto adjust in a flash. I love the future! If you want, you can project straight up at the ceiling!During the day, in my sunlit bedroom with north facing windows, as long as it was a shorter casting length, like a couple of feet, the cast image was plenty bright enough to see so long as the screen was facing away from the window, but due to the distance the ... MoreThe Freestyle by Samsung is just about everything I ever wanted in a portable projector. You can even pick it up while a video is playing and set it down at a completely different angle, and it'll auto adjust in a flash. I love the future! If you want, you can project straight up at the ceiling!During the day, in my sunlit bedroom with north facing windows, as long as it was a shorter casting length, like a couple of feet, the cast image was plenty bright enough to see so long as the screen was facing away from the window, but due to the distance the size could only be so big. A longer cast, across the entire room to get the max-sized picture, ended up too washed out by the ambient light. Of course, at night, everything was brilliant with lower light conditions. Now that it's getting dark before I leave work, this is fine. Not sure how it'll be during the summer. As long as you have an internet connection, Samsung made sure to add all the streaming apps, pretty much making it a smart tv. It even provides a curated constant stream of multiple programming channels, giving you the illusion of having cable tv. I'm so accustomed to streaming all of my content on demand, that the faux channel surfing experience that the Freestyle offers has this uncanny valley edge to it. I also don't know if this is the default behavior, or if I hit something during setup, but whenever the projector is not displaying any content for long enough, it'll auto switch to the simulated tv content, playing whatever channel was last on. This can get annoying when you are just trying to rearrange your apps and all of a sudden Duck Dynasty shows up in the background. I couldn't care less about the show, and yet on multiple occasions on several different days, if I wasn't fast enough in choosing my input, here came a bunch of old bearded guys (I'm not sure which one was "Duck") all talking about whatever inane bs, destroying my concentration or will to do anything other than figuring out how to get this guy off my wall. That part of the projector is really, really annoying, and I hope that somebody tells me how to figure it out, otherwise I'm just gonna disable the wifi access because it's that annoying.I also found the Gaming Hub off the main menu, and to my surprise the device supports Xbox's Gamepass cloud streaming, Amazon's Luna, and nVidia's GeForce Now. All I had to do was connect a bluetooth controller (like the one that came with my Xbox Series S), sign in, and I could get right to gaming, no need to hook up a console. Of course, I could always connect my switch (either through the dock and an adapter, or a usb-c mini dock and a mini hdmi cable) or handheld gaming pc to be able to play my portable gaming systems on the big, big screen. Starfield, huge on my wall, was pretty cool. Mario Kart 8 where everyone had a screen the size of a big screen was amazing. One of my favorite features was the various ambient apps. There's a few that look like you have a window with an amazing view that remind me of the scene in Back to the Future 2 in future Marty's house. There's also party décor, like a happy birthday banner or a neon city scene. The funky kaleidoscope routines are also a great way to spend a mushroom trip. The sound is on par with a smaller bluetooth speaker. You won't be using it as your main audio source if you intend to screen a movie for a party in the backyard. You could always hook up a bluetooth speaker system to it to solve that (it also can cast to two different bluetooth headsets simultaneously). But sitting in a room at night and projecting on a space next to you, the sound is sufficient.I was both surprised and puzzled by the remote. It doesn't have batteries, and is charged via the solar panel on the back, which is pretty cool. However, the channel/volume toggles were these thin plastic tabs sticking way out of the remote. I can just imagine them breaking off on the first drop, they look so delicate and fragile. And if you were to bring the projector on a trip, you'd have to take extra care to pack the remote so that the toggles weren't smashed. They are nice and tactile, but what's wrong with the regular buttons all over the remote? There is an optional battery pack attachment, in case you want to have a purely mobile experience. There's also an official case, though it doesn't look like it would fit the charger, remote or battery pack. If both came standard (and the case was fixed to hold those three things, plus a micro-HDMI adapter), this would truly be the ultimate projector. Unfortunately, without the battery pack, you are tethered to the wall via a power cable. And unless you bring an adapter and a cable, you need a wifi connection to use the apps, or to cast to it (if you can). Taking this on a camping trip looks to be too much trouble than it's worth, which is a bummer. The big huge problem that I have with the Freestyle is the lack of support for casting from a Pixel phone. I have a Pixel 8 Pro, and there is no support to cast from any app, including Samsung's own Smartthings app. I don't understand why the device doesn't support it, since it's an Android phone. I can cast to the Freestyle from my iPad mini since the projector has AirPlay support, so what's the deal? The best I could do with the phone was use it as a remote control for the projector. I was also unable to cast from my desktop PC. Casting from my laptop seemed to work ok. My disappointment in finding out that the inability to cast from a Pixel phone is essentially an incompatible and unresolvable hardware conflict is immeasurable.Ultimately, I think this is a really cool device to have, provided you are prepared to deal with the compromises. No support for casting from Pixel phones, no internal battery, micro-HDMI input necessitating the use of an adapter (not included), and auto-playing annoying shows (I even found the setting for automatically starting up the last used app and I switched it off, didn't help) all are really frustrating shortcomings that I feel prevent me from wanting to pop this in my bag to take everywhere. It's more like this little gadget that you whip out to flex on other gadget nerds. If I had a Samsung phone and was more invested in their walled garden of connectivity, I'd probably have a better experience and get to use whatever features are exclusive to their hardware like the desktop environment. I thought it would be like this portable monitor that I could use anywhere, but it's more like a portable auto-playing tv that I can use anywhere in my house close to a plug that's within range of my router, so long as it's dark enough. Since the full functionality of the device is hamstrung by my choice of phone manufacturer, I feel like I have to do too much work to get this to play my own content instead of the 24 hour Duck Dynasty channel.
