Securing the band (popping the snap button into the hole) pinches my child’s skin, the awful rubber material hurts my child’s wrist as she wears it, and if you miss the tiny holes by half a mm, it looks like it’s secure but actually isn’t and falls off at a later time! The watch face is too easily ‘woken up’ from accidental swipes and runs the risk of causing tasks to run on the watch without realising. The UI is difficult to understand (the call button is in red next to a blue cancel button! Even I have mixed this up! Why isn’t the call button in green?!) The clarity and volume level is terrible for calls as well. My child literally used this watch twice and it has sat in the box ever since. I deeply regret buying this and will be contacting Big W to find out about the option of returning it.... Show more

Call and text kids without social media!
When I first recieved the watch, the charger would not work so I emailed customer support after hours and they responded the very next business day with trouble shooting tips. After following the tips, our watch still did not charge, and customer support sent me a FedEx shipping label in order to return it and fix the problem. Customer Support kept in touch with me throughout the process several times, letting me know they received the watch, they found the charger was faulty, and then sent a new one with a charging stand within that week. Customer Support was very responsive, quick, and friendly. Customer Support was very responsive, quick, and friendly. I appreciated the quality of their customer support especially with a product intended to give parents a little more peace of mind. The watch is well made, water resistant, and easy to operate. I was able to download the app on my phone and my husband's phone so we could both contact my daughter. You can set several adults as emergency contacts which they will be dialed constantly instead of 911 when a alert button is pressed. You can also add other contacts to the watch as non emergency contacts or give out the phone number to others to call, but the watch can only call out from a specific contact list. However, contacts you add to the list will have permission to change or edit some watch features with the exception of you choosing to block specific permissions such as requesting the watch's location, finding the watch (by ringing it until found), and editing the contact list. It appears that the main parent user can choose to stop sharing the device to a contact previously added and that completely deletes the contact. You are able to block unknown contacts from the parental app, which is nice in case your kid may get spam calls. Kids can also add siblings or friends as a buddy contact if they also have a spacetalk watch. My daughter can easily send and receive text messages, we both can send and receive photos, she has emoji features, voice recording feature, and there is gps tracking feature. The gps location can be sent every 5 min to every hour or off. There is also a navigate feature to open maps app or navigation app to the gps of the watch. It also has a fitness app that tracks steps, calories, heart rate, and exercise minutes. One feature I though was pretty handy was an alert if your child goes out of a safe zone like their school or neighborhood street if you let them walk to and from school. It will alert you when they leave and arrive and you can set alerts for specific days and times as well. You can personalize their watch face with a photo or special background as well. The watch has a calendar, stopwatch, calculator, weather app, camera for photo and video, in addition to text and chat features. There is also an award mode to track chores where you can grant or your child can request stars for completed tasks to earn their allowance or rewards. I like the charging connector because it is not a port with female a d male connectors that could easily get bent if a child is trying to plug in for charging. I also recommend the charging stand because the watch is easily placed on the dock and stays better and less chance of getting scratched. The watch also includes a screen protector which is great since kids may get sand on it or get rough at the playground and get it scratched. The watchband is pretty rigid and keeps a rounded shape, but it easily snaps together and has a loop to keep it snug.Overall I think the watch has plenty of features, and the subscription is less than $5 per month for 2 watches or $6.49 for up to 5 devices. As far as signal, we have been down to 2 bars on the watch while in the house, but have had no problem calling her or sending a message in our neighborhood or places we have gone. There is also a school mode where you can shut off certain features such as incoming calls, or messages to keep them from distractions during class. I do wish there was an option to limit permissions for added contacts to only send and receive messages so she could chat with her cousins who don't have a Spacetalk watch, but if you add them to regular contacts they could edit alarms or certain features. There is a buddy feature on which I was unable to test since we only have one watch so far and I'm not sure of the permissions, but it is meant only for other Spacetalk users. The watch is a little bulky on my daughter, but she really loved it and seemed to enjoy being able to send us little messages. This watch offers a very affordable plan for parents and trusted adults to contact the watch user. I would recommend the watch for other parents for a way to contact their child, especially to make sure they make it to school and home safely if the parents are unable to be there. It would also be good to keep track of your child if they are visiting friends in the neighborhood or they go to the movies or the mall with friends. I like it, it's a great smart watch with the essentials, great way to give your kids a chance to get a hold of you without the worry of having to monitor social media or internet access. I love it, I think it is way better than handing a cell phone over to kids with access to too much too soon!... Show more