Well, first of all I must start saying I don't understand the lowest stars reviews. I am not a projector veteran, but without innovations like this Samsung The Freestyle be sure I would never be. Projectors are quite demanding beings, they've always been. They require proper cabling, proper energy supply, dedicated input and output, dedicated heathsink, dedicated light conditions. Really, projectors are among the most impractical things out there. And well, we all know this since the beginning! So, stop yelling of being disappointed about this product. I've got before only one projector, purchased specifically for one single, simple, basic task, which was to project ebooks in the evening. I would not have purchased a projector for other, more demanding uses, like replacing a TV display, for the impracticalities mentioned above. I ensure you I've made some research around the world of projectors, before realising that projectors were not quite for me. And previous to this The Freestyle entered the market, I was sure I was right. Besides the projectors whose prices are thirty times above the budget, all the other consumer projectors in the market have something (intentionally?) missing... one is excellent but too large, one is excellent but too heavy, one is excellent but hasn't the lastest wireless, one is excellent but cannot be charged with powerbanks, one is excellent but is too small, one is excellent but has no auto tilt function, one is excellent but cannot be attached to the wall, one is... well, you got it, it goes on and on like this. It looks like a trap for money. Better even not to start at all. Yet, finally this Samsung The Freestyle came out, and finally I've seen something not wanting to compromise at all costs. Okay, it was expensive when it came out at £999, but if it were cheaper, it might have been confused with the tons of crap things that is still out there, and simply this is not. It is a very well designed and realized piece of kit, capable of being effortlessly set up, packed with the most recent technologies, put together to be enjoyable to use in seconds, anywhere you feel it is movie time. I think it must have been fruit of some brilliant marketing insight. I would have never been happy in putting my money in one of the many other projectors which are always missing some feature unless you are ready to buy the most expensive of them, and still be ready to remain unsatisfied when a new tech will come out in three months. With this The Freestyle I feel honestly served well. I've got a package truth to its design, minimalistic and of quality, easy to use and to enjoy, which is above my expectations on all the important things: excellent image, robust sound, seamless connection, silent, quality charger and cable, handy remote, well in general better performance than expected. I don't know if I would have purchased this without discount, but I was certainly putting this above all the many "kind of affordable, overachieving in something and underperforming in something else" other projectors in the market, even when it was at 999.
Apologies for the block of text I can't seem to put breaks in ------ As with other reviews due to stock issues, I've only had this for a couple of days.Upon opening the projector I was genuinely surprised at how small and compact it really was. Having been used to giant "budget" projectors to get everything in such a small package was pretty impressive. Love that the remote has a solar cell in it to top us the battery BUT as you can't use this projector in sunlight bright enough to charge it, and as this has to spend most of its life inside (due to a lack of battery) don't think I'm going to get much use out of it.Once out of the box I just pointed it at a random wall and the image automatically adjusted which was magic to watch. Being honest I then spent about 5 mins just aiming it at different walls and seeing if it would adjust (spoiler it did). The interface is super easy to navigate if you've ever had a Samsung TV, and as I've got a Galaxy fold 4 the pairing to the Samsung's Smart things app was super slick as well. I've tried a few apps and all seems pretty slick. The 360 sound was impressive for such a small set of speakers, and the gaming mode through the dedicated Xbox app was great when you could pair an Bluetooth controller directly to the projector. So onto the slight niggles: Whilst I get this is "Portable" the fact that you dont get a battery in the box, means yes you can move it around easily but you still need a power socket. Not exactly the freedom that is promised from the marketing. (I can see that there is a freestyle battery pack but this is another £159!! ouch)Whilst I can pair to my phone and the default apps are good, the lack of an HDMI adapter is super disappointing, especially when it uses a Micro HDMI so none of your existing cables will work. All it would have taken is a micro to full size and it'd be greatThen theres the case, firstly with its carabiner and rugged design this again sells the projector as "portable" when without a battery its def not. Secondly it only holds the projector and nothing else, not the charger, remote or any cables, so you still have to carry all these around with you.All in all I do think this is a great little projector and better than others that I've had previously. The Image is good quality, the adjustments to various surfaces is quick and the range of inbuilt apps is solid. Just stop marketing it as "Portable" and maybe just Space-Saving
The QN800C by Samsung is a masterpiece. Taking the plunge for this TV is well worth it. My previous TV was a 4k LG OLED and the QN800C with its 8K Neo QLED blows away the OLED in every way imaginable. The QN800C is the brightest TV I have ever experienced, and this makes for outstanding viewing in my bright living room during the day. For me, quality of the picture is what I care about the most and the Samsung QN800C exceeds all expectations. The 8K content is already starting to become available and I put the QN800C through the paces to see if the 8K hype is really worth it, and I can tell you it really really is, especially the larger you go with panel size, the difference between 4K and 8K becomes more and more noticeable. More importantly, it upgrades 4K content ... MoreThe QN800C by Samsung is a masterpiece. Taking the plunge for this TV is well worth it. More importantly, it upgrades 4K content to 8K content with its Neural Quantum Processor. This is my first Samsung TV, and the Quantum Matrix Pro with Mini LEDs coupled with the Neo Quantum HDR 8K make pictures look astounding. The frame of the Infinity One Design compliments the sleek and modern aesthetic I am going for in my home and the Slim One Connect box helps me keep all my cables tucked away and out of sight! This TV has some very cool speakers on the back panel and they support Dolby Atmos right out of the box. One thing I am excited to try out is pairing the QN800C with Samsung sound bars to unlock Q-Symphony 3.0 so the TV speakers can mesh with my sound bar for a synchronized sound experience. An issue I had with my LG OLED tv was that the bright living room would reflect off the TV. The Samsung QN800C has a Anti-Glare coating that is miles better than the OLED and makes the clarity and quality of the panel pop even more! To put it into perspective just how brilliant the images are, I took some photos of the TV playing a 8K YouTube video and have attached them below. It took me a while to make the plunge and spend the money on the Samsung QN800C. Now that I have experienced it, I am confident I went with the right call and would do it again! Seeing is believing and I am definitely a believer.
I got The Freestyle 2nd Gen with Gaming Hub because it is easy to setup, easy to carry and with its different accessories it has many more capabilities.First, taking it out of the box, it looks elegant, simple and modern at the same time.To setup it is easy, there are two options to do so , via app or with the remote, I set it up with the remote because it is probably the hardest and it was easy anyway. It must connect to WiFi to be able to stream or use any online service. It does not need WiFi if I am just projecting images or video from my phone by mirroring it. I can also connect the projector with a micro HDMI so that is another option.I really like that once I setup both assistants, I can use Alexa or Bixby so I do not need to search letter by letter I ... MoreI got The Freestyle 2nd Gen with Gaming Hub because it is easy to setup, easy to carry and with its different accessories it has many more capabilities.First, taking it out of the box, it looks elegant, simple and modern at the same time.To setup it is easy, there are two options to do so , via app or with the remote, I set it up with the remote because it is probably the hardest and it was easy anyway. I can also connect the projector with a micro HDMI so that is another option.I really like that once I setup both assistants, I can use Alexa or Bixby so I do not need to search letter by letter I can use my voice to do so.It has Tizen OS so I am familiar with the way it works because my TV also has Tizen. So it is easy to use and although the projector takes some time to go between apps or just navigating on it, it is still a very smart projector.I like how easy it is to take it with me, it does not come with a pouch or anything so it does not get scratched on the other hand Samsung does sell the case to do that. The sound, I did not expect the sound to be great, I have a Bluetooth speaker that I run with and it sounds similar because they are both about the same size, this has about five watts and it sounds good but I will use my headphones if I am by myself or I will use my Bluetooth Samsung speaker for the sound, even my Q910B sound bar from Samsung will work great since they can be paired.I really like how it auto focuses, it has sensors that measures the distance and adapts the image, even if its tilted , it will adjust the picture within a few seconds, I do not have to do anything. Just point the projector to the wall or the ceiling and it will do the rest.I like that it can be used to play games, everyone in the family can enjoy, watching a movie, streaming a show, playing games without a console or even using the ambient images.About the ambient images, they can be used as background at a party, a get together or even just showing our favorite pictures, also perfect for the holidays.Overall it is a great projector, it is easy to setup, easy to take it on the go, if there is not enough room for a TV this is the next best thing. We can share around the house and when I buy the external battery we can take it to the park, or when we go camping.