Cheap piece of junk!
This was is not worth the money and is a complete waste! First off it is very bulky and not comfortable for my daughter to wear. The snap on the band is so weak that it kept popping off her wrist and would not stay secure. That is when she was even able to wear it! The housing on the watch where the band connects snapped! Not the watch band but the big bulky plastic housing snapped right off after only 5 months! Then comes the customer service. When I sent a picture of the watch to them they continued to ask for all different numbers that were on the box that I no longer had. All the information should be on my account with SpaceTalk since I bought it directly from their company! All they should have done was sent me a shipping label so I could send it in ... Disappointing
Useful idea but poor execution. Watch is very bulky for little arms, software is poor and the UI is very glitchy. Audio quality is poor coming out from the watch.battery life is terrible and requires nightly charging. Charger itself is poorly designed so often the charging fails. App subscription plus cell connectivity costs are combined quite pricey. As a whole, very disappointing. My daughter got over it within a week of wearing and we’ve discovered family sharing for Apple Watch which is a far superior option if you can pick up a series 4 or later new or second hand for the same or similar price to the Spacetalk.... Purchased one of these for my 8yo daughter about six months ago now and very unhappy with itCompletely random gps location alerts at odd hours of the morning when my daughter is home in bed and this watch is apparently many kilometres away. Also keep getting false alarms many times a day that she has removed it from her wrist (when she hasnt)To top it all of, when placing it on the Charger overnight and the charge LED comes on it’s not actually charging sometimes and in the morning is dead as a doornailA poorly designed product with pathetic after sales supportSeveral times I had emailed spacetalk with my complaints and the response is always the same“We have passed on your info to the developer “Absolutely do not buy this product... Great Smart Watch Phone For Any Young Child.
My husband and I were recently in the market for a smart watch phone for our five-year-old son Marcelino. We decided to get Marcelino Spacetalk Adventurer’s Smart Watch Phone because, we thought it looked age appropriate for him. While testing out this new smart watch phone with my husband and son, we found it to be impressive. Marcelino likes that, it has a variety of different features. He enjoys checking the time, communicating with us when he is not at home and staying up to date on the latest weather. But, he also likes how it has a school mode because, my husband and I allow him to take it to school without worrying it will become a distraction in his classroom. It is a handy, safe and useful device that, will give any mom or dad peace of mind knowing their child is safe.... Show more

He now Walks to and from the bus stop with other neighborhood children. He is also allowed to walk to the homes of local relatives. Although none of these locations are very far I still want to ensure safe arrival and departure. The Space Talk adventure kids smart watch with 4 GB cellular phone to help me with that. The watch/phone is equipped with GPS so that I can be aware of his whereabouts at all times. A simple download of the smart talk adventure app allows parents the freedom to control preapproved Contacts and all the other features on the phone. Parents do need to add the device to an existing data plan to accommodate all the features of the phone. The set up of the phone was a bit tedious. It took me a long time to access the Sim card. After several attempts I was able to open it using a safety pin. After that the setup was completed quickly. So far we’ve had success with the watch. It performs as described. My son loves it because it looks and performs like the real thing. This device is aiding my efforts to slowly introduce independence and responsibility into my youngster’s life.... Show more

Perfect for inbetweeners
This watch is awesome. It gives your child a cool gadget and it gives a parent peace of mind. This is perfect for those children who I call inbetweeners- too young for a smartphone but old enough to want one. This really gives a parent control over what can and cannot be accessed (through an app) and eliminates the option to surf the web and go on social media altogether. Your child is able to make calls or text an approved list of people. A parent can keep track of them using the GPS. It s got other useful features as well- a fitness/activity tracker to see your child's activity, there's a camera and gallery, you have the ability to set reminders and alarms, an emergency button, and best of all... there is a mode to stop it from becoming a distraction in school. ... You can set the school hours so that it cannot be played with in class. It seems very durable. The band is a thick silicone, so easy to cleanup. It is adjustable and secures using a sort of pin, but it does take some force to get it to come off, so not too many worries about losing it because it fall off and if it does come off- there is an alert a parent will receive through the app. It is water-resistant and the screen is large enough that it is easy to use, but no so large it is annoying to wear (and that is important because you want it to stay on). It does need an activated SIM from your carrier. Now, let's face it, eventually, they are going to want to have a phone because it is what their friends have and you can play games on it. However, for younger kids (probably kindergarten to 3rd-ish graders), this may be a fair compromise. Not that older kids cant use it, just that I doubt they will want to. I think it is a great item for parents who want to be able to keep a line of communication open with their kids but without the worry of them accessing things they probably should not.... Show more

Review of SPACETALK Adventurer 4G Kid's Smart Watch - Ocean
Good Points: The tracker and calling function on the watch are brilliant. It’s so accurate it can tell you which house the kids are in.Improvement Points: The strap is awful. You have to try and push into the holes while getting it tight enough on the child’s arm. It’s held on by two clips which don’t give me much confidence as after two weeks one of the straps came away from the watch. I did contact Spacetalk and they replaced the facing and customer service was fantastic.I did feedback about strap as for a child a Buckle type fastening would be more secure but it’s not something they have.We are looking to buy a different watch and sell this as strap is so bad....
